They were an hour late to our event! They only brought 2 small trays of each appetizer for 180 guests, people were still in line when they ran out! Dinner was a disaster! The tricolor fingerling potatoes were grey, the green beans were undercooked, the pasta with vegetable was cooked fine but had very little vegetable in it, the roasted chicken somehow was changed to Italian chicken which was nothing more than overcooked, dry, hard cutlets that we couldn't cut with the cheap plastic knives they provided, much less chew it without breaking a tooth! The forks and knives were different colors and small platers were provided for dinner! It was awful! I would give zero stars if I could! read more

With my heart in my hand and after 35 years of using Dave Grant Caterers, I am writing to let them know again how disappointed I am in them regarding the quality of service I received was on August 3, 2024. (I previously contacted Hector by email and phone, who has not given me any resolution and who said he would speak w/grill and regular chefs, however, never reached back to me with any comments). I started the relationship with Dave, Sr, and continued it with Dave, Jr. over 35 years ago. Both management teams gave me and my companies A+ Service, Food, Pricing, and Care. August 3, 2024 - not the case. Dave Grant Caterers spoiled my bi-annual event where we give back to the community, advertise and plan for this 6 months in advance, and had a financial investment of over $6,000 between their services, gratuities, staff's pay, and desserts. Desserts were not supplied by David Grant Caterers, thank goodness. We "Saved the Date" with with Dave Grant Caterers back in January of 2024, and emailed a detailed menu of what I expected (like I did every year, twice a year for over 35 years). * The staff was late. * All of what I ordered did not arrive with the staff. * The food was HORRIBLE. * There was some strange flavor in the maccaroni salad, leftovers thrown out that night. * The baby back ribs were not baby back and were so "Atomically hot" that they were not eatable (3 full trays thrown in the garbage). * The corn on the cob was hard, leftovers thrown out that night. * The Swedish Meatballs had no sauce and leftovers thrown out that night. The "Mini" grinder rolls for the sausage & peppers were LARGE (not mini). This left us with Great burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, glazed chicken, house salad, watermelon, and beverages that were all acceptable. Excellent service, very well-organized - DG catered a bridal shower at my house, and the entire process was seamless. The food was good, though we ordered a brunch spread (quiche, breakfast meats, French toast, eggplant, salad...all good) and I feel like brunch items are less controversial. The only thing I wouldn't get again were the pastries - they didn't taste fresh or homemade. We had some food allergies to consider, and the team was great in accommodating our needs by tailoring menu items as needed. Dave Grant walked us through the whole process from start to finish and took so much stress off of us. DGC catered my son's outdoor wedding several years ago. He also provided meals for people working the polls at an election I helped with. Based on those positive experiences, I booked with him for 2 small events we hosted at our home in June and August this year. These events were the only times I have ever hired a caterer for a home event. What a blessing it was to be able to serve a crowd of about 30 guests without slaving away in the kitchen 2 days or even needing to set the food on the table. The food was all the right temperatures and they provided everything we needed but the champagne and cake (though they can provide cake if you choose.) All our guests enjoyed the food with ample left for some to take some home. We had both hot and cold entrees and beverages. You might think your event is too small to bother catering but think again. It's a lot of work and if you don't want to risk burning yourself out, consider DGC. You and your mom/spouse/etc. can still make the specialties that everyone is looking forward to, without the whole burden of preparation and setup or guessing how much you need. If you have a reliable caterer like DGC, you can be more of a Mary than a Martha, free and energized to spend quality time with your guests. Guys, remember, happy wife, happy life! Get-togethers are about food, but especially about family and friends. Easing the pressure on the cooks in the family means more peace of mind and more time and energy to enjoy your company. And for me that is all that matters. The Grants are easy to work with, fair with their price and their staff has been exemplary. The caterer says in his response to my previous review that there was a lapse in time between the initial contact and our response. This is simply not true. We were told in our initial contact that a response would be given to us. We waited, even called back, but no response was given. We were finally given a hasty and somewhat rude "we're already booked" response. After seeing that another person has left a review here for the same weekend that we needed them, our conclusion is that David Grant Caterers had to choose between our party of 100 people and the other of closer to 200, and chose the latter. That's business, of course. But they could have been much quicker and nicer about their response. We accept absolutely NO responsibility in this matter. David Grant catered our 45th Stratford High School reunion last evening at Boothe Park! The crew arrived on time, set up was smooth, and the food was excellent! 50 people dined on chicken, London broil (very tender!) grilled shrimp (tasty!) and a variety of sides! During the original consultation David was more than accommodating, ensuring we were creating the most appropriate menu for the group of more than 175. I just got married at light house point Saturday and used David Grant Caterer. I was blown away by there services. The food was delicious, we even took all the left overs. I was able to adjust the head count up until a few days before which was great for those last min response. The service was above and beyond what I expected at a reasonable price. I saw other response that there was no communication. I requested a contract after a few phone calls. I think people forget that email is not the best way to communicate due to many times emails go to spam. I received prompt phone calls and emails from them when I reached out. From the first day we called and met with Dave, he was completely professional and offered helpful ideas and suggestions so that our wedding would be everything that we wanted. Used them at the recommendation of a host site for a small business gathering. The quality of the food was embarrassing. Presliced cheese and Keebler crackers glistening in the heat, shrimp wrapped bacon over-cooking in sterno, frozen meatballs doused in BBQ sauce, dried out slices of flatbread pizza, pretzels wet with humidity and heat from a tray covered in plastic wrap. Have used Dave many times and had hoped to have him come and do a BBQ for us as I had been to one he had done and it was great, but unfortunately due to his quality and popularity he was too busy so ordered some trays and they were a HIT! Came exactly on time and everyone was delighted. The gluten free penne vodka pasta with chicken was so good all the non gluten people loved it as well, his chicken fingers are the best ever with real chicken and great sauces, baked Mac and cheese was a huge hit and Caesar salad wonderful with great dressing!
