I started doing business with Helzberg when my husband purchased my engagement ring from them almost four years ago. At the time, Helzberg could make custom jewely and that is what my husband opted to do. My ring is absolutely beautiful. A couple years later when we were ready to buy our wedding bands they no longer offered custom jewely. Despite this, we both found bands we love and the one I selected actually fit my ring like it was made for it anyway. I've also used Helzberg to fix my grandmother's diamond rings and even break up the stones in one of her rings and have them inserted into new jewelry for her children. Every time I go into this location the employees recognize and remember my husband and I and are so friendly. They can sometimes be pushy when it comes to selling but it's not bad or annoying. I've spent thousands of dollars at this location and have always had a good experience until today. I specifically went to the store to shop for a necklace and get my jewelry cleaned. I was wearing my mask. The store was empty except for employees. The snarky salesperson chastised me for not having the mask up high enough. I will not be disrespected and immediately left. I selected a beautiful diamond cross pendant from a wonderful and informative sales lady, Cheryl N. She offered to clean my ring as well as my friend's and introduced us to Shevon S, who completed the sale. He was nice enough and knew his stuff... but I honestly would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the snarky comment that I got after asking whether I would get a cleaning cloth with my purchase. I was told that I would get a box and bag in a tone as if I was lucky to get that. Being in Management and retiring from retail after 30 plus years of service I really wanted to chastise him for his comment. A simple we do not offer them would have sufficed!! I left feeling some kind of way about a great experience that ended with a bad feeling in my gut for that snarky comment. Anyway, I'd like to commend Cheryl N. on a job well done! We contacted customer service and asked for our ring that was sent in for a repair to be sent to us or at least to a different store and they did nothing for us. Out of all the jewelry stores in the 12 Oaks Mall, this one is miles ahead of the others. My girlfriend and I needed a little education on diamonds and engagement rings, and they couldn't have helped us out more. The staff is very friendly and immediately focuses on what your needs are. They have a very positive attitude that is focused on helping the customer. At no time did I feel like they were "pitching" or trying to get our business. Heck, they didn't need to! My favorite part of the engagement ring browsing experience with them was when they took us into a side room and fully explained how to shop for diamonds and what to look for. They sat us down in some comfy chairs and had us look at different diamonds under a microscope to judge clarity and quality. Very helpful and informative. I came here with my girl friend to look for engagement rings, and I ended up buying one there which was a huge mistake. The main reason I purchased a ring here was because Helzberg was offering 12 months interest free with $50 off every $500 dollars. The sales woman calculated how much the monthly payments would be. I was happy to what she said, so I bought the ring along with the warranty. A week later I got the bill in the mail, and pretty much everything that I was told in the store was a LIE. The monthly payment was double what I was told, the $50 off every $500 dollars was not applied and there was only 6 months interest free. When I went into the store and asked about everything, the store manager could only apologize and said it was wrong for her saleswoman to do that to me. The manager said that the 12 months interest free applied to a different line of credit that I was not approved for, and there was nothing she could do about. I returned the ring my girlfriend fell in-love with, because we did not want a ring knowing that we were SCAMMED. However, it was not just this single saleswoman that LIED to us, the 2 other salespeople were also in on the SCAM. We were the only ones in the store and the other salespeople were also helping us. Furthermore, the extra warranty on the I purchased to protect the ring was very misleading. In the store, the saleswoman said you can bring the ring in every 6 months for cleaning, and if there's something wrong with the ring, Helzberg will replace it for free. However, when I got home and was reading the pamphlet I was given with the ring after I purchased it, the pamphlet stated that the ring has to be brought in every 6 months or the warranty would be voided. I wouldn't have bought the extra warranty if I had known this, because I know that we would forget to bring the ring into the store after a few years. (Just some more information the saleswoman misled me about) In-store experience: The sales person was very pushy trying to get me to see how much money Helzberg would allow me to borrow after I told her I was just looking at rings. Also, when I asked her questions about the ring, she seemed irritated, and it seemed like she was only trying to please my girlfriend. I felt uneasy about my whole experience at Helzberg, but I put that feeling aside. My girlfriend loved the ring, and I was very excited too. The salespeople definitely TOOK ADVANTAGE of us. He showed us different ring settings, the difference between diamonds, and was super knowledgeable about all the jewelry they had in their store. He just told me he was checking to see how much I was allowed to spend. It was a shock when a credit card showed up to my house. He never gave me any information on the credit card. If I could give them zero stars, I would!! Very pushy, pompous and rude salesperson we dealt with. My husband and I were looking for a 25th Anniversary wedding ring set to mark our anniversary. We walked in and were treated awful, like we weren't good enough. We were looking for certified diamonds and the lady in her late 40's or in 50's with bleach blond hair was wanting to show us the uncertified which we pointed out they had visible flaws and she said well you won't find flaws in any of our diamonds and continued to walk over to better diamonds and said see no flaws here and acted like she was better than us, and we were treated with utter disrespect. I contacted corporate and received email they would contact us soon and this has been more than a week now. I know they work on commission and sales, I guess they just didn't want us as customers. We went to Jared across the street from the mall and the service there is simply outstanding and so happy with my new ring with a certified 1.5 c and 1 c band.
