Went…read morefor a haircut on the recommendation of a friend who worked very happily with Roger to create a new short hair cut after her post-chemotherapy hair loss and regrowth. My issue is very fine hair that is rebounding from hormonal thinning, and though I'd found a good stylist closer to my home, I was looking for someone who was not only an excellent stylist but also provided an overall pampering experience. Roger totally delivered. His manner is very easy, professional, and confident. He is friendly and expressed genuine interest in me (both my hair and my life in general) and seemed to enjoy sharing a bit about his very intriguing history when I asked. He needed very little explanation of my wishes before taking charge and perfectly executing what I wanted, seemingly deducing my style just from observation and interacting with me. Roger has very high end European training and experience providing service internationally to some extremely prestigious and demanding clients, yet maintains a totally humble interpersonal style. Not only was my haircut perfect, but Roger agreed to help me out with for an 80's event I was attending that night. He curled and pinned my hair resulting in endless compliments that evening. I was so inspired by the trust I felt in Roger's ability to handle my hair and magically know what would work on me, that I asked about highlighting (something I haven't done in years for fear it would destroy my very fine and fragile hair). After a quick consult following my haircut, I felt comfortable scheduling and was back the following week for a partial highlight. I was initially surprised but later wholly impressed by the fact that Roger didn't spend a second showing me color swatches or asking what I wanted in terms of colors or highlights or lowlights or anything. I simply said, "something that looks natural, makes my hair look more vibrant and glossy, blends in the little bit of gray, and won't make my hair fall out." He went right to work and the result is fantastic! He threw in a complimentary full blow dry and styling, and, yes, lots of compliments followed later that day regarding both the highlights and the blow dry. Two more important points I need to make. First, prices are reasonable at this salon. Obviously not Supercuts prices, but I am paying somewhat less here for my cut than with my previous person who doesn't provide a hair wash or really anything beyond the cut. Second, this salon prides itself on an "old school" approach of providing an excellent shampooing experience. If you are someone for whom the shampoo experience is important, you will not be disappointed!

At the time her studio was just down the street from me in Walnut Creek. Little did I know that I would have amazing hair transformations time after time, AND a lightweight therapist LOL. Since then I've followed Krystelle to her salon(s) in Danville and will certainly continue to her new salon in Alamo. Why?? Well my hair in itself gets SO many compliments. But beyond looking fabulous, Krystelle is so patient and so kind. Sometimes I go in with specific and odd requests, sometimes I have no idea what I want and I just entrust her to do whatever. In either situation, she listens to my needs, my curiosities, all of my random thoughts. She is also an EDUCATOR. She takes the time to tell me why certain things could work/ wouldn't work, and why. So I actually feel more informed about my hair and my hair decisions. I decided the light hair wasn't for me and she helped me go back to my natural dark hair. She does amazing work and is a super fun person. I arrived for the appointment about five minutes early and checked in with the receptionist. Rhea, who I had the appointment with was within an earshot as her chair is only a few feet away. Rhea said she didn't have any appointments and I must have been mistaken. The receptionist checked the book and confirmed that I had an appointment. Rhea was in the middle of coloring/dying a hairpiece on a mannequin head, very sloppily from what I could see. She said she would be with me when she was done, so I sat down and waited and waited. While she was doing the coloring, lunch arrived for her. She told me she would eat her lunch and she would with me shortly. I expressed that we were already 15 minutes into my time and now she was going to eat?! So she agrees and has me sit in her chair while she eats. The extension area if the salon on the other side is super busy. Rhea starts off by asking me why I'm there. If you could see my hair, you would know while I was there. It is very thin at the top and this is a wig/extension/hair loss salon. I had come in for a consultation and I wanted advice. I thought I had come to a place that was professional. She said I should consider a topper not a wig. I didn't know what a topper was and ask to see one. She didn't have anything that was near to my color so she put a blonde streaked topper on my auburn brown hair. It looked ridiculous as the color was so off and the density of the hair was so thick compared to my crown. Another customer comes in with a hairpiece she needs styled or colored. Rhea stops my appointment to attend to her while I wait again. Rhea showed me a product that was a powder filler you put in your hair to fill in thinning spots. It was a good match for my color so I said I would buy it. The sample she used was the only one she had left, and she sold it to me as a full sized product even though it had been open and used. I was charged $30 for an opened sample. I later found this elsewhere for $25. I wasn't very satisfied with a sample hairpiece she showed me as it didn't match either in color or in its density. I left feeling very frustrated by the attitude and unprofessionalism of this salon owner, regarding the appointment time, delayed start due to he engagement when I arrived, eating during service, and taking another customer in the middle of my consultation. This was quite a while ago, yet the experience was so bad that I haven't forgotten it. I saw an ad in Diablo magazine which prompted me to finally write a review. Responding to owner's response: Glad to hear you no longer do consultations leaving that to your staff. My consultation with you was on 10/22/21 at 1:30pm. As I said in my review, it was quite a while ago but not forgotten as it was so memorable. Losing hair is traumatic no matter the cause and being treated without respect or compassion by a hair salon geared towards wigs, extensions, toppers, etc is inexcusable. I told my regular stylist at Salon 9 this story and she was angry about my experience at Celebration. I would not subject myself to a return visit.
