"The name on the door should be surrounded with a pair of quotation marks." I made my first visit to "Hemptations" this past Four-Twenty. I was hoping to find a few gems for my "A Little TOO Happy Hour". Where else are you going to go on "Stoner Christmas"? The thought was that this place would be a lot more "Grateful Dead/Phish Hippy-Dippy", but I quickly learned that hemp is a little more "Touch of Grey". That is to say: "boOoOoring". Hemp paper, hemp shirts, hemp necklaces are all totally there, but none have committed to any sort of discernible style. And they're all a little pricey. Compared to cotton, I'm somewhat sure that hemp is no more ecological, but I am absolutely certain that it is no more economical. I did come across some incense that was usable for my purposes, but clothing, stickers, and decorations: let's just say you'd be better off at Spencer's or a Walmart, as they were completely devoid of Grateful Dead Bears, tie-dye, Jimi Hendrix posters, and Rastafarian Lions. "Signs, signs, everywhere a sign": Upstairs and in the back is the super secret special "paraphernalia" room, er, I mean, "the pipes". There is an extra veil of security to this space. A bead curtain entry. Signage about how an employee must accompany you. More signs about using the proper terminology. Signs about asking the employees if you don't know the proper terminology. I think somewhere behind all the signs they were actually selling bongs and hookahs, er, water pipes? All that and "no long haired freaky people" whatsoever. Kind of the opposite of what you'd expect from a place like called "Hemptations". read more

Hemptations is a cute little smoker's haven and hemp lover's store located in the posh O'Bryonville shopping district. They carry the usuals that you would find in a smoke store plus some other extras. The front of the store is filled with all hemp products. There are hemp clothing, hats, notebooks with hemp paper, socks, shoes, and lots of little knick knacks. Then in the back you will find the glass pipe collection. Their collection of these items is pretty small but they did have some nice glass hookahs that looked pretty. I bought a hemp catnip cat toy here the other day (of which they have plenty) to bring home to the kitties. I hadn't even remembered it was in my purse until I caught the little one sneaking it out of my purse. A few minutes later she had ripped the stitching off and had licked the thing clean. So the stitching isn't strongly made, but I can guarantee you're cats will go crazy. They also sell full bags of catnip for the real addicts you may have at home. :) read more

*this review was for a different store, but it's a safety issue and their employees work at multiple locations* They do not care for the safety of their customers. I bought a battery and plugged it in the first time to charge it, it sparked and melted through the battery within 10 min of having it. When I bought it I was told it was a new product and to come back and tell them how it works. I came back to tell them it almost started a fire and the guy shrugged his shoulders and said don't know what to do. I like the incense burning during business hours! Nothing I hate more than to spend money on something that smells good in the package but stinks when it burns!!! Several time I have purchased incense based upon what they had burning that day!!!! Staff is awesome!!!!! I have never had a bad experience with ANY of their staff! I can't say that for the smoke shop next door! They are rude to people in the parking lot!!!! I'm NOT going to drive from Union Kentucky to Clifton to a business where the customer service is less than outstanding!!!! We have plenty of smoke shops in Kentucky!!!! I went to Hemptations while in town on May 24th. I needed CBD pain relief for my mother. The man working was not helpful at all or knowledgeable of his products. Thank goodness I am. He acted as though I was bothering him and the tone of his voice was not friendly at all. How do you sell CBD products and dont know anything about them. I wont be going back and I suggest people go some place were they were are friendly and knowledgeable about the product they sell. read more

I like the layout of the store as well as the ambiance. However, the Caucasian man the assisted me wasn't friendly at all and it seemed as if I he was annoyed by my presence. A customer should never feel like that when he/she wants to purchase products from your store. I felt very rushed and he didn't really know anything about CBD. Sure this place sells hemp-made products like clothing, lotions, candles, and stationary, as well as hemp related books and stickers, but let's be honest: Hemptations makes its money from their "tobacco" smoking accessories in the back. You can find every kind of contraption to smoke "tobacco" with: pipes (glass, metal, and wood), bongs, one-hitters, side-cars, papers, vaporizers, and gas masks!? Prices range from a modest $10 up to triple digits. Because this is a head shop, you'll invariably leave smelling of the incense that was burning throughout the store. That could be a good or bad thing depending on your personal hygiene habits. read more

The absolute worst head shop in the city!!!!! Terrible selection of everything!! The staff is clueless and unhelpful!!

What you'd expect: peace, love, happiness, patchouli, hacky sacks, beaded hemp necklaces, t-shirts with pot leaves, etc. They have some unique stuff but I definitely felt like a bit of a fish out of water in my normal clothing as the staff and their friends eyed me over without saying hello. It's a bit more grown up than your typical college type "hemp" store. I left with mixed feelings. Although I would say if you're walking around the area, it's worth a stop in. read more

Hemptations is one of my favorite smoke shops, specifically for the great selection of pieces they have in the back. While many smoke shops just have your standard, bland, boring-as-hell pieces, Hemptations has a vast amount of quality pieces that go beyond "tobacco use" and can be considered beautiful pieces of art. While they do offer the basic stuff for a deal, get ready to drop a stack on the good stuff--money well spent. read more

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOURE BUYING! I went in with no knowledge for a dry herb vaporizer. The worker helped me and since there was 0 writing on the package I was trusting his knowledge of what he was saying. Went home and it was something diffferent. Hard to give two stars but justified by the fact that its the one shop i can go to without having to head over to clifton... Not really sure who their main clientele is but the products they carry are pretty scattered. If you feel like wandering around and looking at some glass for a while this is not the store for you. They have a decent amount of low grade glass and then just a small case or two dedicated to nice glass. To get to the glass you have to walk through a beaded doorway and now a rope gate as well that you have to awkwardly unhook. Prior to doing this charade you must present your id. Not an issue with me except for the fact that the staff doesnt seem very excited that they have to check your id now and walk back to the glass room to assist you. These guys have been around for a while, obviously theyre doing fine and there are similar yelp reviews to this. This review isnt for them although i hope they do read it, this is for the customers. If you want to go to a head shop and look at glass for a while and talk to someone that seems to appreciate your business this is not the store for you... Head over to any store in clifton youll find a better selection and better employees. read more

LET THE BUYER BEWARE! I went into the store looking for some CBD oil for my husband. I went there because they seem to position themselves as knowledgeable about CBD products. It is a cute little shop packed full of all kinds of stuff, however that's where the cute ends. I asked for some advice on the oil and the young man was very vague about how it worked and what to get - so I finally settled on an $80 bottle of the oil. Great - paid my tab and left. Hubby went to the Dr. and he's worried about drug interactions - so he can't take it. Back to the store I go - and am told sorry but we don't accept returns - WHAT I said - surprised - and he then pointed out the sign on the side wall with all the other stuff - oh and on the receipt - put my glasses on - well there you go. Fine I get it their policy - BUT - no one said anything, pointed out the sign - nothing. Stores are certainly allowed to have their policies - I get that, but should be a bit more transparent. So - as I said - do your research - don't go their for advice because you won't get it, and if you do buy anything there make sure you really, really want it. read more

On June 26, 2019 about 10:30 in the morning, I went into the Madison road store and was met by a large grey and black German shepherd, being shocked I stopped and started to leave but was encouraged to come on in that she was not going to bother me. I am a senior citizen and a friend had told me to get cbd oil for my joints. the young man behind the counter (Marvis?) was not helpful when I asked about the product. another gentleman (Andy), standing on the customer side of the counter begin to answer my questions, I asked if he worked there and he said yes. Neither of these men were knowledgeable nor did they seem anxious to help me, and act as though I was inconveniencing them I informed them this was my first time in the store and I know nothing about the products. After my purchase and a painful experience I informed Andy how they made me feel (unwanted). He said I should look up information about the product for myself and he said my opinion was like elbows and a$$ holes, everybody has one. I was shocked, appalled and offended. I told him I was an ordained Pastor and was offended of how he talked to me and used profanity. I will never go to that store and will tell others of my experience. read more
