Boy do I have a whooper for you !! .. In 2022 I went into the heritage inn ,alone ,to book a room for the weekend. Right when I walked through the front door the middle aged gal at the front desk was rude. No hello ,no welcome in. She just stood there . I went up and introduced myself as she has stood there in silence , and proceeded to ask for a room for the night. ( I had never stayed before) . She started typing away and looks up at me very rudely and says " you are on the no rent list" I was in complete shock as I had never stayed before. I said " you must have the wrong person I have never even been here" . She said " sorry it says what it says " . I then asked to speak to the manager and her response?!.. "I am the manager ". Oh great! SMH She never explained anything ,did not apologize . I just left. I found out later from my husband that HE had been kicked out when he was a kid . So that must have been it. Whats crazy is I didn't even KNOW my husband yet at the time of him getting on the no rent list . 1/5 -- Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience We booked this hotel through Booking.com for our Yosemite road trip. After a long day of driving, we arrived expecting to rest for the night. Instead, we discovered fleas in our room and were bitten multiple times. We immediately reported the problem to the hotel management. Since we could not safely stay in the room, we had no choice but to leave in the middle of the night. What happened next was extremely stressful and frightening. We were exhausted, had already been bitten, and had to drive for approximately two more hours through an unfamiliar area in the dark, with little or no cell phone service, trying to find another hotel with availability. We finally arrived at Sierra Sky Ranch and checked in at approximately 4:30 AM. We had planned our entire road trip in advance, including our accommodations and budget. Because of this incident, everything was disrupted. We lost most of the night, got only a few hours of sleep, missed the breakfast included with our replacement stay, and had to make unexpected hotel payments. We were charged: * $310 at Sierra Sky Ranch ($210 room + $100 security deposit) * $236 at Holiday Inn ($186 room + $50 security deposit) * Total charged immediately: $546 Although the security deposits are expected to be returned later, this money was unavailable to us during our trip and created unexpected financial pressure. The flea bites have also continued to cause significant itching and discomfort, and we have documented the bites with photographs, as well as the conditions we found in the room. The hotel did refund the original booking through Agoda, but management considers that the end of the matter. In our opinion, refunding a room that was not safe to stay in is only the minimum that should be expected. It does not address the additional expenses, the health impact, the loss of sleep, or the major disruption this caused to our trip. We have already contacted Booking.com and provided documentation of what happened. We are also keeping all photographs, videos, receipts, and other evidence. This was one of the most stressful hotel experiences we have ever had. We booked accommodation so we could safely rest during our road trip, and instead we found ourselves, in the middle of the night, exhausted and bitten, driving through an unfamiliar area looking for somewhere else to sleep. Im 90% sure i got bed bugs here a week ago. And this morning my wife has the bites too which means i have brought them home. Grrrr! Additionally the second i walked into the room i felt claustrophobic. There is no air flow except the very noisy air conditioners. Internet is slow. Location location location!!! AWESOME! Right on Washington, where there are so many shops & restaurants you can walk to... The hotel is older and consists of 2 nice sized building along with the really nice pool area that is right at the street. The pool area sits above the street offering a cool view of this beautiful historical town.. the area is fenced/gated so you'll need your room key to enter the area. There are towels available and nice chairs, loungers and tables with umbrellas... The parking can get tight especially when the hotel is full. It's free to park also. There is some parking available in front of some of the rooms and parking behind the hotel. The hotel is 3 stories and there is no elevator. There are stairs and they are a bit cumbersome. Our room was cleanish, beds comfortable, plenty of pillows, alarm clock, frig/microwave, Flat screen TV, remote controlled air/heat in room... it was hot and it kept our room very cool... small closet area with 3 hangers and luggage rack thing, iron and ironing board. Bathroom is roomy but has limited counter space and shower is cramped... at least to me.. They have body wash in the shower and there is a place for probably shampoo/conditioner but it was broken so we just had body wash.. hairdryer didn't work nor did the outlet in the bathroom. There is a coffee maker with Coffee/Tea, cups and the packets with sugar/creamer, Ice bucket and hand lotion. There is a small wall heater in bathroom also! Warmed the bathroom right up oh and a large backlit mirror. There are no outlets to plug anything in except the one on the light between the beds. Breakfast was, well there is opportunity to improve this on so many levels. I SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY NOBODY LIKES STEAMED FROZEN WAFFLES OR SAUSAGE! GROSS! I give two stars for location. One star for the everything else: the motel has two buildings with a non related building between them. 1. Breakfast is disgusting. Everything is microwaved and placed in heating dishes. Bananas were all brown. The cereal choices are few. Breads tastes stale. Wished you had a hot waffle maker with batter. 2. Rooms : AC worked great. Worst towels ever. They're rough and not long enough as a true bath towel. Can't fit towel around waste. The beds were very soft . I give 5 stars to the housekeeper who cleaned our room, took out trash , and made beds. The room keys repeatedly lost access and demagnetized so I had to keep getting keys remade . The tv channels were slim and lots of static and white snow. 3. Environment. Lots of people who smoke here. Even though it's a nonsmoking hotel, expect smoke. The area is frequent with homeless. 4. Friendliness; the front staff were nice. 5. Non family friendly. There is no place to hang out and socialize with families or friends. The pool area only has 3 tables and chairs and closes at 9pm. The rooms are not big enough to hang out with for friends. 6. Pool: dirty , dirty, and dirty. Lots of bugs in the water and COLD. Non heated pool and NO hot tub. The tables were dirty. The tables were chained and bolted to the ground. The plaster in pool was spelling. Pool towels were smaller than the room towels . The pool goes from 2 feet to 7 feet. read more

They usually have a great breakfast with bacon, sausage, and eggs, but on my current trip, they had none of these items and waffles instead. Almost everything the had was carb-filled and, as a diabetic, I couldn't have it. They were even out of yogurt, and by the third morning, the banana were old. 1-Star Review -- Staff Behavior Was Completely Out of Line I had one of the most uncomfortable hotel experiences of my life at the Heritage Inn in Sonora, California. The main issue came from an employee named Chelsie, who was completely unprofessional both times I saw her. The first time, she was openly flirting with me in a way that made me uncomfortable, and I tried to brush it off. But the second time I ran into her, she took it even further and actually asked for my phone number. I was shocked. I couldn't believe a staff member at a hotel would act like that toward a guest I told my girlfriend and she was angry. She couldn't believe that a girl would just openly hit on someone. It really made my girlfriend uncomfortable and so we ended up not having fun together. I was upset because I told Chelsie no and that I had a girlfriend and she said oh ok. I avoided coming out of our hotel room for the rest of our stay so I wasn't running into her. My girlfriend was the one who booked the place because we saw the reviews had improved. Her behavior caused a huge argument between my girlfriend and me because neither of us expected to deal with something like that on a simple trip. It put a ton of tension between us and honestly ruined the entire stay. What Chelsie did felt like clear sexual harassment, and it made being there unbearable. On top of that, the room wasn't clean, the breakfast was awful, and it looked nothing like what was advertised. When we complained the front desk lady was rude and said we don't do refunds and I asked to speak to the manager but she refused, I asked for the owners name she refused and told us they would fix the room being dirty. The one bright spot was a friendly guy working there that gave us extra towels at least someone there was doing their job professionally. We noticed the price was cheaper on the booking site than it would've been booking directly, which is the only small positive. But after dealing with a staff member hitting on me not once but twice, there's no chance we'd ever stay here again. My girlfriend agreed completely. We even tried to dispute the charge with our credit card company, but since we stayed the night, they couldn't reverse it. Honestly, the whole experience was a huge mistake. I made reservation though BringFido (to assure no hassle check in with dogs which is paid for in advance). On arrival "sorry we are out of dog rooms, sorry we are out of double queen rooms" (that I paid for in advance). Got stuck in double-double room far away which is not a great room (OK, but old). NO place for dogs to go, poop in the hallways, cement everywhere, nearest grass is way down to the street and next door motel on a busy street. Old rooms (mine anyway). They insisted I agree to $134 charge for dogs when the charge is supposed to be $100 (implying no room for you or else).. outrageous considering I didn't get the room I paid for. It's not horrible place, but staff has attitude, lies, and PLENTY of hassle getting charges (I thought) straightened out, and then they charged another $50 anyway after agreeing not to in consideration of their errors. As a cheaper motel, with no dogs, it's just OK in a good location for food, pool area is small but good but also on a busy street. I was pretty pissed off about them the whole time. We had an amazing stay! In short, the Heritage Inn is a great place to stay in Sonora, it is clean and conveniently located, it has all the amenities you will absolutely appreciate, and managed by lovely ladies experienced in true hospitality. Continue reading for my long version. We got into Sonora a little earlier than 3pm check-in, but they had our room all ready for us. Charlotte made the check-in process quick and painless. Our room was 309 and beautiful. It was a king suite with in-room hot tub. It is huge! There is a desk and chair, 3 seater couch and coffee table, TV on a credenza with mini fridge and microwave underneath, a super comfortable king bed and 2 night stands with lamps, at one end are two steps up to two-person HOT TUB, and an open closet on the other end. It's as big as a studio apartment, maybe bigger! Lol. The bathroom is spacious as well, with a beautifully and brightly lit vanity and glass door standing shower. Get this, 20 minutes after checking in, Charlotte called to make sure our room was to our satisfaction. Yes yes it was! I was grateful for that personal touch. First half of the first impression when we walked in was "it smells clean!" Not whoa it smells like air freshener, roses or pine needles. It just smelled clean and fresh, which I actually commented to the BF that I was shocked, because rooms in environments with humidity tend to have a musty smell, especially if they have in room hot tubs. But there was none here and I have a sensitive nose and allergies, if I don't smell it, I will still physically react to it. Second half of the first impression, it WAS clean. The carpet, clean, no gum or spill stains, no sticky spots...walls, clean, no marks or stains, no dirt or handprints...desk and chair, clean, no stickiness or grime like from dirty hands (you know what I mean). Couch, clean, no rips or stains, no grime or stickiness there either. The shower floor and stall, absolutely clean and pristine white, no random hairs lingering around. Oh and fridge, no stink like someone left their nasty leftovers for days. No matter where I stay, a hotel, motel, inn, b&b, a friends house...I bring house slippers and shower slippers for just in case, but at the Heritage Inn I never even pulled them out of my bag. I walked around in my socks, that never turned brown or black lol. This was big for me! Hot tub: soooo delightful. Water runs hot and the jets are strong. Big enough for two people to lay back in, not just to sit in. We used this twice and I absolutely loved it, it was so relaxing. They put towels right next to the tub too so you in case you forgot to grab one, you aren't running to the bathroom all wet and soggy, the towels are sitting right there saying "don't worry, we got you". Couch: comfortable and large, though we mainly used it to sit briefly to put our shoes on. TV: works fine and has lots of channels, I didn't notice a channel guide or menu, but we didn't come to Sonora to watch TV so it's no big deal for us. Fridge: kept our water bottles ice cold, freezer part was small but we didn't need that, I don't know that I have ever used the freezer in hotels but that would be convenient if you did need it, for like frozen burritos or icepops. Microwave: didn't use it but that's always nice to have in case you've got a frozen burrito...or leftovers to warm up. Outdoor pool and jacuzzi: currently closed for the season, it's too damn cold to be out there in the water. Parking: easy and plentiful Breakfast: it is REAL breakfast! Served 6am to 9am in the Gold Rush room. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits, gravy, bagels, regular white bread, blueberry muffins, cinnamon sugar muffins (it tasted like coffee cake, it was so good!), instant oatmeal in several flavors, 3 choices of dry cereal, regular milk and chocolate milk, 3 choices of fruit juices, coffee of course, fresh fruit, like banana, apples, and oranges, yogurt cups, including Greek yogurt. And all the necessary condiments. Checkout: quick easy and painless. Ginger was a delight to chat with upon checkout. She welcomed any feedback from us, good or bad, which I didn't really have any negative experiences during our stay. But I felt so comfortable with her, she made me feel like I can share anything without judgement. I really enjoyed Sonora and my stay at Heritage, I intend to be back soon! read more

We found this place online and then passed by as we're driving in downtown Sonora. It was affordable, clean and had hot breakfast. Made the trip much more than relaxed. Great hotel to stay out in Sonora. I was checked in by an employee named Trucks and he was a life saver. He was caring and professional. When I arrived at the property, there were no rooms available. I was traveling with my 1 year old daughter and we had nowhere to go. Trucks pulled some strings and made things happen to make sure we were taken care of. I was actually not going to stay at this place based on the old reviews but upon talking with the other hotel near by they actually done some remodeling and the price to stay a night was very affordable. It costs $130 for two queen beds where as the hotel down the street was $400 a night. It was basic but it was perfect. The hotel clerk also gives you a list of events going on and the nearest restaurants to walk to. Only thing wrong which dropped a star was they really need to change out the air filters. It smelled very dusty and old and the air filters were pretty dirty and full. I kept the window open while I left to air it out. read more

Highly do not recommend this place! We found 2 roaches the night we were here, and when we brought it up to the employee around midnight, he said there was nothing he could do about it because he did not have the authority to switch rooms for us. By the time we found the 2nd roach, we told him we were checking out. After that, the employee finally switched rooms for us. We packed all our belongings at midnight and relocated to another room. The next morning, we brought up this issue to the manager, Ginger. We asked for a refund for the night that we found 2 roaches and had to relocate at midnight, but Ginger was extremely rude. She blamed us for bringing the roaches in. After a refund of $20 (when we had initially spent $250 for 2 nights), Ginger blocked my phone number. When I confronted Ginger about the refund from another phone number, she lost her temper and yelled at me. I would not recommend this type of hospitality to anyone. read more

We found this spot to stay in for a weekend snow trip. We were able to book same day and it was one of the more affordable hotels. With quick access to Grocery Outlet down the street a 35-45ish minute drive to Dodge Ride/Leland Snow Park this worked out perfectly. The rooms were cute/clean, staff was nice and they offered free breakfast with bagels, pastries, cereal, juice etc. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back. :) read more

I visited Heritage Inn on a trip to Yosemite. It is well kept and clean from the outside. The staff, especially Tina, was very welcoming and friendly. I appreciated her kindness and hospitality. The room was very clean, had good heating and AC, a nice size refrigerator, and A MICROWAVE! Yes! I was impressed with the microwave, I do not see that often. But even more impressive was the heating in the bathroom. I get cold feet, literally, so there is nothing nicer than a heater in the bathroom when walking on cold tile floor. Was woken up before 8 am on a Saturday morning by banging and scraping on the outer wall of our room. Turns out they hired people to paint the exterior. There was a sign saying they had construction going on 8-5 M-F, so I guess no one gets a good night sleep here. The room isn't terrible, but not that great either. The breakfast is a joke. It's literally a bagel in a bag. When you get back to your room, you realize thst they don't even include a tab of butter or cream cheese. Their breakfast is a plain, dry bagel. Was told the manager wasn't in and wouldn't be in until Monday. I'm calling bs on that because ehat kind of hotel doesn't have any management for a whole weekend. For some reason they doubled their normal prices for this weekend, so the rooms were like $220 a night. Worst value ever. I would avoid this little casm of shiestiness at all costs. read more

We planned to go camping in the area, but our truck broke down. Luckily we also towed our Jeep. Spend to nights in a dumpy motel in Jamestown and we couldn't stand it. We have our dog, so places to stay are very limited. Found this gem in Sonoma. It is on the Main Street and easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Room was much nicer and cleaner than the previous place, and it didn't smell. The downside, the air conditioning is Very loud, is up in the corner of the room above rhe window. My husband is 6'2" and still couldn't reach to read the buttons to turn it down and no chair to stand on. They also " include" breakfast which is grab and go coffee, juice, apple sauce or snack fruit cup. They also charged an additional $25 for the dog which is not listed on their site. read more

I had to come to Sonora on a business trip, and in the process of renting a car from Sacramento Airport, I lost my wallet. I had my wife contact the Inn, and they were super nice and understanding, and when I arrived they were very nice to me as well. The room was spartan, but clean and functional,l. The Inn itself is old school feeling but it's clear and safe and all in all, if you need a place to stay for a night, that is very affordable, and you don't need a lot of frills, stay here! I wouldn't dare turning on the air conditioning unit, it was so nasty I was afraid of what would come flying out. Oh, and they allow dogs, which is great, but there was also dog poop in the hallway which was not cleaned up by either the owner or the staff, just left there. Puke. Found a decent hotel fairly priced for NYE. Arrived in the evening. Called ahead to let them know and received friendly service at check-in. Ended up bringing my dog because I saw it was a pet-friendly business. When I asked about my dog, they accommodated me by moving me into a pet room. It cost $25 per night for my dog. I appreciated the concierge putting my mind at ease when I mentioned having my grandchildren with me. Super fast service when I called for extra towels. Worth the price. Location was convenient. They had everything we needed for the night. In the morning we enjoyed the grab and go breakfast as well. read more

Stayed here to see my grandson who lives in Jamestown. He is handicapped and I brought my little dog to stay with him for the night in his home because the tiny service dog helps him greatly. Next morning I picked up my dog from my daughter and checked out of the motel. Next thing I know the motel has charged me $250 and accused me of having a dog without telling them. I figured one call to them would correct this false accusation, but I was wrong. They refused to listen to me and falsely accused me of having a dog. This will be an issue that I will not let go. What a dump. Ratty old carpet everywhere, even outdoor hallways. Everything stunk of cigarette smoke, even our supposedly non-smoking room. Tatty curtains, bedspread with holes in it, dirty walls, generally run down and shoddy. "Continental Breakfast" made Key & Peele skit look like the Ritz - dishwater coffee, styrofoam bowls for sugar-laden oatmeal, coco puffs (12 gems sugar in 25 grams of cereal), individual wrapped white bread probably stocked in prisons. We did check the bed for bed bugs and thankfully found none. I would say the mattresses were quite comfortable though the pillows were like bags of potatoes. Nice people work here - too bad they have to. Also building is quite appealing and town is adorable. This place needs some love. I'd avoid it if you can. read more

Spent just a night here before skiing because it was reasonably priced and looked decent online. When we got to our room and opened up the covers to go to bed, we saw a nasty stain that looked like it splattered all across the sheets (see attached photo). Sylvia who was working that evening was very friendly and accommodating and quickly got us another nearby room, but after seeing that we were skeptical about general cleanliness. I did receive $20 compensation from management which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of one, but likely won't stay again. read more

Nice hotel. My wife and I decided to go away for a short trip over thanksgivings and found this place. The price for a spa king room was very good. The room was large. The tub was big enough for my wife and I to soak in it. The staff was very nice and helpful. We had come up to see the Christmas parade and it ran right past the hotel. The room could have been cleaner. There was a wrapper from a bar of soap in the shower. Their was paint bubbles on the wall. The room could use a update. The furniture was very 1980s. For the price it wasnt bad. Very large room and the bed was very firm. The cleaning staff needs to double check their work and the owners need to update the room. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to do a quick trip to Yosemite on a budget. We had one full day in the park bracketed by a 2-night stay at this motel in Sonora. It's a good 2 hours away from the Yosemite Valley floor, but again we were on a budget and it costs a LOT to stay closer in. For the cost, this hotel was perfectly acceptable. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was downright spacious, and I'd go so far as to say that the bed was among the comfiest I've slept in, like ever. Sonora is an adorable town in CA gold country, and we got a bonus visit in to Columbia State Historic Park, which was easily accessible and super cute. Breakfasts were pre-bagged "grab-n-go", consisting of cereal, a carton of milk, two mini muffins, and a piece of fruit. Staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. One star knocked off because the linens, although clean, were dingy to the point where some of them were grey instead of white. It's time for either a heavy bleaching in the wash, or replacement. There was no maid service - I think possibly because of COVID. Also, in the summertime it'd be nice if the pool hours went later than 7pm. During these months it would be light enough, and warm enough, that I could see enjoying the pool until 9 or 9:30 easily, which would be especially appreciated by those of us traveling without kiddos. Overall though, a pleasant stay at a very budget-friendly price. It's not the Ritz but what you get is fair for what they charge. If you expect the Ritz for $60/night, there's something wrong with YOU, not the motel. read more
