I walked around the exhibitions. This was all about the rice industry in the Katy area. I was born in Asia. Rice is a staple in our culture. It was so intriguing that I checked many of the readings. I asked the man at the door about the history of rice in Katy. He told me " Probably, German immigrants brought rice here". I guessed that the Japanese taught how to grow rice in Texas. I was wrong. They are not in the Veranda but are in close walking distance. The Veranda was perfect, open, airy and so pretty! The rental comes with four round tables, linens and chairs. They provide spandex covers for the buffet/main tables as well as all round table linens in crisp white. Ana Alicia and the rest of the staff were amazing. Super helpful, and friendly. They are super accommodating from start to finish. The deposit was returned in less than a week! I highly recommend this venue!

Austin, Isaac H. Kempner, B.F. Terry, and Jane Long to be exact.) Since this part of Texas was colonized in the 1800s, landowners here had plantations with cotton and sugar cane. And since they were part of the confederacy, they did have slaves. So yes, slaves were in this part of the country, in addition to the KKK. The museum doesn't condone slavery; it was simply letting us know that it existed around these parts. What people should take offense from is that B.F. Terry, though apparently an excellent fighter, was a slave owner and yet he has a high school named after him. The museum itself is small, but your admission also goes towards 2 house tours. I really enjoyed the Moore mansion. The docent was very good in explaining what everything was and delving deep into the family's history. If there's anything they could improve on, I would suggest updating some of the museum info, specifically, the surrounding town populations with information from the 2010 US census. Additionally, it's hard to remember the Moore family tree; I think it'd be helpful to have a poster with the family tree to help us visual learners see how everyone is related and who made what changes to the house.

She was super responsive, attentive and easy to work with! This years banquet was one of my favorites and we moved to the Forum Ballroom. Not quite sure what the appeal to this venue is besides the "wildlife" but we did see a few wandering peacocks screaming on top of trees and defecating around the parking lot. There were 2-3 zebras and a few deer behind one of their fences but we did not see anything that would describe this location as a safari. The venue itself was slightly dated and honestly not what you would think of for the more modern millennial wedding locations/ aesthetics. The men's bathroom had the lovely 3 urinal with no divider setup and the interior of the venue we attended reminded me of a Luby's.

I found ADDA shortly after, I was offered a tour of the property with the most patient people. They were flexible with me and let me book 2 days prior to my event. Even though it was 30 degrees outside, they kept the building warm and comfortable. Before arriving to the property, they set up the tables and provided extra table cloths. I will definitely be booking future events here.

This is the second year we've come here in May to pick blueberries and blackberries. One of the…read moreworkers said that blueberry season is really a short 4-6 weeks time frame while blackberries are most of the summer. This year 2025, the blueberries are sweet but on the smaller side. The blackberries were not as good as some of them are tart or even sour as some seem to start fermenting? However in 2023 the blackberries were soooo sweet and juicy that even my husband liked them and he usually doesn't like blackberries. Maybe this year just wasn't good for blackberries. :/ The busket (basket bucket) is $1.50 and berries are usually $8-10 per lb but they ran a Memorial Day weekend promo for $4 a lb. We filled up our busket about 2/3 of the way for 2.7 lbs or $11 in blackberries and blueberries! Cheaper than Costco! Although it is a 45 min drive for us. Giant sunflowers were available too but all the wildflowers were picked already. Things to bring: Busket - if you already have one! Sunscreen - protect your skin! Hat - it's sunny! Water and a refill of water - it's HOT and you easily drink through 2 water bottles, plus if you use any to clean your pickings. neck towel / fan - nice to have I would also consider looking for a parking spot in the shade, usually to the left by the Farm Funland. I also put up our cars sunshade which helps too. This time, my 4 yo said her car seat wasn't that hot (whereas she will usually complain if it is), so i think jt worked! We only spent about 1.5 hours though from 1030-12noon, as it was getting really hot and the kiddo was over it. Overall, fun experience and some good berries but do come prepared for the heat!

They have a decent amount of wines on their menu including some Texas wines. They also offer wine flights. I ended up getting a glass of Rosé and I really enjoyed it. While we were there, we walked around and explored the space. The main tasting room area is large. They have a private room in the back near the restrooms. The entire building has a rustic feel to it. They also have a large deck out front. You could certainly host a large event at Braman as there's plenty of space (and parking).
