The case they were in was very dirty and made it difficult to read the paint name because the paper had curled so badly. I got to the front to check out and with all 4 associates in the store (that I could see) no one made eye contact, no one took a moment to say welcome in or we will be right with you, nothing. Terrible customer service. While waiting in line, I had to listen to blaring Tejano music. Not everyone likes that kind of music, so it is very rude and unprofessional to have it so loud. That belongs in a warehouse, not in the ears of your customers. I spent 17 minutes in line for 4 samples. I got what I needed, but I was completely turned off by the lack of care for customers. I will use the other store on Memorial and Kirkwood. They were helpful, and the store was quiet.

This morning took the cake though. I stood at the counter for 10-15 min while the woman at the register helped another customer (perfectly fine and predictable) with something small and detailed, but didn't greet me or smile or say anything along the lines of I'll be right with you. She basically ignored me and the one time she did look at me, it was fleeting and she looked annoyed. All I needed was a sample and I had an otherwise quick question. The other locations are always so kind and helpful. Idk what's wrong with this one. There's one nice guy who works here and everyone else acts miserable. Then stop going to a big box store and pop into this Sherwin Williams location. Their slogan is "Ask Sherwin Williams". And I am glad I did. When I popped in to ask a question about prepping my old hope chest for a redo, the place was filled with professional painters gathering their stuff for the day. Most walked out with trollys of paint and other stuff for their job. Al I needed was some advice and maybe some deglazer. I showed the nice guy behind the counter a photo of the chest I had been sanding. He told me I could go ahead and start priming. Asked me what kind of primer I was using and made sure I had the correct tools to start my job. I bought nothing on this trip but got tons of useful free advice. Later that day I realized I did not have paint thinner like I thought. I headed back and the guy remembered me and helped me get the correct thinner for my needs. Next day I was back to buy my paint. Without knowing the actual square footage of what I was painting we came up with a "guesstimate" based on my photos. He asked if I had all the extra items I would need to finish my job so I wouldn't need to run back again. Set me up with an account and a discount and sent me on my way. Look, you can save a couple bucks on your paint at the box store out on the Beltway. Or you can pay a bit more and get someone to actually help you purchase everything you need in a couple trips instead of 4 or 5. You can have a pro explain why you need this brush instead of that one so you don't screw up the painting. Go, ask Sherwin Williams. I will from now on.
