Attention EVERYONE! If you are having a small get together do NOT call these people. I REPEAT! DO…read moreNOT! 1st of all, they take a long time to get back to you and yes, I understand they are busy people.. but if you're running a business for starters how about you hire someone who can just take the calls and return them for you? Just a option. 2ndly, I did in fact speak to ERIC- the owner . Clearly from the get go I can feel that he didn't want to do business with me once I mentioned this will be a small gathering for my new baby and home and we will only be feeding a number of 27-30 people. If you have their services for (this amount of people) you're looking to spend over $800.00. So I obviously needed more options. He said for drop off only will run me $450.00 + tax. I told him once my husband gets back from work I will relay this to him. I did get back to Eric a couple days later and needed a rundown of the menu. He told me a couple thing there, mac cheese, pulled pork, rolls, thighs and legs. Potato salad. That's it. To be honest, through out the weeks I always reached out back to him and showed consistency. This guy didn't want to be bothered lol. I'm about to order this food and want to know more and what I will be ordering and It was obvious he didn't want to take my order. 1ST, It would take him days outta time to return my calls, or texts. Or he would give me a excuse that he was spending the day with his daughter. MORE THAN ONCE. A big gap to get returned calls was very accurate. So when he did return my call, he kept talking fast, trying to push me aside with my questions, and told me more than once when I called back 'Oh I thought you weren't going forward with it''?? HOW? I been trying to do business with him and this feels more like a bad date gone wrong. LOL!! He apparently from ALLLL his reviews has only done big extravagant weddings, job parties, etc. That's fine. Just next time how about you be a little more specific about this instead of brushing customers aside. SHAME ON YOU! Last time I spoke with this character Eric (when he returned my call) I wanted to find out other options with the chicken that will be served. {which I will pay extra). He told me the menu was not to be changed or substituted for anything else. Literally I just been in this annoying back and fourth since March and you're telling me you can't change thighs and legs for chicken wings because its expensive? So what am I paying for then? Besides the obvious. I tell you this guy is not right. So good luck! Make smart choices and don't go based off these all positive reviews on him. Pathetic.

First off I would just like to applaud the food quality of your catering service. It was amazing…read moreand done very well. The reason for this email is that I would like to address some issues with your head chef of the evening, Lawrence. Towards the end of the night we received several complaints about his behavior. My father went into the back office to find Beth, the woman in charge of the wedding venue, crying and in pain after interaction with Lawrence when she suggested they get another rack for the chairs because she thought the chairs were stacked too high, and was afraid they would fall, in which he responded with "Beth, how long have you been working here?" she said 3 years, and he replied "well then you should know what you are doing" in a rude tone. Then he proceeded to move the rack of chairs while Beth was still standing directly behind them and rolled the rack right over her foot, injuring her toe even for her to be crying in the office. Her toe was swollen and red. This is just completely unacceptable. Secondly, my husband's sister said when she came out of the bathroom, Lawrence started hitting on her and making her feel uncomfortable. Third, he was cursing in front of guests, making them feel uncomfortable and pretty much having no shame about it. Fourth, he walked straight into my husband in a doorway in passing, more than likely accidentally, knocking him aside without saying a word. Furthermore, most of the staff seemed, over-worked, unenthusiastic and whenever a guest had a question or concern, they were either treated rudely or shortly. I know you were only there briefly, but I find this behavior completely unacceptable considering the amount of money we have paid your company for your services. Your food was exceptional, but the service was not. The bartenders were splendid. I have suggested that Beth, tell Katherine, the woman in charge of bookings at Branford House, exactly what happened, which will not reflect well in the future with your relationship with that venue. Overall, you assigned a head chef who injured a staff member, walked into my husband the groom and said nothing, was cursing in front of guests, and hit on my sister in law making her uncomfortable.

Their Sanctuary Kitchen project bolsters another objective -- encouraging fairness and participation in the entrepreneurial aspects of food business. As I understand Sanctuary Kitchen, they offer fair wage employment opportunities in a food catering and grab and go type business to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. I believe these people are encouraged to help expose people to world cuisines that are meaningful to them. You can order food for pickup at designated times. You can also buy the food at the Farmers Markets. I recently visited the Sunday City Seed Market at Edgewood Park near the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. There were a variety of foods. I grabbed a tasty hunmus and a box of the donut style falafel. Both good. But I was really intrigued by the Iraqi food offerings because I haven't knowingly had Iraqi food. I bought Iraqi Carrot and Dill rice, Iraqi Lentil Soup and Iraqi Vegetable Curry Soup. Since I'm not experienced in Iraqi cuisine, I can't speak to authenticity or make a comparative quality analysis. The food seemed nutrient rich. I'm not sure if this a cultural thing or the preference of the individual cook, I think the food needed a bit more salt across the board. Also, in terms of texture, the rice was good, but the soups seemed a bit overcooked and had a softer texture than I would expect. I was happy to have a chance to try these foods and I applaud the mission of City Seed. 4.25 Stars
