A few years ago, I was referred by my primary care doctor and have been going to Dr. Fox ever since. He is the best hematologist I've been to (I've been to a few); and I've have been able to call and get into the office without any problems (and, most importantly, get any and all issues revolved quickly). About a year ago I decided to try to get myself back in shape. Which is not an easy undertaking since I'm in my 50's. On the recommendation of a friend I went to see Doctor Fox, and I've very glad I did. He gave me a thorough physical and then scheduled a second appointment so that we could discuss the lab results after they were completed. We discussed the results and my concerns and he was very patient in listening to my worries, offering his professional observations, and discussing possible ways to approach my problems. Since I'm in my fifties, he referred me to some other specialists in the downtown DC area for some additional tests and screening and then followed up with me about the results. I still have a ways to go, but I've very glad that I'd had the opportunity to meet Dr. Fox and to work with him. To be honest, I was dreading having to deal with my physical issues. And although it hasn't been easy, Dr. Fox has been patient and sympathetic as I've worked through my issues and at least started on the road back to good health. And he is an easy going person so I didn't feel nervous in raising my problems or worries when meeting with him. I have always found his office staff to be very pleasant, polite, and easy to deal with. And his medical technicians in particular are just very nice people and go out of their way to put you at ease during blood draws and tests. One final thing I'd like to share, we recently had a late season snow storm hit the DC area and my appointment with Dr. Fox was scheduled for the morning of the storm. He called me---that's right, the doctor called me---to see if I wanted to change my appointment so as to avoid coming out in the storm. When is the last time you heard of a doctor personally handling his appointments to help patients deal with bad weather? Pretty unusual right, but I want to include that here just because I think it's a good indication of the dedicated physician that Dr. Fox really is. I was referred by my family practice doctor to see a hematologist because of some abnormal blood work. Dr. Fox's practice seemed like a good fit. I went to his website and was prompted to make an appointment online. I did, and I was pleased with the process. Many days later, I was called and informed that the "website isn't very good" and the office was "double-booked". I was told that they had to cancel my appointment. The next available appointment was three weeks later. I cannot wait that long. I can't believe that they have an unworkable website scheduling system in place, and then when THEIR system doesn't work, they call and cancel without being helpful to work in that person within a reasonable amount of time. read more

Seeking advice from Dr. Fox was very disappointing. My daughter had to wait over one hour to see him. We found him to be disinterested in her blood disorder problem as a hematologist. He also did not order blood tests since she was in the hospital recently. He did not understand the severity of my daughter's illness with Lyme Disease and how it impacts the brain and other organs. He was discourteous to me as her mother and told me he does not speak to parents. Suggest that he retire from his practice as he is outdated. read more

Dr. Fox is a competent doctor, but I have to give his business 1 star and strongly recommend prospective patients look elsewhere. Dr. Fox's practice bills for as many services as it can get away with in a single visit. There is nothing inherently wrong with billing for multiple services when multiple services are rendered, but it gets shady when you go in for a physical and find yourself billed for the physical (okay), lab work (okay), and "consultation services" (wait a second). When I first visited Dr. Fox for a physical in 2014, he clearly and explicitly warned me that discussing anything outside the limits of the physical would constitute a consultation and that I would be billed for it. Apparently patients in the past have had some "confusion" over this. Fair enough, I did not discuss any issues other than what he asked about during the physical, and I received an accurate bill. I went back to visit him in mid-2015 for an injury. This second visit clearly constituted a consultation, so no problem when I got billed for that. The third visit was later in 2015, a physical again. I did not seek consultation services during the physical, I simply filled out the forms, answered his questions, let him examine me, did lab work, and left. Keeping his earlier disclaimer in mind, I did say to Dr. Fox at the beginning of the physical that I was only present for a physical and did not wish to receive any additional services. Later, I received a bill that included charges for consultation services in addition to the physical and lab work. I called to inquire why, and learned that it was because Dr. Fox indicated he treated me for the injury during the physical, hence consultation beyond the standard physical. Because I checked a box on the intake form (standard during physical) regarding the injury, Dr. Fox did ask me if I was still suffering from the injury during the physical and I indicated I was no longer experiencing symptoms. He provided no treatment, and this 30 second conversation was clearly within the context of the physical. I explained this to the billing office and they said they would check with the doctor and get back to me on the charges. After waiting over a month, I received no follow-up from billing and continued to get robo-calls telling me to pay up. I called back, they escalated the issue, disabled robo-calls, and stated they would reply soon. They followed up approximately one week later and said Dr. Fox had declared the above-described exchange qualified as a separate consultation and that my injury (which has healed) could have been "life-threatening" (nonsense), therefore he was obliged to perform a consultation during the physical and bill me. I explained that to the billing representative. She was sympathetic and indicated that I was not the first patient to express concern over this practice, but this is how Dr. Fox plays the game, so I had a choice: Pay the bill, or don't and get reported to the credit bureaus. Fine. I paid the bill. Dr. Fox, you've lost a patient and added to your lousy reputation because of your greed and shortsightedness. Good luck with your business. read more

Extremely rude doctor...does not care about servicing patients. He is very put out when asked to do the simplest things...check a box and sign his name for iron infusions. All of his responses to the simplest of requests were curt and sarcastic. I personally believe it's time for him to retire. read more

I've been going to Dr. Fox for years. I stumbled upon his office by mistake, and initially I really wanted to go to a female dr, but I honestly have yet to find someone else who is as professional, patient, thorough, nice, efficient and plain normal! The office staff is wonderful. Dr fox will ALWAYS call u back and patiently answer ur concerns, questions over the phone even. They also make time for you on short notice, if u get sick and need to go in. I just have never had any negative experiences, and trust me, I'm as fickle and picky as they get! They even fax results to u immediately overseas etc ;) read more

I am a new patient with Dr. Fox and quite impressed with the care he is providing. He is knowledgeable, patient, explains well and for as long as needed. He performed a procedure on me today that went smoothly, in part because he had allayed my anxiety so well beforehand. I would recommend him unreservedly. read more
