Hello Sushi has been in this location for years and years. So when you are looking up a specific food review, please note when it was written. The location is set back from Redlands Blvd and not readily visible. We were there mid-week and seated at 4:45 pm - being among a few customers the service was attentive and our order came out quickly. As you can tell from my interior pics the atmosphere is inviting. There are plenty of TVs and the menu offers plenty of beverage choices. We started with a small cup of Miso soup. For $2, it was appropriately sized. The flavor was as expected. We ordered the Three Amigo Tempura Roll and the Fire Cracker Roll. Overall, it seemed to us that their flavorings tended to be sweeter (not necessarily sweet) than other restaurants' sushi. Both of our Rolls had Spicy Tuna, but it wasn't as spicy as other restaurants'. Not saying this is good or bad, but an observation. The shock n' awe moment was the delivery of the Three Amigo Tempura Roll, see my pic. You're looking at a mountain of tempura onion rings covering a California Roll with Spicy Tuna. The foundation of the California Roll was fairly basic, filling and somewhat mild flavoring. The Spicy Tune was plentiful and had a bit of heat and kick. The sauces added some creaminess and another heat component. I liked the Tempura Onions as a great crunchy compliment to the soft textures of the roll and ground tuna. The slices of the roll varied. Some bites were quite large and almost unmanageable (particularly in public). The Fire Cracker Roll was basically the same roll as in the Three Amigo. The sauces really helped with the flavoring. The scallop was a really nice touch of rich flavor. read more

My last review of this place was disappointing since I reiterate this *was* my favorite sushi place... My wife decided to give it another shot and placed an online order in advanced and the order confirmed that it would be ready by 2:30. As I write this the time is now 3:05pm and we're *still* waiting for them to complete the order. BEWARE. We ordered online through THEIR website, showed up 20 minutes later, and the girl says that they never "accepted" the order. Well, when we placed the order, it charged my card and sent us a confirmation code, so I guess I'm not aware of any additional approval that was needed. Stupid. After waiting an additional 30 minutes, we thought we received our order. When we got home, we realized an entire roll was missing. After calling the restaurant and speaking to multiple people who at one point told us "you need to come back after we're closed to speak to the owner". Yeah, that's totally how I want to spend New Years. The last guy we talked to before hanging up said "if you want to talk to the owner and get a refund, you'll need to bring back all your food." This place was amazing with the old owners years ago, now it's a joke. Will not be returning (was a NYE tradition) and will be filing a claim. Worst place for sushi in Redlands. The quality of food and service was disappointing. Our server Jasmine did her best, it was the staff be hind her that was horrible. The cooks do not know what they are doing. Couldn't even guide her with correct information about our food that was served to us. I will never eat at this location again. I want to make clear that our server Jasmine was not at fault. Whoever trained her did a poor job, shame on the staff at hello sushi. I tried to let her know but I can see she was nervous and did not want to communicate. I paid the bill and left. Wait staff was very helpful. We arrived at 6:00 and ordered 6:30 and did not receive our full order until after 8:30. The bento box sat in the back waiting for the sashimi until we asked for it to come out separately. The chicken was cold. After asking 3 different servers (over more than an hour) the sashimi still had not come out. The manager refused to speak with us. I have to stress that the wait staff did their best with poor assistance from the kitchen, sushi chiefs, and most of all the manager. I ordered food tonight through Ubereats. My order was missing 2 rolls. I called the store and the woman on the phone said they did indeed forget to give me my rolls. I asked her if she could please notify ubereats of THEIR mistake and have a driver get it. She told me that she wouldn't do that and I would have to come get it myself if I wanted them. I asked her if I could just get a refund. She was very rude and flatly told me no, that that's between me and ubereats. Basically not her problem. She was unapologetic about screwing up the order and just didn't care to resolve things. On top of that, the rolls we did get were not rolled well and were falling apart. Got AYCE for $38.05 on a Friday night. Service is quick and the servers all seemed nice. The sushi (2 piece) is very good! My favorite was the Cajun seared salmon and albacore. The Handroll was small but since it was part of the AYCE menu I didn't mind, probably wouldn't order it on its own. I tried half of the sushi and everything was fresh and yummy. They have A LOT of options for sushi. The only thing I didn't like was you only get two rounds. So the second round was tricky I didn't want to not order enough nor order too much. I was concerned because the yelp review was a lowly 3.4- I am beyond happy I gave this place a shot. I cannot express how delicious the Ocean Blue Roll is! The Spider roll with deep fried soft shell crab is classic. The Volcano Roll is smothered in scallops and mushroom-- never heard of this but my my my it's fabulous. Baked mussels is a classic as well for a starter and baked perfectly. Drives me nuts when I go somewhere and they bake them too long. Not here! Perfection! Cajun Philly is another unique combo that sounds strange but is taste-buds mind blowing. My husband loves salmon! The salmon, Philly meat and cream cheese with cajun spice is simply scrumptious. I definitely will be back. They also have an all you can eat menu but you don't get the specialty items. Secondly, our server was a sweetheart. They grill you before you even order about their all you can eat policy and if anyone in your party does not want the all you can eat they have to be separated from your party and sit at another table. As we checked out the waitress arrived at our table with a portable card reader. My husband paid our bill and removed the card. Our waitress told us that he removed the card too soon and to enter it again (we did not receive a receipt). We paid the bill, tipped $5 (the service was not good) & left. My debit card was charged $81.10 and $87.52. I called Hello Sushi 6 different times. Every time asking for a manger or the owner. Never being able to speak to either. On my final phone call they told me that they can only find one transaction In their system. I offered to drive one hour to their restaurant and show them my bank statement or send a copy via email. Taylor, the employee I spoke to was on the phone with me. The owner standing next to her refused to speak to me. (Taylor would tell the owner what I was saying & would relay what he said to me) She told me the only thing that I can do is dispute it with the bank. And they will not give me a refund even if I come in with my bank statement and prove to them I was charged twice. I asked when the owner would be in to prove the charges. Taylor would not give me a time the owner would be in. Even if I dispute it with the bank Hello Sushi will still profit both charges. We ordered a rainbow roll, baked scallop roll, mix tempura with all veggies to be zucchini and edamame with salt. I requested a Coke. First the edamame were so soft the beans were mushy, our mixed tempura came with all zucchini and when we reminded staff it was mixed we received 1 shrimp. The rainbow had a good taste but the tuna on top was a light pink and kind of mushy. Finally, our baked scallop roll came and I almost gagged. Today it was as busy as I've seen in years. it's their 10th Anniversary and they cut the AYCE price by $4.00. But be ready to get hit with a $1.00 charge per every piece you don't eat. we were charged a "chef's special" for $6.00 and when I asked what it was for I was told for the leftovers we didn't eat. we only ordered one round of food and they brought us a roll we didn't order. The waitress apologized and took the check back to fix. When she returned she added another dollar to the bill! So when I asked to speak to the manager she said they don't have one and the owner doesn't like to speak to customers when or if he is there. Thats a new one???? So she screwed herself out of a 20% tip to charge $7.00 on a $100+ bill. stupid meets stupid I guess. I will take my business elsewhere where it is appreciated and ownership wants to satisfy guests. Horrible! We've been coming here for years. Less and less as time passed cause every time has been bad. We always kept trying to give them a chance or thinking that it was just a bad day but today made it official. There was sooo much wrong at dinner today but the one that did it was our tempura rolls. They forgot about 2 of our tempura rolls. We had to wait over 30 mins for those after finishing our other 4 rolls. The weird thing was that they were cold and soggy...instead of warm and crunchy. So disgusting. I couldn't eat them. Felt horrible giving them my hard earned money. We only decided to come here because Sushi Train is officially closed down and Meiga was packed. Since 2016 when I moved to the Inland Empire, I've been looking for a go-to sushi place with disappointing results... until yesterday. For the first time, I tried Hello Sushi in Redlands, and I was delightfully surprise with the results of my delivered order. Because of poor dentition, I had asked for my vegetable tempura to be cooked well-done (which is hard because of the diversity of ingredients in vegetable tempura which usually results in undercooked vegetables no matter what) and for the first time since I lost my teeth did I get completely edible veggies!!! The dipping sauce also was a close second best I've ever had, and I've ordered a LOT of vegetable tempura in my life so that says something. I also made a special request for the addition of onion straws and no cucumber on my Las Vegas roll, and they did it for a minimal additional cost without question. For me, this is rare for a delivery order. So thank you all at Hello Sushi!! You are now my go-to for sushi! read more

We usually have our go to sushi spots near home but we were out running errands and decided to stop in for sushi. The waitresses were super nice and attentive, the only reason I gave 2 stars. The sushi itself was left to be desired. The rolls were saturated in eel sauce and lo and behold I found a hair in my scallop sushi. I've been here off and on for almost 10 years and it's one of my favorite AYCE spots. But last Sunday I went in with my 5 year old daughter (it was my 1st time taking her). I got her a combo plate and I ordered AYCE. We waited for our food and her plate came out, but nothing came out from my order. I didn't think much of it until a few more people started to show up and were getting their food before I got my first round. I waved our server over and she asked if we needed anything. I said, "yes, my first round. My daughter is almost done with her plate." The server apologized and came back and said they're starting your order now. It had been about at least 30 minutes by this time since I placed my initial order and noticed people around us were getting their food a 2nd time. I asked them to go ahead and cancel my AYCE because my daughter ate and that was fine. My biggest issue was my daughter asking me why I didn't eat and are you still hungry? It was an unpleasant first experience for her there and that's what upsets me. I will admit she liked her food. I've never had such a poor experience, but both servers walked past us numerous times without noticing I didn't have my food. And there were maybe 3/4 tables being occupied. I could have flagged them down sooner, but I was trying to be patient. Only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because my daughter enjoyed her food and the server did give her a complimentary macaroon for the inconvenience. read more

Wow as in wow that wasn't good. Let's start with the smell that hit me walking through the door. Like a bad air freshener trying to cover up a sewer smell. Moving on to the water (yes the water), it tastes like they've got a plumbing problem and need new pipes. And we're not at the food yet. The ginger taste and smell like a men's urinal cake. If you don't know what that is look it up. Ok finally the food and service. It must've been training day for the new girl. Why and sweet but super forgetful. It was something I could look past. Finally arriving with the food I was worried immediately when the nigiri was like warm. Hopefully I don't get sick tonight. I asked for sriracha and out came some type of imitation sriracha. I took one bite and it was terrible. The rest of the meal was ordinary cheap ingredients that didn't taste good. The only thing edible that I halfway enjoyed was the golden tiger roll. But the green mussels, house roll, spider roll and the salmon skin roll (yuck) were all enough to make this place a one and done. I guess they survive on naive people and college student who don't know any better and hardly venture out. I was disappointed spending $40 on a subpar lunch. They need to step it up and freshen up. Use better ingredients, fix your plumbing and get authentic sriracha and you'll be heading on the right track. read more

Came here with hubby on 10/3 to celebrate our 12year anniversary. We have been coming here for a few years. This is our fave sushi spot...we only go to AYCE spots. Lately they have been using a lot more crab in the rolls...I try to stay away from any rolls that have crab in them, but hubby's faves happen to have crab. My fave is the Aloha I add lemon slices to it. He likes the I shrimp loveand the Jessica ...and we both live the mussels for sure! Update. 3/16/20 Came here ...family of five. 4 on AYCE menu...we had edamame, miso, shashimi salad, chicken teriyaki, gyozas, baked mussels , 3 shrimp lover rolls, 2 tiger rolls, 1 heart attack, 4 aloha rolls and added lemon slices to it, 1 baked salmon, 1 Jessica roll, 1 baked volcano...everything was delish!
