Heritage Goods & Supply is in the coastal Southern California town of Carpinteria. The shop is located next to the largest Torrey Point tree in the world. I was there to check out the tree. Oh that tree is glorious, over 225 feet with a truck of neatly 21 inch circumference. Anyways back to the shop. It's in a red painted building in front of Lucky Llama coffee. Heritage sells sustainable, eco friendly items in a curated country store. The merchandise range from baby clothes, toys, art, kitchenware, stationary, vegetable and flower seeds, dishes, drink ware, etc. Think modern and hip. The items are practical and beyond the mundane same old. The price points are at boutique pricing but not so outrageously priced. The items that caught my eye were art prints from Hello Coyote, and Little Salt Wagon. May I add, pieces were affordable ranging from small prints, greeting cards, to larger sizes. Little Salt Wagon is art from local Ventura County artist Amanda Cox. Simple, but beautiful watercolors inspired by the rural Ventura County surroundings. read more

Very cute shop with a little bit of something for everyone! Got a cute Heritage Goods & Supply mini tote, a shirt for my toddler, and some beef jerky for me and my husband. They also have slightly used clothing which I loved--way to recycle and reuse well made clothing. Definitely stop by for a gift for yourself or someone you love. Heritage Goods and Supply in Carpinteria is such a treasure. The store is beautifully curated with thoughtful, sustainable, locally made products . I recently bought a fermentation jar from them, and unfortunately, the airlock cracked after the first use. I brought it back, and pleased that Katie (one of the store assistants) made the exchange process incredibly easy. No stress, no fuss. She handled it with kindness and total professionalism, and I left with a brand-new jar and even more appreciation for this place. It's stores like this that remind you why it's better to buy local. The service here is outstanding. If you are looking for sustainable clothing this is the place to come to. There are also some used clothing for sale that are nicely priced but mostly just small sizes. Today they had a wreath making and kitchenette pop up. I definitely think this would be a great place to purchase Christmas gifts. read more

As the pandemic nears and end and I begin to bid farewell to all things that came into my life during that time, I vow to keep heritage goods in the rotation. I discovered them early last year while getting coffee and each time I'm in town I pay them a visit. I've found some of the cutest bandanas/neck scarfs here. Soon enough we will no longer need to be masked up, and I've loved bandanas since long before the pandemic but the ones I've purchased from here have been some of my favorite face coverings. Super cool store--only lose a star for being expensive. All kinds of stuff for sale ranging from beautiful, hard to find clothes such as prairie style dresses (but also more mundane stuff like t shirts), jewelry, local honey, water bottles, books on bee keeping, toys, etc. A great place to go for a gift for someone who is hard to shop for and who likes DIY. Wow, that three star is mean. Not the stars but the comments. I bought a great little watercolor for a friend. At $21 it was an excellent deal and very pretty. They had some nice jewelry and cute clothes. Thematically, the store is going for the new, curious home farmer type, and yes, the store is geared for the bourgeoise who may be new to pickling, gardening, baking - etc. But let's get real, for the area, the store offers perfectly sweet introductions to things that may become hobbies, or passions. It is like a store that creates introductions to questions in your mind about earthy pleasures you may have forgotten to ask about. For the hobbyist, this is perfect- for the passionate, they will find their own way eventually. For a gift item, it is a good bet you'll find a nice kitschy cookbook or trinket. I like it. Very cute shop but also very expensive. $300+ for a clothing item for me has to be really intentional and not just "this is cute, let's get it". There's a mix of things for babies, kids, adults, pets (oxbow hay), kitchen/household, Patagonia items, etc. I ended up getting a jigsaw puzzle for my toddler. Had the jigsaw puzzle's picture not been from one of our favorite books, I wouldn't have spent the $25 for it. read more

We really liked this store. It has everything you would need for modern urban homesteading. It is also has a lot of fun stuff to explore. It is really well laid out with a lot of space to peruse. The kids were quickly occupied in a back area set up for them and playing with an old school tabletop phone (they are totally intrigued by the hard-wire phone concept). Everything in the store appears to be quality and stylish. There are lots of homemade items as well as brand (eg., lots of Yeti). I found some cool canning jars, natural bubble bath for the kids;) and wife found some neat jewelry. If you are in the area or need of some homesteady supplies (they even have artisan feed!), I would recommend making some time to wander through this store! read more

This is more than a "store." It's a manifestation of 3 beautiful women on a mission. If you are looking for a place where you can buy items yourself, your friends, your home and other loved ones and feel good about it, this is the place for you. I loved every item in here because it spoke to the part of me that just wants to live in nature and use products that are actually good for me. And from day one everyone I encountered here has been so friendly and loving. I actually felt like I was just hanging out with friends I had known for years! :D They also offer really amazing classes if you've been looking to learn something useful and environmentally friendly. I'm supporter of shopping local rather than big corporate stores. I was there yesterday looking to purchase a few gifts. As I walked in, I was greeted with a "hello" but no offer for help find what I was looking for. After picking up a few items, I was near the cashier and not once did she acknowledge me. I finally asked if I she could ring me up. After she placed my items in gifts bags I said "thank you" and her reply was "aha". I've purchased several gifts from here but my last experience was not the best so I will most likely take my business to other small boutiques that value their local shoppers. read more

My partner had gotten me a Patagonia Lightweight Synchilla Snap from here as a Christmas gift, however, when I tried it on it was too small. We had lost the receipt for the transaction but kept the tag on the jacket. I came in two weeks later to exchange the jacket and was pleasantly greeted by two young ladies behind the counter. One of them kindly helped me try on a larger size and allowed the exchange process to be quite blissful. Love this place and the ladies who run it! Highly recommend their classes! I especially love their cooking section where you can find specialized things you'd normally have to get off amazon (like a fermentation kit). Been coming to this store since opened. Employees are always friendly & helpful. The array of products avail for the "farmer"/"rancher"/"urban DIY'er" is inspiring. However, they seem to be sending mix messages based on there price points and the "simple life" they are attempting to promote. Becoming more of a store that should be located on Fashion Island for wealthy "simple wannabe" hot moms or bored house wives. I would highly encourage ownership to revisit what they are offering vs promoting. Simple isn't $28 glass cases or $60 vegetable dye fabric. read more
