I called Henry's Masonry to come give a quote for a block wall that I need laid on a property that I am remodeling. Henry said he would be able to come by the same day to see the property and he did. I walked him through and gave him the dimensions for what I need and it all seemed fine until he started texting me a few hours after he left. He asked if I could pay cash or if there were any other things we could do to get the price down. I said cash would be fine and that I could have the excavation work handled. Then the questions got weirder, he wanted to know what my partner and I did for a living, since we do real estate endeavors I figured I'd share that since we always need subcontractors and laborers. After I said that it totally went downhill and he started asking for a loan. I stopped him right there, this was completely unprofessional and little did I know the most unprofessional part was yet to come. After I turned him down for any loan help he said he wasn't going to give me a quote because "he's been there and done that, when a pretty woman comes out to get the quote, then the man comes out and kicks ass and he's too old for that but that I did look very beautiful.
This is the most absurd response I've ever gotten just for trying to get a quote for a job. What an utter waste of my time. If you can't handle the job as is you shouldn't be our galavanting and pretending like you can do jobs that you can't afford to do Henry.
I am the one that interviews all of the contractors we work with like many other couples who do remodeling and house flips. I would recommend that anyone looking for professional work stay far away from Henry's. read more
