This place doesn't even deserve 1 star! My friend has been asking for a breakdown of all charges to repair her vehicle for 2 weeks and still has NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE!!! This place is absolutely terrible!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They also held her vehicle charging approximately $100/day stating that the vehicle was to stay until parts came in. So, she was charged for 60 days, $6,000!! She is elderly and did not know that she could have just simply had her vehicle towed to her home until parts came in and they could afford the repairs saving her thousands of dollars! I have been going to Herb and Rob's for over a decade and would not consider taking my car elsewhere. From the first appointment for an inspection, I was nervous because you always expect the worst. I was treated in a friendly and respectful manner and needed no repairs, so I was on my way quickly. Rabih, the owner, is knowledgeable and makes an effort to ensure that his staff is responsible and skilled. Don't come here!!! I wouldn't let these clowns touch my lawn mower. I used them because they could get me in right away. I wanted to go to Cody's down the street but they were booked out 3 months. Their lack of communication is astounding. The car was done with no call. Then they wanted to change for storage. They fixed things without getting any authorization and then try to charge me for the repair. I literally spent 2 weeks going back and forth with the car insurance company because they didn't give authorization either. I finally filed a lawsuit against this shop which I shouldn't have dropped, after the insurance company helped out the shop and paid for the repairs. I've had nothing but issues and I've only had the suv back for 24 hours. Your 90 year old grandmother could probably do a better job. I've contacted the better business bureau and filed a complaint. If I could give negative stars this company deserves it. I don't usually complain or write comments but I downloaded yelp just for this company. read more

just needed to get a tire mounted and I told the owner about a possible problem lugnut. the had to get another but after close to 3 hours of me waiting still no progress. I ran out of time and had to get my wife's car back to her and the guy had a hissy fit about having to pay his mechanic and he was being 'soft' on me because I owe him $$. ummm no way dude. your mechanic didn't work on it for 3 hours. you didn't complete your job and I'm still needing the tire mounted. so we both lose. his attitude sucked and I are as heck am not giving him my business. go elsewhere and leave these clowns in their misery read more

We went there for an annual inspection. 13 minutes after the car was dropped off we were called told the inspection was done and we needed to replace the front and rear brakes. When we went there the mechanic didn't answer if the rest of the inspection was done. How could it be? We didn't have a good feeling about this so we said we were going to take the car elsewhere for the inspection and any repairs. We were told we could get the car back unless we paid the $50 inspection fee ( never quoted ). The owner showed up and threatened to call the police. I asked for the inspection report. Clearly the inspection wasn't done. The mechanic had to get more information from the car and he and the owner then prepared a report. I paid the $50 under protest. Another garage did the inspection ( it took well over and hour). The rear brakes were adjusted. The front brakes were fine. The inspection cost $35. Lousy customer service and borderline deceptive practices. I'll never go back to Herb and Rob's. read more

STAY AWAY!! The owner is a thief and will swear at you in front of other customers. I cant figure out how he gets any business with his attitude. He told me the car needed a few things for a sticker, and it would cost $250. I said go ahead as long as it gets a sticker. I come pick it up and the bill is over $500 and it did not have a sticker. This place will gouge you for even the easiest fix. The owner was charging upwards of 500 dollars just for a brake line. Took him 6 hours to finish a job that would have taken me 2-3 hours. His rate is far higher than it should be for his skill. I talked him down to 400 even when it should have been a 300/350 dollar job at the most. Right when I did this he said he wouldn't do business with me anymore and was extremely rude for a business owner. Just told me "you can leave now" and talked over me the whole time (kinda funny how this happens immediately after I mention the better business bureau). Very disrespectful, won't give an estimate (IMPORTANT: THEY HAVE STATED IN REVIEWS THEY MAKE A CONTRACT OF THE REPAIR THAT YOU SIGN BEFORE WORK IS DONE THAT HAS AN ESTIMATE! THIS IS A LIE THEY WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE, THEY KEPT SAYING THERES NO WAY TO TELL HOW MUCH ANY JOB WOULD COST) took 3 days for a brake line, and blew smoke up my ass the whole time. I would recommend any place besides herb and robs. I called 3 times to ask if it would be done by Saturday and was brushed aside each time with a bullshit response. This place should charge 70 dollars an hour for the work they give you not 95 (he told me he charged 100 dollars an hour once I was paying. Still bad business). Long story short this guy is gonna shaft you for any easy job and if you know he's over charging you he won't do business with you afterwards. This man is preying on the uninformed to make a quick buck be warned. His regular clientele probably pays a few hundred dollars more for a job that any mechanic would do for a reasonable price and have the same result. Also look at their responses to 1 star reviews. Every one says something to the extent of "we have nothing in our data base related to your claim" essentially telling the reviewer that there's no record of their business. Every response is bullshit and holier than thou " here at herbs we've done business for 40 years and we take such and such to the utmost standard" its a hoax and this guy "Rob" which is no way his actual name because the president of the business is "Rabih". Don't look at the Google reviews because he takes negative responses down from what I've seen from another disappointed 1 star review customer. Their shop is a 4+ star business on Google and barely 2.5 on yelp. Buyer beware this is a place of bad business. If you know what you're talking about and know how much something costs he won't do business with you and will be very rude to you. I wasn't personally cussed out but from the reviews I've seen it does happen. I was still treated very poorly and disrepectfully non the less. I should've looked at the reviews for this place first. Disappointed to say the least. After years of being a loyal customer, I found out I was being over charged and taken advantage of. I was told by Rob, that my check engine light problem could not be diagnosed exactly so they needed to replace part by part until the problem was fixed- which could have cost over $1000. After getting a second opinion, I was told the problem was easy and only $300. It was also a well known issue that was noted by the manufacturer, that any mechanic should be aware of. HIGWAY ROBBERY!!! I had my transmission built exactly two years ago in Portsmouth, NH at AAMCO. A few days ago, I started having issues on the highway in Stratham and pulled off and unfortunately ended up at Herb and Rob's to have my car looked at and fixed. They charged me $576.99 for two transmission sensors and an oil change which I didn't need or ask for--he later said it was a mistake and would take it off my bill. Rob charged me $87 for two sensors, $180 for computer diagnostics, $255 for 3 hours of labor and $25 for fluid. I called Paul at AAMCO and he said it is unheard of for two sensors to go at the same time. Only one would have gone. AAMCO's diagnostic fee is FREE, I should have only needed one sensor, and it would have taken AAMCO less than one hour to fix. The only thing that sounded right to him was the $25 fluid charge. I asked him how much he would have charged if he had done the work and he said less than $100 because I was a repeat customer. If I were a new customer, it would have been closer to $200. I WAS TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!! Plus Rob tells me I need a tune up. I think I'll go somewhere else for that, IF I even need it!! Plus he tells me I need a new water pump........mine was replaced less than 1.5 years ago.......I'm glad to see it's people like me that donate to his Benz and Porche fund!! read more
