She told me to leave and not worry bec she wasn't going to leave her. I was right away at ease and grateful. Actually, all the nurses were caring and attentive. I feel proud to have such a wonderful facility in our neighborhood!

We are writing this review to share our boundless joy at the experience Bianca had when she travelled to NYC to visit her cousin at St. Vincent De Paul Home. What an amazing, caring, loving, clean, happy, and professional environment she found!!! The staff truly follows Christian values in patience, care, and abundant love for the residents. Nurses, Aides, Social Workers, Recreation Staff, Food Service, Housekeeping, and Administrators truly have a team spirit, joined together to focus on the quality of life of residents who are in their care. Their physical therapy program is awesome. The therapist work hard to resolve issues. For example you will be assigned a physical therapist and occupational therapist that will help you recover from your injuries. My favorite PT is Vanny who goes over and beyond. Diane the Occupational Therapist is now PT but is amazing. All others that I have not mentioned are awesome I have just named two whom I had personally worked with me and remained. The Administrator Thara Cesar is professional; she is someone with an open door; resolves issues and respectful. I highly recommend Harlem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for its excellent cleanliness, staffing including supervisions, and care.

My fond Memories consist of our walks daily to leave her at her job at Terrance Cardinal Cooke. Three of us would walk from our breakfast place at 97th and Madison. Her, and her husband, with me tagging along. Her husband wanted to be sure she arrived safe every day. Her shift started very early. Most days we saw the sun rise at the Conservatory Garden across the Street. She always spoke highly of her employer. She was so dedicated. I was invited inside to use the bathroom at times. I found it to be a very nice welcoming environment. Clean and secure. There's always a security official at the lobby entrance. I have no idea what the conditions are for residents. I know my friend was very caring and dedicated. I for one hope I don't have to ever live in one of these residences. Eventually I lost contact with these friends. I heard she retired and her and her husband no longer make the long commute into the city. I still think of them and miss their friendship. I honestly think they got sick of me! Everyone has their own problems. I hope they are both as happy in their retirement as I am.

My friend, who lives there, says the staff are genuinely great but stretched thin, and the public data backs that up: reported nursing hours per resident run around 3.4 a day, under the national average. Good people, not enough of them. Location is the quiet win. It sits basically in the shadow of St. John the Divine, and Mount Sinai Morningside (still St. Luke's to longtime locals) is two blocks north, which matters when a hospital run happens. Amsterdam Ave has real food after visits, V&T for old-school pizza, Hungarian Pastry Shop for coffee. Well maintained, nonprofit, honest operation. Just needs more hands.

During my visit, the residents were enjoying a carnival event, and it was nice to see so many people smiling, laughing, and actually participating. That meant a lot to me because I'd want my loved one to be somewhere they're cared for and encouraged to enjoy themselves. I won't lie the neighborhood isn't the greatest. But once I walked inside, that wasn't what mattered anymore. What mattered was the environment, the staff, and how the residents seemed to be treated.
