We ordered the potato skins which were good, and garlic parm wings. Which were on special on Sunday. The wings we huge! We ordered them crispy, I wouldn't say they were extra crispy but were soggy. The garlic parm sauce was decent. My folks ordered the Philly and the Italian, the subs looked good and they didn't complain. The coleslaw left something to be desired though: our waitress was nice and attentive. Overall it was a good experience.

No food offerings but staff was quick to suggest local options easily within walking distance. The beers were very good. I enjoyed their ESB then a Hefeweizen. Both well made and tried to style. Backstretch is super casual (given Ohio Wesleyan is nearby - its almost a college/town bar) but great to come in a sit at the bar or one of their booths. It isnt big, maybe 15-20 bar stools and 12 booths and 1-2 tables. This time we picked a booth and a great server (Jacobi) helped us right away. Fun part of backstretch is the staff. Servers are friendly, you can watch the cooks prepare your food, and they have a full bar. Note they dont have many draft beer options, but servers tried hard to get us something we liked. Food here is fresh off the grill and tastes like home cooked food - from their Reuben(which was amazing) to Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (has kick but so good) - you cant go wrong. This time we added Tots, Mac and Cheese, and the Deviled eggs (most sandwiches are served with a deviled egg - tasty). We also tried Jacobi recommendation of Hencock Tots - wing sauce - cheese and bacon. Should have just made that my meal. Amazing. They dont take reservations but unless there is an event in downtown, you can usually walk in for dinner. This was our third visit in 60 days! Ready to go back - thanks Jacobi for a fun night and see you all soon.

An honest review. Have really been wanting to try this place. Got the burger because everyone raves…read moreabout it. Basically a smash burger cut in half in melted cheese. Great presentation but fell slightly short of more gimmick than "chef inspired." Burger just wasn't anything special for a $20 burger. Thurman across the street is probably a better choice. My wife got the Cod Schnitzel, sounded good but was a pretty small piece of fish for $27. I asked how it was, she said bland, even with the sauce. Really wanted to love this place. Might try again to see but unfortunately wasn't what we were hoping for. On the bright side, man our server was 1000% wonderful!!! So attentive and wonderful!

The best part of the meal was the appetizer - sautéd mushroom toast - really tasty! I don't recommend the Steak au poivre (a filet with sauce = supposed to be a classic French dish of pan-seared steak, traditionally filet mignon, crusted with coarsely cracked peppercorns and served with a rich, creamy pan sauce made from the pan drippings, cognac, and heavy cream.) - cut of meat was definitely not tender enough as filet should be, sauce was okay but not "au poive" & oddly it was served with traditional french fries which I found a mismatch - I would not order that again. Wife ordered the evening special Flounder - it was pretty good. We'll go back sometime & try some other things. Most people around us were ordering sandwiches, and they looked pretty amazing.

I like to go to Irish bars. It's usually a fun and festive time. They are good for great drinks and whiskey. It's not the case here. There is a festival the bar holds each year. It's not as cool as it sounds. There's mostly just a bunch of regulars here all the time. It has cocktails just like any bar. They have some drink specials but not much else that sounds good. It also sells food but I have never seen anyone eat. The food is mostly greasy artery clogging shit. If you're in the area you may want to check out Tommy O'Bryan's.
