My nieces (from Los Angeles) and I (from Las Vegas) came to town last week and were all surprised that there has been a new addition to Lamont....Kats. I've worked in the hospitality business in Las Vegas, leading HR for the Venetian and Palazzo and have dined at every steakhouse in the city from Wolfgang Pucks CUT to Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak. Here's the truth...Kats in the 300 person town of Lamont Oklahoma serves better steaks than anywhere in Vegas. And if there is a better steak in Vegas, I'll guarantee you will pay $200-$300 for it rather than the $56 at Kats that will get you the best 16 ounce ribeye that you've ever had. Kats does 100+ covers 3 nights a week from 4:30 to 9:00PM, the beverages are great and the service is impeccable (thanks Leann). I informed the server, and she claimed that when the drink order is punched in, it puts in a higher charge for what is considered a "call" or "top shelf". I find it strange that it took quite a bit of back and forth with server and shift manager to explain something that is black-and-white. To their credit (after the back and forth) they refunded the difference, but how long has this been going on? How many people have been mistakenly over charged? A week? A month? A year? A quick check on Oklahoma's consumer protection and weights and measures law said this is a serious problem.
