Therese Hartmann is my idea of the perfect mortgage broker. She is incredibly knowledgeable; prepares you well in advance for what you will need to provide so you are not running around last minute trying to collect things; and she is very available to answer calls, texts or emails. When the sale of my home seemed to be taking a different turn, Therese assured me that we could still get the financing I would need to close. Because, again, we are talking my dream home, dream city, so I was very focused on making sure it happened. I also wanted to keep my promise to the sellers that I could close on my deal with them. They had extended me some contingency in terms of timing to sell my home; and I wanted to make sure I could perform. You can probably imagine how much stress I was feeling, but, again, due to Therese and my terrific real estate broker (that review to come separately), I was able to manage all of it and, today, I closed on my dream home. I cannot say enough good things about Therese Hartmann. She is definitely worth giving a call and seeing how she can help you with your loan or refinancing. She is top notch!!

Melissa Hunter is the best real estate agent in Ventura County. It's that simple. If you want a…read morehouse in the area that is well suited for you, there's no other option. Melissa was the main reason we got our amazing house, and I don't think we would be living here without her. She made us feel like her only client, and kept us calm during every step of the convoluted and intimidating process of buying our first house. Melissa first stood out on getting back to us after reaching out on Yelp looking for realtors. It was easy to tell right away that she gets things done, which is absolutely essential in the cut throat and competitive real estate market in Ventura County at the moment. Melissa also took the time to get to know us to truly find a place right for us. On our first house tour, she had a very specific plan in mind to show us potential matches in different locations spread out around the area. It was mostly a fact finding mission, and it just showed how Melissa already cared about us and making sure we're happy in any potential place that we find. Good homes in our price range aren't readily available in this market, so we thought it would take awhile. We found our house in only nine toured houses all thanks to Melissa. We live about an hour and a half away from Ventura County, so it's not always easy to come out and see a home when it pops up, and speed is essential in this market. Melissa went the next day and took a video of the place to help us decide, and we submitted an offer just based on the video. Melissa helped us with the offer, and was absolutely essential as we countered three different times until it was our house. Melissa is very knowledgable about the market and the processes and kept us fully up to date on the other offers, and provided advice on how to make our offer the best possible for acceptance for each counter stage. Getting your offer accepted is extremely challenging, and that was only the beginning of this process. The 30 day escrow period is filled with landmines and potholes that Melissa helped us navigate expertly. We were thrown a ton of curve balls during the process, especially on the loan side of things, and Melissa was always there to chat, offer advice, and help as much as possible from the realtor side of things. We ended up not being able to close until 11 days after the original closing date because of the delay on the loan, but Melissa kept us at ease and on track with open negotiations with the seller so they didn't worry. We hit every disclosure date in plenty of time with Melissa in control, and even with all of the stresses, Melissa was always a calming influence. To show just how amazing Melissa is, her care for us didn't end when we got the keys. We had some issues pop up after move in related to our warranty coverage, and Melissa has been right there to help us file claims and stay on top of different service technicians. Melissa couldn't have done better in this whole process, as well as her partner Jason (who we never met, but he was always on top of all the backend processes, timing, and documentation). If you want a home in Ventura County, Melissa Hunter and Jason Walters are the only choice.

If ever there was a world-class mortgage broker, Lendevity would be it!…read more I worked with Lendevity to obtain a refinance on my mortgage. Jerry Choudur, Mary Martikian, and Jennifer Becker were all consummate professionals through the entire process. Jerry was very upfront about everything! He's a seasoned vet in the mortgage world and walked me through all the tactics used by the competition. I obtained several loan estimates from competitors (one of them rhymes with "Roam Beepo") and Lendevity always provided the best deal. The entire process was as modern and streamlined as a refinance can get. Really, give them a shot. The Lendevity team really gained my trust through this refinance. I am intending to refer everyone I know to them. And to come in for a perfect landing, they sent me cupcakes! Delicious, diet-crushing cupcakes!

After being approved for a loan and signing a contract on my condo, I was repeatedly provided with misleading and inconsistent information from my loan officer, which created unnecessary confusion and eroded my confidence in this lender's handling of my loan. In addition, she failed to complete basic tasks such as providing the agreed-upon weekly loan status updates to my realtor. After asking for finalized loan terms week after week, the lender refused to provide them to me claiming it was a "private lender." Then, 4 days before closing, the lender said that they wanted to raise my downpayment to 25% instead of 20%, and still no finalized loan terms. Of course, this raised red flags and I finally sought out a new lender, and thank goodness I did. After obtaining a new lender, I then learned how unethical and abnormal their business practice and this entire loan was. Extremely shameful way of conducting business and I would encourage anyone who is considering using First Choice Lending to look elsewhere.
