This is one of the few places that do a la carte. I found the prices to be a bit expensive for what you get. 3 of us shared a sushi and sashimi party tray. It came to around $30 a person, and was quoted on the menu to be for about 3-4 people. I would say it's barely enough for 3 very small people, let alone 4. It did not come with miso soup or salad. The quality of the sushi was nothing to be amazed about. Although it was probably a bit better than AYCE, I think for the prices, I'd expect better quality sushi. If I had to, I'd choose AYCE sushi over this in Ottawa. Also, in terms of authenticity, I think this place is Chinese owned. It is a small establishment, so if you want to be sure you get a table, I'd recommend reservations. There is street parking available on Somerset. I likely won't be back, and will definitely try my hardest to persuade my friends to go elsewhere if they want to come back.

Every course was beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. You can really tell how much care goes into every bite. The service made the experience even more memorable. We chose the second level Omakase experience, which gives you five courses. Totally worth it. My husband and I just talked about going back to try all the different levels of it because that was some of the best sushi and sashimi I have ever had. Down to the miso soup, everything was amazing. Brian was so warm, welcoming, and attentive all evening. He worked alongside another wonderful server whose beautiful name I unfortunately can't remember, but together they created such a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The cocktails were also outstanding. Joel, the bartender, made what may have been the best cocktail I've had in a while: the AO Martini. I lost count of how many I ordered ! My husband loved his tequila cocktail as well, which I believe was called the Smashsuika. To top it all off, Chef John and his team surprised us with a complimentary bottle of sake to celebrate my husband's birthday month. Tuna tartare "pizza" made on a thick fried rice crust/patty was unusual yet yummy. An eggplant appetizer was truly decadent. Loved the maple syrup egg sashimi. A shiitake roll was sweet and almost dessert like. Mango icecream and green tea creme brulee had extremely clean and vibrant flavors. All that magic reasonably priced and prepared and presented with love and care by a wonderful chef and staff. Highly recommend!

My only gripe with the platters is the price that I've noticed has been steadily increasing, but it's filled us well enough to not complain too much. I appreciated the friendly service and their commitment to social distancing guidelines. Dining in was also a nice extra touch, as we got to bathe in the chic decor. Perhaps if I come here another time, I'll give a go at the special rolls that this restaurant serves here.
