Dr. Van Lancker saved my life after years of treatment for my allergies and severe asthma. When…read moreeverything got much worse, while all my medications stopped working, Dr VL was determined to figure out the problem, and find a solution. She pulled together a team of the best diagnosticians and although it took a few years, she figured out that I had one of the rarest of diseases. And she promised that together, with experts at NIH, we would figure it out. She got me into a trial of the biologic drug, Xolair, which made a tremendous difference. But the rarest disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), took 5 more years to get a new biologic. But the miracle was that with the first injection of it, I went into complete remission. Unfortunately she moved from the major practice she was in to a smaller one for several years, so I have missed her. I'm hoping to hear soon that she takes my new insurance and will take me back as a patient. Most patients will never have to deal with the complexities this fatal disease brings to treatment for asthma and complex allergies. But if you are concerned about your disease, or have another project, I wholeheartedly endorse her. Fingers crossed she'll take me back soon. Debbie A

It is certainly no fun when you or a loved one finds out they are going to need surgery. But when…read moreour family physician diagnosed a condition in my husband that can only be truly treated by surgery she recommended Dr. Oristian and we are so glad she did. Rich and I feel so lucky that we live in an area with outstanding medical care from our primary care doctor; to the cardiologist, who did pre-op work-up; to Dr. Oristian; to Holy Cross Hospital's surgical staff. Dr. Oristian took his time to explain why Rich's condition did call for surgery, to explain the process, and our options. When there was a very minor concern after the surgery he called us immediately and checked back with us two times that evening to ensure that it was indeed a minor complication. As Rich was waiting for his surgery to begin a volunteer stopped to talk to us and said he had had the same procedure 3 times. He said he had asked various nurses who he should use for his surgery and they all recommended Dr. Oristian. I have always thought if you need a physician referral, talk to a nurse. They know. Also, we noticed that he was named a top surgeon, a peer reviewed honor, in the latest Washingtonian Magazine. Not only was Dr. Oristian 5 stars but so was his staff. I don't wish surgery on anyone but highly recommend Dr. Oristian if needed. I just mentioned to Rich I was writing my review and he chimed in "5 stars is not enough!".

He was a down to earth doctor and was not in it for the money like most are today. He was there to help and do what ever he could for you. I believe you said he said go to the hospital where he was put in ICU because they could not help your father in law either. If the Hospital could not help him, how can a primary care doctor help in his office except by sending him for tests. I have had many bad doctors and Dr Peter Sherer was a great doctor. He would listen to you and go out of his way. Since he retired, I have yet to find one even close to his quality. The doctor who bought his practice is a real idiot. He has gone out of his way to help me in a situation that was very difficult -- spending time filling out paperwork to help me get assistance with an impossible-to-pay copayment, and letting me use his office as a depot to receive the medication, since delivery to my home would be difficult, as nobody would be here to accept delivery. He is old-fashioned in the best sense, still working in the patient's best interest, which a lot of doctors do not seem to follow as their guide these days. Many doctors seem to overbook, making more appointments than they have time to handle, so that a patient is forced to wait a long time past his appointment schedule before the doctor will actually see him. Dr. Sherer does not work that way. In fact, I have on more than one occasion arrived a while before my scheduled appointment time, and the doctor has seen me before my scheduled time. In fact on the first occasion that I saw Dr. Sherer, when my wife had wanted to accompany me so she could ask some questions, she arrived 15 minutes late, by which time Dr. Sherer had already finished seeing me. Although he was already getting ready to leave the office, however, he was willing to stay and answer her questions, though she was not even his patient. This is the kind of doctor Dr. Sherer is.

I'm a male in my 20s who went in for a blood clot issue in my right leg. I was unable to walk for a month because of the swelling and blood clot. I was desperate to see a Hematologist as every other office was booked for months. I went for my first visit on crutches and Dr. Sahebi consulted me and told me to get my knee drained and see her in 10 days. As I was setting up the next visit, the guy who handles the billing rushes to me and states that I owe them $189 for the services today (consultation). I told him I had insurance and that I should have met my deductible because I had gone to 2 ER visits, seen 3 specialists and my primary twice already before this visit. He told me that I actually did owe them $189. Not know that he was going to actually submit a separate claim for the same service to my insurance, I paid up front. I then return 10 days later to do the blood work to see if there are any clotting disorders I have and was charged 10% of the service charge, which he said was $25. After a couple weeks, I noticed that the charges were all wrong. I saw in my claims that I owed my insurance $18 for the first service that I paid $189 for, and $14 for the second service I paid $25 for. That means that I paid $200 over what I should have, AND the doctor's office was ready to get paid twice for the same services. I went over to speak with the billing guy and because I confronted the man about the mistakes and asked him to speak with the insurance representative I had on the phone, he stated "I do not have time for this I am leaving. I don't care about this right now" and pushes me out of the office as I am trying to get him to speak with my insurance representative. PHYSICALLY PUSHING ME OUT OF THE OFFICE, YELLING AT ME, AND ASSAULTING ME! I have been dealing with this knee issue for months now and the very doctor's office that is supposed to be aiding me in figuring out the problem is causing more harm by pushing me. I went to the police and filed a report with them and even asked for emergency medical care because my knee started aching and I started fearing that it was a repeat of what had happened in the past. I have also filed a report to the business board and licensing board regarding the matter as well. I am not sure where he learned his business etiquette but this is not something I am familiar with.
