In addition to being a very well stocked grocery store with plenty of organic fresh produce, a good selection of bulk nuts, beans, flour and such, and many boxed, canned and frozen offerings for the vegetarian and vegan diet, if you head to the second floor you'll find all of the herbs, vitamins, supplements and answers to your questions if you have them about such things. Head back downstairs and order a wonderful smoothie, sandwich, or something nutritious and delicious from the hot bar - all vegan or vegetarian. I love the tofu salad, the falafel, and the tempeh reuben - my favorite. After ordering turnaround and allow yourself to be tempted by one (two? of the various vegan and vegetarian desserts. I love the vegan blueberry lemon scones and the vegan Boston Cream Cake or cupcake. The smoothies are amazing! I enjoy the veggie juices, Brenda's Brew or Vulture. Atmosphere is very comfortable. Service is friendly, they do get busy so be patient - the food, drinks are worth the wait if there is one.

Fresh produce, organic food, and a fully vegan/vegetarian cafe are all part of it. We were bummed to learn the kitchen closes at 6pm so we missed out on their vegan sandwiches. Oh well! We got the carrot cupcake and lemon raspberry cupcake (both vegan) to go & they were delicious. Wouldn't know it had no milk or eggs if you didn't tell me. Hope to try their sandwich before I leave town *fingers crossed*

Hello, Just wanted…read moreto give you an update on my recent visit on 11.25.25 around 8p. I frequent your location in Stratford Connecticut often. I tell everyone about your location and I still will. However, let me bring to your attention that the customer service was awful. I was not greeted by the young lady at the cashier station. I walked around with my little hand cart and she followed my every move. She saw me looking around for products, and not once did she ask could she help me(which I needed, but finally found it myself). Instead of thinking I'm a thief, she could of interacted with me to see why visited your location. I arrived at the cash out and she never looked at me, asked did I find everything, or even just make some type of chatter. The only thing she said was "would you like a bag for 10c". I said yes and she bagged my items. I tried to see if should would engaged. I ask what time the store closed (i know you close at 9) just to see if she would dialog. She said just the number "9" with no eye contact. She put my receipt in the bag, and pushed my bag towards me. I returned the hand cart. I said thank you, and she said nothing again. I felt like confronting her but I didn't. Please retrain your cashier on customer service. Your store is not cheap, so I expect to be treated with value. I've never been treated like that in this store. If I'm treated like this again, I'm done, and tell everyone not to shop.

We drove an hour to bring relatives here because it was so good the last couple times…read more But somehow the seafood quality already changed. .. maybe different chef ? The new England chowder was water down, even taste a bit sour...(That's strange for clam chowder).. someone dropped a lemon by mistake? .. Fried scallops and fried clam strip no longer taste the same, not as fresh and sweet. Scallops texture is kinda hard to describe but different. .. Fried fish batter was too thick and fish is very dry and bland this time We also has lobster roll it's just ok.... At the end we didn't want to eat anymore Last time when i order, i order everything individually...this time i kept being told combo is $1 different and you get all fries to come with. Don't try the bathroom out there, not very nice. We didn't eat all the food and relatives are not happy with the meal ... So after sharing the feedback they kindly gave us a seafood chowder (thank you)..... The soup is creamy and better than the clam chowder although the seafood is overcooked. We missed the good version clam chowder here ... We are just very disappointed about the change of quality although i understand it's hard to keep the consistency.

After a spending most of the day walking around New Haven I decided I wanted to have a lobster…read moreroll. Some quick Googles led me to Stowe's. It's situated right across from the beach and they have their own parking lot which is always a plus. It's got a pirate theme going on and there's pirate-related decor all over the place. Definitely feels like a hole in the wall. I went around 5PM and the place was pretty busy. Plenty of patrons eating outside and a bunch more waiting to take their orders to-go. Actually, technically every order is a to-go order. You go up to the counter and order what you want and they give you a buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready. Whether you choose to sit at the tables outside is up to you. But everything comes packaged in takeout containers. Service was quick and friendly. CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM though. I ordered a lobster roll, soft shell crab sandwich, clam chowder, and lobster bisque. Everything was pretty good but the sandwiches were a bit pricey. On the menu they're listed as market price and apparently lobster rolls were $22 and soft shell crab sandwiches were $17 that day. We had the soups first since they were ready immediately. The lobster bisque was ok, but a bit too creamy for my taste. I found myself tiring of the taste after several spoonfuls. I much preferred the clam chowder. It had a great consistency and it was served at a perfect temperature. The flavor was on point as well. I really enjoyed the clam chowder. The lobster roll was good, but not great. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of lobster so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The lobster was fresh, but I found it to be a little bland. I got the sauteed roll, maybe I should've tried the fried. I really liked the soft shell crab sandwich. It literally looked like they took a whole crab and deep fried it then put it in a bun. It worked though. I especially liked it with the tartar sauce. If you're a fan of seafood, you'll like this place.

Not knowing what a PEZ is (!!!!!), he reluctantly drove us there. And let me tell you I think he had as much fun as I did, but he will never admit it haha. The tickets are more or less $5 - they give you a $2 store credit and a lanyards. When you enter there is a GIANT PEZ, when you push a button it "dispenses" a PEZ! You get to walk around and see all the different PEZ dispensers made over the years! Two walls have entire history of PEZs. Also you can take a bingo card, on which you need to find years the dispenser was launched for different characters. That is where my boyfriend got REALLY invested. He was looking around for the characters on our bingo card, telling me about different children shows etc. Second floor featured a party room, pictures of PEZ related events, PEZ outfits, motorcycle, PEZ based on Asian shows and signed PEZs by famous people. My favorite was KISS. First floor also featured a factory (you can see machines through the windows) and a gift shop. My boyfriend and I both choose dispensers ($3) for ourselves and he chose one for his kid and I choose one for my little sister. We purchased $6 buckets and filled them with different flavors of PEZ candy. There was PEZ lego like puzzle sets ($5) As a pin collector (i think $4-6) - there was 4 different pins to choose from. I had to have one! Also when you get bingo you get to spin the wheel and get a free dispenser! As a 30 year old adult I had SO MUCH fun learning about the candy I loved for almost 20 years! My boyfriend cannot stop eating the candy now too! Haha PEZ gained a new fan!

They charge $5 but you get back $2 to spend in the store. This is a very colorful place with thousands of pez dispensers displayed throughout in a well designed and informative manner. They also tell the history of this product and company with plenty of memorabilia. During the week you can watch the factory operate but on weekends they have a well made video that explains the manufacturing process. Of course about 20% of the space is dedicated to a retail shop but that is fun in itself. Definitely worth a stop for an hour.

Hummel Brothers is a meat and cold cut production company that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in…read more1933. It was founded by German immigrant brothers William and Robert Hummel. The two had worked as butchers when they first immigrated to New Haven. When they heard that a local sausage company named Phil's Sausage Kitchen on Congress Avenue was going bankrupt, the brothers borrowed $1,000 to purchase the location. The Hummel Brothers had both trained as 'wurstmachers' (sausage makers) in Germany and wanted to make the finest products available to local consumers. Thus 'Hummel's Premium Quality Provisions' was born, and it didn't take long for the company to become a household name. They moved to their current larger location in the 1970s. Today the company is run by their grandchildren. The company's best-selling product has always been their hotdogs. Hummel Brothers were one of the first sausage companies to stop using red dye and make hotdogs with their natural color. Varieties they make include Natural Casing Frankfurters, Skinless Frankfurters, All-Beef Frankfurters, Red Hots and Cocktail Franks. Hummels' Hotdogs are widely available at supermarkets and restaurants throughout Southern Connecticut. If you buy a hotdog from a hotdog vendor in the area, chances are that it's a Hummels' Hotdog. Hummel Brothers also make a variety of other meat products including bratwurst & knockwurst, kielbasa, spiral ham & ham steaks, corned beefs, and various deli meats. They also have a retail store and deli at their production facility where you can buy delicious sandwiches. I recently stopped in for a delicious Pastrami, Egg & Cheese breakfast sandwich. Hummel Brothers have been very special to me for as long as I can remember. The first hotdog I ever ate was a Hummels' Hotdog and I rarely eat other brands. I also have a family connection. My great-grandfather Heinrich "Henry" Klein was a trained butcher and immigrant from Cologne, Germany. Not only was he friends with the original Hummel Brothers, but he was also one of their first employees.
