The food is always good each time we come here, but we were very disappointed in the service. It was slightly busy, but there were a lot of open tables and lots of servers. We sat down, no menus, and no sign of any waitress. We waited 10 minutes and finally the hostess brought us waters. Once a server finally came to us, she brought us menus and we ordered drinks and food. All was well, but no one came over to ask us if we wanted another round of beers, so we decided to get the check. I went to the bathroom and our waitress was doing her makeup rather than being on the floor. We were ready to leave, and my boyfriend was going to get the check from the bar. She finally brought us our check after waiting another 15 minutes. All in all, good food. Bad service. Won't be back for a while. read more

Hell's Kitchen is the perfect name for this place. It is HELL on so many levels. I had passed this place many times when coming downtown and never visited. When Copper Penny was overflowing with people we decided to come here for the night. WRONG decision. There wasn't a wait so that was good but once inside you know why there isn't a wait. Everything is overpriced for what you get and things are not cooked correctly. I am no chef or anything but it seemed like everything was cooked to death. Maybe the over/stove/grill they use has a setting called "hell?!?" We ordered a vodka tonic with a splash of cranberry and we got what they called a vodka tonic. All I could taste was bad tonic. Disgusting. Waitress never even asked if the drinks were okay. Me and my guest ordered the Chicken Tenders appetizer and the Buffalo Shrimp appetizer and then split the Philly Steak Sandwich. All of which were bad. The buffalo shrimp were cooked so long they were about an inch in diameter. The chicken looked like breasts cut in half vertically (VERY THIN) and then beaten with a meat tenderizer. Then they were rolled in Japanese Breadcrumbs and fried beyond belief. They were over breaded and cooked so long that all you could taste was old vegetable oil. Philly Steak Sandwich had virtually no meat on it and I ordered it plain. You would think with no cheese, mushrooms, peppers or onions they might put a little more meat on it to make it look better but not here. I will not be coming back to this place. Went there for lunch! Awful service.... Food took almost 40 minutes to get to the table. Waitress was not attentive and even when we asked on a ETA for our food no one person or management team came by to apologize. Restaurant Was not busy at the time of our visit. Two stars-the second one is for the chance this place isn't quite as bad on normal nights. We came here on, unfortunately, 'dueling piano night.' It was the stuff of nightmares. The bar was half-full when the madness started, and maybe two interminable hours later it was empty. Management: take the hint. Volume was way too loud and the by time we left they had played every hackneyed cover that mankind has in his arsenal. Every time I thought, "well, they got that one out of the way, they can't have much left" I was left stunned when they piano-ripped into another rock cliche. Not even fried pickles and Yuengling could save this evening. In the interest of full disclosure, I hate cover bands but not piano nights. I was hesitant to give this place a shot for dinner. I've enjoyed many drinks at this place, but never food. When we walked in there weren't as many people as I'd expect on a Saturday night. We were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we like. Score. The waitress came over immediately and brought us our drinks quickly. When asked her favorite menu items she seems honest and answered all of our questions. Our food was out quickly and it was GREAT! I had the buffalo shrimp quesadilla and the boyfriend had the burger, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare. The waitress suggested I try the quesadilla with blackened shrimp next time. Yum! It was like she could read my mind when I was ready for another beer. The service was absolutely flawless. Over the summer me and my friends frequented the place quite often to watch Red Sox games after hearing that it had a reputation of being a Red Sox Bar. But after attempting to watch several games there when ever the Seventh Inning comes along and they take the game off the big screen to make way for the piano's. BIG MISTAKE. Don't get me wrong im a fan of dueling pianos but couldn't it have waited until after the game, Was a Great let down. Everything up until that moment was enjoyable, just as a Baseball fan you can't expect me to be pleased with watching the game on the smaller tv's with two loud pianos drowning the game especially when one of them was a Red Sox/Yankee Match Up. read more

Service was decent. It was midday with very few tables occupied. Atmosphere was interesting, which I enjoyed and the music choices were down my alley. The Grouper Po-Boy however was not the best. It stated it was lighty battered and fried per the menu but once recieved it appeared it had been lightly battered and fried about 7 times over. I love Hell's Kitchen. We've had some pretty great nights there. The one thing that docks them a star is the complete lack of any sort of ventilation system. I'm really getting sick and tired of having to risk cancer any time I want to go out with my friends. Anyway, it's such a great place to hang out. They've always got great music and drink specials. There is only one pool table, but somehow we usually are able to dominate it for most of the night. This place will always hold a special place in my heart because my husband was jumped by a really drunk guy here. EXTREMELY long story short, he had broken his leg pretending he could still play baseball like he could when he was 16. 1 very long night in the hospital and 1 very long titanium rod later, we ventured out to Hell's Kitchen for a mellow night out with friends. Yeah. There was an odd verbal scuffle over a bar stool that my husband was already sitting on and his attacker wanted to be sitting on. The next thing I knew, the husband was on the ground with said attacker on top of him and the 3 of us girls were pulling the guy off of him. Of course this was the only night in my life that there weren't more guys around than girls. Regardless, it makes for a great story! read more

I had barely gotten my second foot through the door when I decided I was in love with this bar! I am a frequent visitor to Wilmington, and have been to several cool places there, but I had never seen anything like Hell's Kitchen. Someone else described it as a cross between a punk rock bar and a sports bar, and hat review is dead on. I had the crab cake sandwich, which was kind of bland (hence four stars instead of five), but the service was awesome. The fries are ridiculous. This was our first time here, and the food was AMAZING. I had the chicken caesar wrap and my honey had the steak tacos. We couldn't get enough of it! What made this place even better? The service. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu. Not to mention they were very quick to take dishes away and clear our table. Love this place. 5 stars! Been here to eat dinner on two different occasions, the food is awesome and love the atmosphere! Pricing is great and staff is always nice.

Pleasantly surprised that after close to a dozen drinking only visits over the past decade I finally decided to try lunch. It was top notch ! Wife had a Salmon BLT she said was to die for, and I had a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich on Brioche Bun that was easily enough for two. Left there with full bellies and very reasonable check. read more

The atmosphere was fun, and great alcoholic beverage selection. The food menu had so many options! The food was fabulous, and didn't take long to receive, despite being a busy Friday evening. We had fried pickles, chicken nachos and the chicken tender basket. Great bar food! The service was terrible though. Our waitress rarely visited the table and did not offer refills. This is the second time I have been back to Hell's Kitchen since moving back to Wilmington about two months ago. Unfortunately, both times have been underwhelming, which is disappointing because I remember liking This place. Over the course of my two times there I've eaten the wings, burgers and nachos (yes I am a health nut). Nothing I have eaten was bad, but it wasn't anything more than just ok. Also, I was there on a Wednesday and Saturday around 7 and it was empty both times. I am not saying it is never busy, just wasn't when I was there. I sat at the bars both times, so I really can't comment on the wait staff, but the bartenders were fine an were attentive. So, overall Hell's isn't bad, it just wouldn't be my first choice...or second or third...maybe fourth. read more

Don't know how I haven't already written a review for Hell's Kitchen. This is my go to place when I'm in Wilmington. They have fun drink specials, the staff is awesome, and the food is tasty. Excellent fish tacos! Tacos are $1 on tuesday, except fish tacos which are $2. Hubbs got tacos and the few bites of his fish tacos I had tasted fresh, and had some incredible flavor combinations reminiscent of a tropical vacation. . I tried my stand by fave here, sweet potato fries with bleu cheese dressing and a side salad. Excellent bleu cheese dressing. So glad our friends invited us here tonight! We all left the table very happy! The restaurant is comfortable, with the feel of a well-loved local watering hole. We were the first table for our waitress. It was her first day. You can tell they took time training her because she was wonderful and very very attentive. Definitely will be back here, getting fish tacos all for myself. read more

We visited Hell's Kitchen while in Wilmington for the night. We liked the atmosphere and that there was live music playing. We had an issue with the bass thumping from the club that is apparently right under Hell's Kitchen. The bass shook the entire restaurant and was very distracting. While I enjoyed eating at Hell's Kitchen, I won't return on a night where the club is open downstairs. It was pretty obnoxious to have my entire body shaking from something in another location... it was like a musical earthquake. read more
