I took my truck in for intermittent stalling and rough idle issues and paid $240 for diagnostics,…read morebut left with no actual diagnosis or path forward. The main recommendation I received was a PCM recalibration recall related to random downshifting into 1st gear, which is completely unrelated to my stalling issue. They also told me to reinstall the OEM throttle body and intake, even though the problems originally started while the truck still had the factory parts installed. I only installed quality OEM+ aftermarket parts afterward while attempting to troubleshoot the issue myself. To make matters worse, they recommended a rear differential fluid service and used the attached fluid sample as justification, despite me having personally changed the fluid only ~2,000 miles earlier. When I mentioned that, I was told the truck may just be a "lemon" because it already had multiple issues. Overall, I left feeling like they were more interested in upselling services than actually diagnosing the problem.

I am disabled and live on a fixed income so even though I really like my truck, this just wasn't reasonable to consider for me. I was passing PSA a couple weeks ago and on a whim stopped in to see if they said the same thing. After I explained what had happened, Dave gave me some alternatives and told me how to fix a couple things myself and saved me a lot of money I couldn't afford to pay out. He is doing the major repair on my truck now at a very large savings to me over all of the mechanics that were "positive" they were giving me the best price available and I am so confident in him I don't even need to wait for my truck to tell you how awesome a job he is doing! I have seen some of his work and talked to others who have had repairs done and have only heard good things, but even better than that is the fact that this shop has great mechanics that love what they do, take pride in their work and care about their customers. It's so refreshing to find people like Dave and a shop like Puget Sound Automotive!

As someone who is totally clueless about cars, they were honest about what was essential versus non essential to repair so I could stay within budget and they answered all of my many questions thoughtfully, thoroughly, and with kindness. Protech mechanics made sure they didn't miss anything through their detailed inspection and diagnostics. They did not try to pull one over on me and upsell like many mechanic shops do. The cost was completely reasonable given the cost of parts and time for repairs. Additionally, they were not just going through the motions of their job, they really went the extra mile (pun intended lol) picking me up so I didn't have to walk to the shop to make my payment and get my vehicle. They go above and beyond for their customers. Everything that needed repaired with my car was repaired, I got to ride with the mechanic to ensure it was fixed and ask any last questions, and overall could not be more satisfied with this experience. About a month ago, we purchased what we thought was a great F350 from a well-known reputable dealership. We bought said truck in preparation for our family move to Texas. Turns out, the truck we bought had a poor man's delete and a literal laundry list of huge big repair items that we would not have discovered had we not scheduled a maintenance appointment with Joe at Rugged Diesel. Joe and the team took us in at short notice, and contacted us when they said they would, and went above and beyond. These people know what they're doing, do honest business, and are truly the salt of the Earth. Joe didn't try to sell us anything- he just delivered the facts and gave us advice on what he would do along with emailing us an itemized list of whats needed on the truck so we could go back to the dealership and get this resolved.
