I found them pretty quickly - they were just sitting out on the counter so I snagged one. The store is quite large and we took some time to browse - I wasn't really looking for anything specific, but it's always nice to be able to see products in person. They had a good sale section. I loved the local recommendations sprinkled on chalkboards throughout the store - so helpful! I also loved that we were greeted when we came in - it's a small gesture but can really make a difference when visiting businesses and I always appreciate it.

There were tops, shorts, shirts, fleece, jackets, hats and a lot of winter gears. The store was a super clean and tidy. There was a nice sit down table in the middle of the store. We found some nice UV proof beach shirts for our daughter. I also liked a t-shirt and a winter fleece, but the size didn't fit me. So we bought the kid's t-shoes from the store. As expected the prices were on the higher end, as it's Patagonia. But the quality totally makes up for the price. The staff assisted us with fitting rooms, size queries and checkout process. They were very friendly and helpful.

As I browsed the mens wear, my 9-year old Black daughter remained exceptionally well-behaved and within my eyesight. Then I heard a Fjallraven Burlington staff member ask my daughter if she were "by herself." So I walked away from browsing out into the open and asked the staff member "Sav (?)" if I could help with anything. The staff member said, "This is not a children's store. You need to keep your kid with you." The Fjallraven Burlington's staff member traumatized my daughter. No one should be treated like this. Unacceptable.

I had been thinking about buying a Fjallraven Kanken backpack (you know the one, the adorable square backpack that looks like a little kid's bag) for awhile so it was neat to see them in person and all the different colors. They also have lots of outdoor gear, other backpacks, apparel, and a sale area in the lower level. We stopped in twice during our long weekend in Burlington and the employees were really helpful and friendly, offering to show us any color of bag we could imagine and explaining some of the features of some of the products. The store is large and fully stocked with anything you need to be a cool Swedish hipster in nature! The products they sell are pretty pricey but the backpack we got is guaranteed for life and is water-resistant due to the beeswax coating. I really enjoyed checking out this shop and was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff.

With State Park still closed for a few more weeks, we were looking for a way to rent kayaks for a…read morefew hours. I emailed Umiak and paid over the phone for a 2pm rental at the Waterbury Reservoir. It was super easy. Perle and his co-workers were extremely helpful and got us in the water just after 2. We had both kayaked before. The boats are in great shape, everything was clean and in good working order. Understandably, the parking area was quite full, but Perle encouraged us to park along the road, making it less challenging to leave later. We had until around 430pm to return the boats, which was helpful because there was a bit of a bottleneck at the boat launch on a Friday afternoon. They took everything back to the shop, saving is a trip! We had a great time, the price was right ($45 x 2 for 2.5 hrs), and we'll love to come back!

Jake and Emma are fantastic humans, stayed calm and cool through our scary situation…read more I signed up for the 9 mile upper river gorge, rented 2 kayaks. The description mentioned 6 years old and up, So I figured awesome, easy enough for my boyfriend who had never gone kayaking before. There are two rapids that seemed easy enough, but my boyfriend flipped on the first rapid and that kind of set the tone going forward. Getting closer to the second rapid, you could hear the roar of the water, when I could actually see the spot we had to go through, it was cut through large boulders. We where never told to stay to a certain side or that the water level was extremely high. As we got closer to the rapid I could see 3 whirlpools and knew it was going to be trouble for my boyfriend, who was already shaken up at this point. The whirlpool pulled us away from the rapid and towards the boulder, my boat filled with water and dumped me, the multiple whirlpools kept pulling my under trapping me, every time I popped up I could hear my boyfriend screaming for me. We tried to get out and by the whirlpools but there unfortunately was 4 and the current was to strong with the water being to high. I was able to get service and call umiak, I spoke to Emma who stayed cool and calm and Jake showed up like a super hero! We hade to walk up stream and cross the river at a "calmer" spot. Jake grabbed our kayaks and got us to safety once we crossed the river. Jake did mention the river was high and on the verge or requiring a guide, and that we should have gone a certain way around and island to approach the rapid. My boyfriend was shaken up and not willing to go on, understandably. When we got back to our cabin Emma had called to offer us the kayaks at the reservoir. Overall the folks who work at Umiak are fantastic and so caring. Unfortunately we had a really bad time that ended with some trauma, and a sprained finger for my boyfriend, and bruises all over my body. I also understand these are non refundable trips, but I don't feel like I should have to pay the full price for less then a quarter of the experience.

I've never been to a marine supply store before, so I didn't know what to expect walking in to West Marine. I was helped by Peter who was so friendly and knowledgeable that I had to write this review. Besides helping me choose the appropriate fiberglass repair kit, he walked me through in great detail what best practice is for a repair like mine. He also told me about Small Boat Repair on route 7 to look for used paddles. Happy I checked this spot out first though. Thanks Peter!

Every time I asked a question (price check, info etc) he looked annoyed as if I distracted him from more important things... When I told him that a smile would be nice, he took offense and when I showed up at the cash to pay, he obviously ignored me and passed all other customers before us, even if they just showed up at the cash... he did that on purpose. Good that Peter was there and was super nice, if it was not for him I would have let my 350$ purchase there.

Our family had an amazing kayaking tour with Sean from Clearwater Sports. There were 7 of us…read moreranging in age from 12-72. We all had a wonderful time kayaking in the Winooski. While the river was a little low, Sean was great at pointing out how to navigate. He also kept up with all of us, from the fastest to the slowest (me). Sean was a real hit with the 12 and 14 y/o grandchildren, finding the best swimming spots. He also took lots of photos and sent them to us after the tour. And I have to also mention Asa, our driver. He and Sean were a great team. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for a family outing.
