Nice stop on the Ale Trail. Third brewery within a city block. Craftsman like interior. Music was nice loud (which I enjoyed). Good selection of beer with friendly service. We almost walked past the brewery until we noticed the artwork in the window.

Where to start...we love Staas. We love everything about this brewery. It is owned by a phenomenal husband and wife team. Donald and Liz treat us like old friends every time we stop in. It feels like home to us when we walk through the door. They brew such delicious beers, but the beer that keeps us coming back is their ESB (English Extra Special Bitter). Do not let the word bitter scare you away. They have hands down the best ESB I have ever tasted. The perfect maltiness complemented by the smooth mouthfeel. It is an easy drinking English beer. I can sit and drink it all day long in fact, I have done that, and that made for a stupendous day. Pre-COVID Staas would have food trucks in the evening.  But this is post-COVID and we do not need a reminder that our world is different.  Staas currently is not having food trucks. After talking to Donald, he mentioned the lack of food trucks is by design.  His thought is it encourages his patrons to support locals restaurants in the area if they want food with their Staas pint. That is exactly what we did, we supported a local restaurant while having a beer at Staas.  What a thoughtful decision by Staas. I highly suggest next time you are in Delaware, you get a to go pizza from Mohio and a pint of ESB at Staas. You will not be disappointed. Say hi to Liz and Donald for me too.  Cheers!

Staas is the better known Delaware brewery. It has pretty good beer. This has been around a few years. It's pretty cramped at the bar. There's a few outdoor seats and indoor tables. I had the Baumholder. It's a German style beer. This is about $5 for a pint. It's served in a traditional biergarten style glass. This has hints of banana and pepper. It's best served with a lemon. This helps bring out taste. It's not that big inside. It doesn't have a menu. They often have food trucks.

Staas is the perfect little neighborhood pub stop for a cold fresh draft. Whether on your way home from work, wanting to watch the big game or just stopping by before or after dinner, it is a small little place with a friendly staff. We stopped in for quick visit New Year's eve. They have a great selection of drafts to attract any beer lover. Note they do not have wine or any other option, but it is a brewery. As a group we tried several 'flavors' including: Bourbon Oaked Stout, Belgian Golden, German Kolsch, and their ESB. There is limited bar and table seating, but if you are willing to wait around, the tables turn fairly quickly. We had a fun night there and appreciated the staff and other patrons. Definitely a good stop on the Delaware Downtown Pub Crawl.

. Doesn't open until 3pm on Saturday, plan accordingly. Wish it opened earlier. I really enjoyed the Pluggy's Town Porter- vanilla Porter. New shuffle board table is a plus. They sell flights.

Cool place. We stopped here during the ale trail. We had the place to ourselves because we got there at open. Bartender was super nice and knowledgable. I enjoyed their saison. They also had a special brew called drunk turkey (sage IPA) that was pretty tasty as well. Would definitely return!

Okay, I am not a beer drinker and definitely know little about craft beers. So, I ventured here one afternoon with a group from work. What a fun experience! The brewery is owned and ran by a local couple who have a passion for craft beers. They have 12 beers on tap and recently added two English beer engines, (hand crank). Liz gave us a tour of the facility while she and her husband, Donald, explained much about the brewing process and history of their little brewery. I enjoyed the experience because I learned more about beer. They specialize with Belgian and German craft beers. After the brief tour, I had a sampler of 4 different craft beers. My samples included their German Weizen, the Double IPA, Belgian Quadruple and their seasonal Vanilla Porter. My favorite is their Belgian Quadruple. The Quad went down real smooth and has a rich, hearty flavor. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I bought my first growler! Growlers are $5 for the glass and then the cost of the craft beer that you select. Liz & Donald were great as they took time to answer all our questions. You can tell they have a great passion for their beer making from their enthusiasm. I'd definitely drop in again to see what they have on tap.

Backstretch is super casual (given Ohio Wesleyan is nearby - its almost a college/town bar) but great to come in a sit at the bar or one of their booths. It isnt big, maybe 15-20 bar stools and 12 booths and 1-2 tables. This time we picked a booth and a great server (Jacobi) helped us right away. Fun part of backstretch is the staff. Servers are friendly, you can watch the cooks prepare your food, and they have a full bar. Note they dont have many draft beer options, but servers tried hard to get us something we liked. Food here is fresh off the grill and tastes like home cooked food - from their Reuben(which was amazing) to Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (has kick but so good) - you cant go wrong. This time we added Tots, Mac and Cheese, and the Deviled eggs (most sandwiches are served with a deviled egg - tasty). We also tried Jacobi recommendation of Hencock Tots - wing sauce - cheese and bacon. Should have just made that my meal. Amazing. They dont take reservations but unless there is an event in downtown, you can usually walk in for dinner. This was our third visit in 60 days! Ready to go back - thanks Jacobi for a fun night and see you all soon.

That alone would have been worth a visit! We tried a variety of dishes - the wings, mushroom toast, cabbage casar, andouille dog, extra cheesy burger, and the soup of the day (chili). Wings were cooked well as always, though I prefer the Speck lemon/chili seasoning to traditional buffalo. The mushroom toast was impeccable, and the chili was one of the best I've ever had. The burger served on queso was a fun twist. Special mention to the fries - so often an afterthought, the fries here a perfect, with a nice pickle powder seasoning. The only dish that didn't work for us was the charred cabbage Caesar - while the dressing and other toppings were delicious, the cabbage was just too tough. We'll stick with the FANTASTIC wedge salad next time - so glad they kept that from Cove, only reason we didn't get it was to try something new. Overall, we found Rosebud's a fun experience, great to see the same staff, great drinks, and we're excited to see how often the menu switches up. Can't wait to return!

The best part of the meal was the appetizer - sautéd mushroom toast - really tasty! I don't recommend the Steak au poivre (a filet with sauce = supposed to be a classic French dish of pan-seared steak, traditionally filet mignon, crusted with coarsely cracked peppercorns and served with a rich, creamy pan sauce made from the pan drippings, cognac, and heavy cream.) - cut of meat was definitely not tender enough as filet should be, sauce was okay but not "au poive" & oddly it was served with traditional french fries which I found a mismatch - I would not order that again. Wife ordered the evening special Flounder - it was pretty good. We'll go back sometime & try some other things. Most people around us were ordering sandwiches, and they looked pretty amazing.
