This will be a routine stop when I'm back in D.C. You can't beat the service. For a straight razor head shave it costs $28. You get the full treatment. I went twice during my visit. I got a mediocre beard trim. I communicated not to cut the hair around my ears. He cut anyway leaving things pretty misshapen. My barber didn't speak good enough English to understand me, I guess. Suggest making sure and then double confirming instructions to make sure you're on the same page. read more

Don't go here. Nice guy, but barber didn't execute a standard low fade. Instead of starting at a 3 and quickly working up to a longer length, the entire side of my head was shaved to a 3. Also had poor clipper awareness throughout (hair falling down my face, weirdly forceful moving my head, etc). At the end spent a ton of time on the edges of the side/back of head, then tried to charge extra for that work that I didn't ask for. He agreed to charge the price for a standard cut after I queried him on it, but damage was done within the first few minutes of the cut. My boyfriend came here as a walk-in to get a pretty standard haircut after letting his hair grow for a while. He showed the guy a photo and explained what he wanted. 20 mins later after essentially shaving the sides of my boyfriends head and leaving the top of his head alone, he combed the top down completely flat and straight so he had bangs and said he was done. My jaw dropped and I was literally in awe. I had never seen such an awful haircut, and I immediately laughed thinking it was a joke. It absolutely was not. I asked him if he could please add some layers or cut the top shorter so it blended in better and he stared at me like I was speaking a different language. We immediately left and when we got home my boyfriend buzzed his entire head himself. That's how awful the haircut was. Beware of coming here unless you have a regular person. We will absolutely never set foot in here again. read more

They CANNOT FADE your hair. If that's what you're looking for, they can't do it. Your hair won't be FADED. I asked for a medium fade. When she finished and showed me I told her it wasn't faded at all. She said yeah I'll fade it. She just completely cut everything off the side and left my long hair on top. Henry said he'd fix it but my haircut was ruined. He tried to PAY ME $25 but I refused it. Don't promise a service that you cannot deliver. Don't be a sucker. This is not a place to get a skin fade. Walked in on the shop needing a haircut. It had been a minute so I asked for the sides and the back to be cleaned up and told the dude that I wanted as little as possible taken off the top as possible as I was trying to grow it out longer. He seats me in the chair faced to the side and I can barely see whats going on. Lo and behold at the end of the cut half my length is gone off the top and he says "I had to take more off the top so it would blend in better". Without asking me at all you cut off 2+ inches when I said I was trying to grow it out? Poor razors/razor job too left my neck all scraped up. Awful experience. read more

Henry would be fantastic barber at any price. At the prices he charges--a far cry from the $65-$100 that seems to be standard in DC these days--he is an exceptional one. For most barbers, it takes a few tries for them to dial in your cut. Not Henry. He got it right the first time. Not only does he give a great haircut at an unbeatable price, but his service is also unmatched. When I messaged Henry about needing a last-minute trim before an unexpected trip, he responded within seconds and scheduled an appointment for just 90 minutes later. On top of all that, Henry is just a nice guy. He's easy to talk to and leaves you with a smile on your face. Oh, and he accepts Venmo--which allows him to offer the prices of a cash-only barber with the convenience of one that accepts credit cards. Im a grad student at GW and I have a very busy schedule and if your schedule is anything like mine I would not recommend this place. I would always text Henry for an appointment to come in beforehand and on two occasions I had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seen, it caused me to be late to class one day.
