When I approached the owner about finding something in another size she mentioned that she carried sizes that were appropriate to her customer base and if she stocked items with every size available she wouldn't make any money. Basically shaming me for needing a larger size. I wasn't asking for anything extreme just a size XL (to fit the girls) or a size 10 jeans. I don't need the rude attitude and I'll happily take my business downtown to another boutique in town that doesn't passively fat shame women.

Every nook and cranny of this creatively designed shop was overflowing with eclectic treasures. You'd swear you'd find Iris Apfel herself shopping in this dream house! After sifting through troves of wares, I settled upon an artfully designed, one-of-a-kind vintage purse covered with charms, game pieces, gears, buttons and other miniature notions (there's even a tiny tea cup and saucer by the clasp!). One look and I fell for it, hook, line, and sinker! I was in love! And the price? A measly $38! The compliments this beauty will elicit? Priceless! As I meandered through the store, the cheerfully patterned tights tempted me... the wacky but wonderful statement necklaces wooed me... the funky and fearlessly designed tunics tempted me... the shutter displays of baubles teased me.... but I resisted... We no longer had to go to NYC to get top-of-the-line clothing for my beloved bride to wear. We have never understood why the owner. 'Sheila,' didn't sell it. She could have made a bunch of money (helping small-business owners prepare their companies for sale is part of the small portfolio of a highly specialized services we offer to small-business owners, and I have zero doubt that she could have made at least six figures, and maybe seven, had she explored a sale). I scored an Ella Moss top for 30 dollars on clearance, and Free People jeans that make my a** look fantastico. The southern ladies that run the shop are super helpful and hospitable. If I am ever down in Lexington again I will hit up this place for sure. In fact I may have to go back tomorrow before the wedding I am in town for to get that totally cute plaid coat I saw.....

Solace is a terrific shop brimming over with many unique handcrafts. The best thing is the owner…read morewho knows her inventory thoroughly and can make wonderful suggestions. However she does not insist on helping if you don't desire help. You are free to wander around and enjoy. The staff also knows the inventory and is very helpful. As you turn you will see wonderful giant butterfly art installation on the outside of the building inviting you inside. The officials greeters are two well trained pups. Worth a trip.
