Hired this company on Yelp. On Friday, April 20, I sent a message to Helping Hands Moving stating the address and time we anticipated to meet him. He e sent a message Apparently on SUNDAY evening, he sent a message to reconfirm. I do not check messages on a Sunday evening. When I checked this morning (Monday May 2), while waiting for their arrival today, there was a message at 9:00 AM, "This job got taken off our schedule because we could not confirm the job." When I called them asking why they cancelled, they told me since I didn't reconfirm SUNDAY EVENING, they were not coming. Jim hung up on me without any apology or options. We are a non-profit animal rescue organization, run by volunteers, and we needed this company to help us move necessary appliances to our new facility so that we could reopen and continue with our mission of taking in unwanted kittens and cats and adopting out to their forever homes. I can't believe Yelp would keep a company with such lack of morals on their list of companies. Please be forewarned they do not live up to their commitments. read more

So picking a moving company can make you sweat. Doing it blindly off yelp not much better. I can say that I was surprised and completely satisfied. Communication prior to the job was prompt and all questions answered. We agreed to 2-3 hours. The guys said they would get it done in two. The finished and they charged me only for the two hours. These guys came on two hours notice. Told me price over the phone for two hours which was fair. Communication was excellent, no BS, told me they could come immediately or would be few hours bc they had another job scheduled. I wasn't at the site yet so chose later time and they were there when they said they would be. Then i had gone to grab some small furniture and they waited for me to get back and brought that up to. Hired this company through Yelp! As an experienced mover who moves every 12 months, hiring this company to handle my move was the biggest mistake ever. I highly caution those receiving low ball quotes, have several conversations to be SURE that the quote is accurate, then to be billed DOUBLE when the job is done. When contacting Jim to discuss the charge, as his customer, I was screamed at, belittled, called names, accused of not being able to pay my Bill. Today, as a result of his frustration, has set up several fake ads so that people call me non stop. What kind of professional does this? Huge warning to future customers! We hired the Team to help unload a POD. It went smoothly from making appointment with Jim to the workers sent to move. Very professional and they were on time, quick, and made sure not to scratch walls. The job was a fair price for work performed. I would hire again and recommend for local moving services. The movers were great & efficient. The only ding & loss of star is that I had to give my credit card info over the phone, as the movers didn't have the square. Yes, I had told them I was paying with a credit card. So, I would use them again & just plan to pay cash. read more

So when i got approved for a house i knew right away i needed a moving company. I used flat Rate in the past from NY to Florida and they were okay but this time i was only moving 12 minutes away and not much to move, 20-25 boxes, 4 beds, 3 tv's, 2 tv stands, kitchen table and couches. I checked the local listing and received a few quotes from chain comp to local company's and Jim from helping hands gave me a great quote, was available on the date i needed AND no payment until the job is done. Moving day comes and i was greeted by Jesse and Willis. Very nice and professional. They assured us the move will not take long and will handle our things with safe hands. Sure enough, they were pretty quick and all of our belongings arrived safe and sound to our new home. I scheduled a move with Jim for 10/25 (a monday) two plus weeks in advance. I called the Friday prior to confirm and I was told they were really busy Monday and asked if I could change the moving date. Of course I couldn't commit to changing the date so close to the move and the closing of my home being Wednesday of that week. Jim got very nasty and said he shouldn't even have taken a job because I was too far and I quote exactly asked me " can't you find someone else to move you" . He then hung up the phone without committing to following thru on my move. I called him back a second time and asked if they were going to come or not and he told me I was "on the schedule so they really had no choice since I wasn't willing to work with them but he really wished I would find someone else". I ultimately did find an excellent mover that gave me great service. This company should take some lessons from them in customer service. You will notice several people have mentioned Jim's rude behavior and he always comments and has an excuse blaming the customer on negative reviews. This company is beginning to rack up multiple negative reviews and it will continue if you treat all your customers in this manner. read more

Fast response when looking for quotes and communication regarding the appointment. The guys called about 20/30 minutes out to let me know their approx. arrival time. The movers themselves were on time, courteous, friendly, professional and took care in the couple pieces I requested to be careful with. Jim is extremely unprofessional when dealing with customers. He's included fees in the bill he never mentions to his customers when asking quote and he's incredibly rude on the phone to the point where he's yelling. Do not do business with this company. Helping hands movers was very good, they were professional and took good care of my belongings my only issue is they gave me a quote for three hours of work but it took them six hours to finish I felt like they were purposely working very slow, to stretch out the time to charge me more, I ended up paying them double what they quoted me so just be worn if they say they can do it three hours he will take them six read more

Jim was awesome to make an appointment with, he was very personable and was easy to get in contact with. The movers were great, they were quick and professional. I had some furniture that were on its last legs but they survived the move. Nothing was broken and the guys went the extra mile. We found ourselves in a very difficult position. We needed a move of an item, which was about 450 pounds to be picked up in Ocala and brought to our home off of Highway 42 in The Villages. These gentlemen called and stated they were getting close to Ocala. They then called and told me they were almost to our place. It took everything they had to get this mammoth piece off of the trailer. They helped us unpack it too! We can only imagine what it took for them to get it on the trailer first in Ocala. My complaint is with Jim, the owner. We needed just a couple of pieces of furniture moved. The men who came were late by almost 2 hours but through no fault of their own. They were courteous. When the furniture was moved, and it came time to pay, I requested an invoice. They did not have one. One of them called Jim and what transpired was my getting on the phone with him stating the price they wanted was not what he told me. He became argumentative, rude and hostile. The movers were not leaving without payment and I became very uncomfortable. I paid them in cash. On hindsight, I should have demanded they bring me an invoice and then I would pay it. Jim is not someone with whom you want to do business if you want a good experience. read more

Jim the owner quoted us a price of $299 for 3 hours and $79 per hour after that. We thought that was a great quote and the time did not start until they got there. So we scheduled our move. Jim gave us an arrival time of 9:30 a.m. The night before the move, Jim called to tell us that he needed to move the time between 10:30-11:30am. I told him that will still work for us. The day of the move, no one came by 11:30am. So I called Jim on his cell. He said he was traveling from Tennessee and he will call his crew and that one crew called off and was short handed (not my problem). The guy called me and said he would be at our place at 1pm. I told him he was to be here 10:30-11:30am. He said he got his route in the morning and that was the time he was given. I told okay but please be here at that time. So I called Jim again to tell him that I was upset that I did not receive a call with the new and 2nd time change. Jim started to yell at me, that he was travelling and that I should not be cursing his company or his guys. I said I never swore at his men or his company. He told me then he would cancel our move and that we should find a local company (I thought he was!!!). I told him he will not and that he needs to make sure his guys show up. He kept threatening to cancel our move. I told him again not to cancel. Then he hung up. Talk about a man who was nice to get your business but not nice when questioning his service. The guys who moved our furniture were GREAT!! Very polite, careful with our furniture and quick. I told them what happened with Jim and they said that is not unusual for him to threaten cancellation and that he flies off the handle very easily. How can a man who runs a business be this way and stay in business?? If it was not for the people working for him and always apologizing for him, he would be out of business. The only reason this company is getting 3 stars is because of the crew, not Jim the owner. read more

These guys are a joke! I have never seen grown men move so slow. They intentionally go over the time so they can gouge the hell out of you since you are stuck with them. They were 4 hours late, more than likely pulling the scam on those customers. Stay away!!! Dont make the mistake unless you want to pay double. read more

I live in Daytona and arranged for movers to unpack a POD for me. The communication was great; they checked with me the day before to confirm time was still OK. The guys arrived on time and unloaded the pod without any breakages or scratches on my newly painted walls. All done in double quick time. Matthew and Danny were fantastic. Can't say enough good things about these guys! Due to circumstances beyond my control I had to call at the last minute on a weekend to get help moving 2 rooms of furniture. It was a one-truck, two-man, two-hour job and they could not have been more accommodating. Robert, William and the truck arrived at 8:20 a.m. on Mother's Day morning and had everything finished up in exactly 2 hours. They were friendly and all around good workers. Very professional. They were also very honest. They found a bag of money in the sofa and they promptly brought it to me. I had no idea it was there so they could have kept it and I would have been none the wiser. I also found their charges to be extremely reasonable. I cannot rate them high enough. I would certainly use them again although I hope not to be moving again anytime soon. read more

This company had agreed to send 3 guys to load my truck with my belongings from storage at 9 am. They called me the day before to confirm. On the scheduled day, no one showed up at 9am. When I called, I got the voice mail, and left a message. About 2 minutes later, I got a text saying they had no guys for that day. This put me in a bind, as I had scheduled help to unload my truck in Georgia the next day. I gave 1 star only because 0 stars was not an option. Stay away. read more

They were 15 minutes late and only one guy showed up at that time. The other guy finally showed up but they didn't start for a little while. The second guy that came really did not help much and the first guy was doing all the work. They finally got the trucks loaded and we went to the storage unit. At the hour mark of being there, they had only taken 2 loads of a few boxes each on their dolly. The next thing I realize, one of the guys was walking away. I thought...is he really leaving the job?? Nah...he's probably just going to find the bathroom. Forty-five minutes later, the other guy comes to me and says, "Will you go to the front office to see if the other guy is there?" So I went, and nope! Not there! He walked off the job! The other guy calls his boss and his boss says he was on his way. By then, it had been about two and a half hours at the storage unit and we still had two trucks full! The boss guy gets there and they start to form a plan. Then the other guy who has been working starts yelling and walks off the job! I asked the boss man if I needed to find someone else, and he said he has other people on the way. Well, an hour goes by and another person shows up. The two of them form a plan and finally get the trucks unloaded and the storage units filled. I was originally quoted two movers for $279 (no hidden fees) for three hours and an additional $79/hr for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise that causes the job to be longer. They knew upfront the furniture I had as well as me having anywhere from 75-100 boxes. It took 8 hours with all this nonsense which I do not consider unforeseen circumstances that should cause my price to be higher and the majority of the time was either wasted on breaks or only one man working and not two. The boss wanted to charge me full price, then backed down to taking only 1 hour off the fee. Are you kidding me? Your company has wasted my day and this was not my fault in any way. I paid what I felt was a little higher than fair price because the work was completed, but it should not have taken anymore than 5 hours. I will never use this company again nor will I recommend them. The boss man told me I had a new crew and he keeps running guys off and can't keep them. While I fully understand it's July and we are in Florida, you have to have a better system for keeping men on the job. I do not know how they have a 5-Star rating. read more

I made my reservation 2 weeks in advance to have 2 men load and unload a U-Haul truck for me. 6 days prior to my move I called to confirm the date/time/price and was told they couldn't do my move at the time I had reserved. In order to allow them to do it earlier that morning (before the U-Haul truck could be picked up), I offered to pay the higher price to have them use their truck. They were still unable to confirm a moving time and told me they would just cancel my reservation. When I attempted to tell them I did not want to cancel, Jim hung up the phone. Since it was me who called them to confirm rather than them calling me to discuss my move, I assume they planned to just not show up on moving day. Very unprofessional. read more

DO NOT HIRE THESE MOVERS!! When I called and asked for total cost to move me "Jim" gave me a "special" rate on the telephone and then after moving me the driver stated that he wanted "cash". I gave him a check and said I do not do business with cash. He then stated that the amount he gave me was not the full amount he wanted $41.00 more in cash (again). Then he threatened my daughter and told her he would take all the stuff back. (I did not know this was going on at the time). She only had $20.00 in cash and he took it. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible company do not use them. I am reporting them to the IRS to determine if they are paying their fair share of taxes. Only a shady business would ask for cash. I also am reporting them to the BBB for their hidden charge scam; you cannot quote a total pice and then change it later. I am not done with this company I will do whatever I can to make sure no one uses them and I want the IRS to find out if they are reporting their "cash" transactions.
