It was good that I was able to walk to the bathroom after a week there, as at times aides were rarely available to help. During meals, night time, and at changes of shifts, I waited for assistance quite a bit. Some of the CNAs were better than others. I only got 3 showers during the time that I was there. I found the food poor, and ate PB & J sandwiches many evenings for dinner instead of the overcooked vegs and fish that was offered. Lastly, I had a double room and was sleep deprived due to being kept up half the nights by demented room mates. I was very happy to get home! If I ever have to go to rehab again, I would not go to Margaret Tietz!

They failed to resolve a UTI which put her back in the hospital. And they would not sign off on hospice care, which would have allowed us to take her home earlier. (Finally the hospital social worker did. We brought her home and she died ten days later.) Finally, the billing dept is inept, they couldn't forward pharmacy bills to us so we could pay them and couldn't generate paid receipts for me. The aides were caring and so were the nurses, but the administration is disappointing.

I cannot share enough kind words about Ozanam Hall of Queens NY. After a recent stroke and a twelve…read moreday hospital stay, my dad went to Ozanam for rehabilitative services. My family didn't place dad there blindly, it was by choice, after weighing all the options. We have a family member who is a long term resident there currently as well as a long time family friend who is there too. They love the care they receive and the staffers they receive it from. Their recommendations were well received. From the moment I entered the front door and was greeted by the front desk attendant Lana, I knew dad was in a great, loving, caring and Holy place. I went up to dad's floor, was greeted by every staff member I passed. Not just on my first visit, but every visit. No matter how busy they were, every single person said hello. As time went on, those greetings were by name. It truly felt like dad was being cared for by loving family. My visits only lasted a week or so as I live about 700 miles away, but my experience and my opinions of my dad's treatment are fact based. He could not have received better care anywhere else. The facility was spotless, well maintained and the staff all love why they do. It takes a special kind of person to do this work. Ozanam is blessed with the best. Ozanam is even updating the rooms one floor at a time. It's nice to see the investment back into the facilities. The office staff was extremely helpful, kind and very communicative. They assisted in every way possible, making the daunting logistics of dealing with the insurance companies a less daunting part of the experience. I could not ask for better! I'd like to name everyone I met there who cared for me dad and assisted my family throughout, but I would have to name every person in the public eye as well as everyone behind the scenes there. By God's plan, my dad, Donald B. declined due to advancing medical conditions. He received great personal care and was treated with dignity up to and beyond when he took his final breath. He passed on Sept 22, peacefully in his sleep. The staffers who knew him were as sad as we are. Thank you to everyone at Ozanam Hall of Queens for all you do for every person in your care every day. Stay away from this HOLE. They use all these lazy agency aides who leave your loved one in soiled…read morediapers from morning til night. Saw aides sleeping while supposedly on watch by front desk. If you ask for help they walk away or say I am on a break. They leave rooms dirty and if you go to supervision they just cover it up. They do not isolate people during flu season so everyone gets sick. The aides do less than the minimum attempting to feed patients with dementia. This place is hell on earth for the vulnerable elderly.

I was a rehab patient at Hollis House of Horrors for about six weeks after spinal surgery…read more I have nothing positive to say whatsoever about the administrators, social workers, and other managerial staff who make their money providing the substandard care that patients are subjected to day after day. Anyone who is unable to advocate for themselves will surely suffer. To the extent management takes any interest in the clientele it is only when a sufficiently loud complaint is made, repeatedly if necessary. One morning, a nurse was so quick and rough changing my shirt that my neck was yanked hard enough to require painkillers and x-rays to ensure no damage had occurred. I was also awoken in the middle of the night when someone was taking my blood. The administrator told me it was regular practice to draw blood, and the service comes early in the morning hours. I also blame management on the complete lack of communication between night staff and day staff, as well as staff taking breaks and other staff that remain on-duty. Requests or information conveyed to day staff will likely never be known to the night staff and vice versa. The same holds true with morning and afternoon staff and vice versa. The lack of safety protocols was also evident after I began to feel ill and needed to insist on getting a Covid test.Had I not insisted on the test and the medicine, I likely would've been allowed to interact with staff and patients for days, the majority of whom don't wear masks when interacting with others -even after it was obvious that there was Covid in the facility because I had not been outside in six weeks to contract it elsewhere. To make matters worse, after some investigation, I was advised that the last dose of my covid medicine was used on another patient while they waited for medicine to arrive for that patient- the poor record-keeping and the need for me to insist that I had not finished a full course of the medication was completely unacceptable in a facility charged with administering medication to patients. Also, because of a lack of dexterity in my hand I was supposed to receive a weighted spoon with every meal, which allowed me to feed myself. At least 50% of the time the weighted spoon was not provided to me with my meals even though it was noted on every meal slip given to me with each meal. In another example of management disconnect with the patients in their care, the facility is undergoing renovations that began at 8 o'clock in the morning and continued past 8 PM-Despite the law requiring construction to stop at 6 PM. It makes me physically ill to think of all the patients unable to speak for themselves that likely must endure that construction till 8:00 PM. There was no safety grab bars in the bathroom in my room. When my dirty laundry continued to sit for 2 weeks, the excuse I was given was when there's not enough laundry, it's not taken- Zero acceptance of any responsibility by management. Overall, my stay at the Hollis horror house was almost as traumatic as my spinal injury itself. Being subjected to diaper changes at five in the morning despite my insistence that it's not necessary, the crappy food, the lack of safety protocols and absence of sufficient staff that allows for proper recordkeeping and effective communications between staff to be standard practice makes this place as close to hell on earth as I would ever want to come. I don't believe this facility should be allowed to care for patients at all, but if you are considering this facility for yourself or for a loved one be prepared to vigorously and aggressively advocate on a daily basis for yourself or your loved one. Understand that complaints made to anyone other then the administrator and which you dont document are likely going to be lost if not ignored

Besides 30 minute wait to get Human on the phone JUST to leave a message at a CALL CENTER, after that long wait to leave a message, NO ONE calls you back. EVERY TIME-administrators know this, yet their system is set up this way. On multiple occasions they sent people who could not speak appropriate language for my father-I had to take off work to stay with him until someone else showed up. How can these workers possibly provide care, if they cannot speak the language? How can personal touch dare to be so irresponsible to send people like that?! Department of Health of various states they service should be made aware and shut them down. Thank goodness my father was not harmed and that the family was on top of them as much as possible.

I have to go to that case in a week. The week is gone and I came to the case and when I was on the way, Zoya called me and said she made mistake. I have to go in one week more. The same story was repeated a few times due I called to Union 1199. Zoya stopped to harassment me but I permanently case wasn't given anyway. Than I applied for disability and left this agency. I worked for Jewish community home care agency which was liquidated and all employees were transfer to personal touch. I don't recommend than agency.
