The festival had lights on the roof of buildings and a fun show on the stage. This was the debut of the "new" trees on post oak boulevard, and they did not disappoint. They were 20 feet tall and made of twisted stainless steel with 249 LED lights on different points of the "trees". They were a very a modern take on the "Christmas Tree" and they were beautiful. The trees and fireworks were meant to be lit at 7:00 P.M., it didn't exactly go as planned, but nobody seemed to mind. Once the firework display began, the crowd was amazed, including myself. The uptown post oak tree lighting event was a sight to see and I would highly recommend.

If you've lived in Houston at least 10 years, you should attend this annual event at least once. Pros: - There is lots of parking even if you don't arrive early. The flyer also has a map of the free parking areas. - The music is good. - There are some booths, one of which lets you throw a ball through some holes in the back and you could win t-shirts, stress balls, etc... - There are police directing the flow of traffic which made leaving the area smooth. - There are lots of food options (albeit mostly unhealthy carnival type food). - The other attendees are polite (We only saw one drunk guy helped by his friends. Alcohol was not available at the event so I'm not sure how that happened.) - There are lots of places to sit (e.g. along the curb, concrete garden walls of surrounding businesses, etc...) I brought a chair for my mother, though. - The terrific fireworks show at the end was choreographed to music. - The emcees did a good job entertaining. - It was held in a fun area so you could walk around if you were waiting for the fireworks. - Some booths sold hot chocolate for only $2 when the temperatures were in the low 50s. - The food was not overpriced (except that bbq food truck selling turkey legs for $10 each). Cons: - They advertised food trucks but other than a bbq one, they were mostly generic fair food tents serving turkey legs ($8!), hot dogs, corn dogs, nachos, fajitas, sandwiches, tortas, funnel cakes, etc... - Lots of vendors were selling flashing colorful light toys that may make parents buy junk for their kids, wasting money. - I didn't see any portable restrooms. - There were strobes flashing lights. - The diesel-fueled generators powering some of the food tents were really loud and smelly.

The best customer service I have seen in any fireworks store. Took my granddaughter their for the fourth of July and there customer service was on another level compare to some of the warehouse down the road. To start off they had multiple people controlling the parking lot so customers would be able to get in and out of there without any confusions or accident. The parking guys were very nice and welcoming as well. Anyway as soon we enter the warehouse we were greeted by an older gentlemen who gave my granddaughter a safety sticker and a glow stick. You know small details like this make you appreciate people and place like this and I thought that was quite a first impression because that brought a smile to my granddaughter. Other then that, the staff seemed to be very energetic and new what they were talking when they were selling the fireworks. The prices where a lot cheaper than the place above the street TopDog. I would definetly recommend this to anyone especially those with kids because they have a huge variety of children fireworks as well. We will be back again this 4th of july and we will be bring the whole family this time read more

This place looks like it was assembled in a hurry by people who actively dislike safety, lighting, and common sense. The building itself felt like it might collapse if someone sneezed too hard, and the flickering lights really added to the "abandoned horror movie gas station" vibe. The staff acted like I was interrupting something important--like staring into space or ignoring customers on purpose. When I asked a simple question, I got a shrug that somehow felt judgmental. Very impressive. As for the fireworks... half the boxes looked sun-bleached, dented, or like they'd been sitting there since the invention of fire. Nothing had clear labels, and the prices felt like they were made up on the spot. I left genuinely unsure whether I'd bought fireworks or a science experiment gone wrong. Overall, this place radiates chaos. If you enjoy confusion, questionable life choices, and wondering "is this even legal," then congratulations--you've found your spot. Everyone else should probably keep driving. read more
