Great service as it wasn't busy. Nice place to enjoy your meal. I'm sure it gets loud when it's busy. I got the bento box with 2 items - mixed tempura and sashimi. My box had a lot of salad and not enough dressing. I like the texture of the tempura. It was light and crunchy, but I was disappointed that it was 3 pieces of potatoes and 2 shrimp. There was no variety of vegetable. And 5 pieces? U came for dinner and was expecting more than 5 pieces. I enjoyed the sashimi. Usually I don't like tuna because it tastes frozen and fishy. This tuna I liked. It didn't have a fishy taste to it. And can't go wrong with salmon!

I do think they are quite pricey as I often like to try a couple rolls and the price for two was close to $30 for me, BUT it was so good! I tried the Midori Nori which was good, but the star of the show was the Ninja Turtles! That one was amazing. Next time I'm for sure getting that roll. I lovvveee tempura rolls and this one did not disappoint. I especially like that it was a variety of different tempura vegetables and not just one (usually sweet potato is the only one I see for tempura veggie rolls). They are big and filling too. The others with me only got one roll and I understand paying $15ish for just one roll because with that and an appetizer or dessert you should be decently full. I like that I left there full, but not heavy full like I often do from other food. I also appreciate that you get complimentary edamame, but they had other types of edamame that sounded so good. I honestly would have gotten one if they didn't already give us edamame. Regardless, I think I'll still order one next time as I don't care much for regular salted edamame. Excited to eat here again in the future!

Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots! Service is always great and the rolls are always fresh and so filling. They aren't stingy at all, the rolls are always big and full of flavor!

Great little sushi house with a cool vibe. SERVICE: Everyone was super friendly and we were seated pretty quickly. Server was attentive and helpful. FOOD: Super Yummy!! We tried a few things and everything tasted fresh. I especially like the TNT tacos as they were Keto friendly ;) But all the sushi was super delicious! If you have not tried them, go give them a try today...

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. The locals all know this spot. A local gem. They do a lot of business with a high turnover so the fish is always fresh. The service is always fast and efficient. Complementary edamame comes out when you arrive. The portions are generous and they offer and all you can eat menu. Beer comes out cold with cold glasses. I would say you get seated and orders come out quick, but the wait staff doesn't circle back around to clear plates too often. I love this place and will definitely be going back. I might change the music to a more relaxing vibe and make the addition of guest wifi due to the fact that the whole shopping center has cell-service blockers.

Niko Niko is one of the better sushi / Japanese restaurants in the Redlands area. I have been eating here for years. Today I ordered a two item bento box ($18) and an iced tea. (See my pictures.) I received complimentary edamame while I was waiting for my order. Parking can be a hassle, especially during holidays and the dinner hour. So can waiting, unless you are one of the patrons who get lucky and get to sit on the bench just inside the door. But the food is worth the wait. It's a smaller restaurant too, seating fewer than 100 customers at a time.

My dad and I came here for the first time today after our 10k race. Let me first say, the place is very clean, a wonderful atmosphere all around. One of the chefs there was incredibly kind, laughed with us, made jokes, and even gave us a couple fun things to try! The service staff was on top of everything and also very kind as well. The sushi! Wow!!! It was perfect! Everything was incredibly fresh and so flavorful. I gave this place 5 stars because nothing was bad!

Hadnt been here in a while and I am kicking myself about it. Amazing staff, food, wait time and quality service! Love this spot.

188/2024 Always ordered here to go.. I had a chance to dine in this time. Friendly staff and prompt service! Their soft shell crabs are so delicious. They are my all time fav and can chomp several of these for sure! Very serene atmosphere but can be sooo busy during weekends or weekday's dinner time! Sushi rolls always made fresh by Itamae (sushi chef).

Seared tuna, edamame and Oh Wow (very good). Jefferson roll came later- a little bland, but overall a great sushi place!

The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was decent for a "strip mall". The food was of very good quality.

Good portion of fish in the roll but was spoiled by the short grain rice, which was not properly prepared which was dry and not glutinous.

I sensed something exciting was going to happen -- but relying entirely on word of mouth. Flash-forward to early 2026, where readers of the local weekly paper named this the Best Sushi of Redlands. I was so excited, and as my visit last week demonstrates -- things have only improved. KYO SUSHI was packed at 5PM on a Tuesday. Not only slammed, but standing room only. I don't know what happened but I'm so happy for them. Two subtle changes have happened and I'm all for them. A LOCAL NEWS channel sharing dreadful stories on the TV has been swapped for hi-def reels of lovely Asian spots, making our escape from the crazy world we live in complete. As an extra touch, we are now treated to soothing jazz, which helps in a room with so many happy customers. A special shout out to Sia, who greets regulars like family and will help you get exactly what you need. Hi to Wendy and the new young lady, all keeping a close eye on customer happiness. I believe KYO is on the brink of having outgrown this location, but a lease is likely keeping them there for a while. It's a shame they can't move next door into the old Von's location -- lol -- because what a place that would be. Enough room in their to farm the fish. Pro Tip -- try the Megan Fox roll!

Kyo Sushi was okay. I may have gone in with higher expectations because of the 4.7 rating on Yelp,…read morebut overall it felt a little overhyped. The roll presentation was very good, and visually the food looked great. The plates came out clean, colorful, and nicely arranged. Flavor-wise though, the rolls were fairly bland. The house mayo tasted like regular mayo, which isn't necessarily bad, but I guess I was expecting something with a little more going on, maybe closer to a spicy mayo or some kind of signature sauce. We also ordered a Philly roll, but were brought the Philly "Pro" instead. The Pro is deep fried, which I wasn't expecting, and I took a bite without realizing how hot it was and almost burned my mouth. I did mention that "Philly roll" and "Philly Pro" are close enough in name that I could see wrong orders happening pretty easily. Service was direct and decent. Nothing bad, just more to-the-point than warm or memorable. I'd probably give this place another shot, because it seemed like we may have gotten caught in a rush all at once. Not terrible by any means, and the presentation was definitely a strong point, but it wasn't quite the standout experience I was expecting.

First thing I noticed were 2 Japanese ladies eating inside. Good sign! Was clean, plenty of seating, liked the solid granite tables. The "new" owner is this young guy who bought the place 3 years ago when the previous owner retired. He was working hard as the only waiter and 2 chefs in the back and bar. For lunch, i had the 12-pc sashimi (all fish) for $20...did I say 11 pieces?!? Man it was totemo Oishikatta!!! Probably some of the best sashimi I've had outside of Tokyo. Even my Japanese Nihonjin partner agreed it was very good (and she's a picky Japanese eater!). I liked that it was all fish cuts so I didn't have to sub or ask for sub for seafood I don't eat (bottom-dwellers, scavenger seafood). Shihoko-san had the salmon bento box and it was also very tasty. Of course we had to have the edamame appetizer. Overall excellent and we plan to be back! Glad it's nice and local here in Redlands.

The fish tasted fresh, portions were good, and everything came out pretty quick even though they were busy. The sear was perfect, and the green onion topping and sauce, along with the small slice portions made this easy and fun to eat. Definitely try this in your first round! 5/5 - Shooting Star (front) - Very savory and delicious! If you like the cajun flavor with the spicy aioli sauce, this won't disappoint. The crunch from the tempura shrimp with the texture profile of the crab and rice makes this a very satisfying roll! 5/5 - Carpaccio - This was actually one of the best carpaccio dishes I had gotten, and I think it is due to the seasoning. You only get one order per person which is typical of other AYCE sushi places, but definitely something to savor! 5/5 - Bluefin Tuna - This is limited to one order per customer, but it was the first time I had eaten a bluefin tuna at an AYCE restaurant that tasted like bluefin tuna from Japan. This is more toro than chutoro/otoro, however it did have that distinct bluefin tuna taste. Impressed! 4/5 - Dynamite - Interesting baked roll dish. Served under a small flame that dies out, it was a very savory, easy-to-eat dish with chopsticks. However, it felt a bit overcooked by the end of the flame, which understandably can be hit-or-miss. Definitely try it out, as this kind of dish is typically rare in AYCE restaurants. 5/5 - Del Rosa and East Highland - These are both the same No Rice Roll just with different wraps. The fish serving was generous and we were impressed! The sauce complemented both perfectly. 4/5 - X-Girlfriend and X-Boyfriend - Pretty much the same No Rice Roll but with different fish. Kind of tastes the same from the other No Rice Rolls so I would just get one order to try it out. 3/5 - O.M.G., Pizza, and SBD Hill - About the same flavor profile with the creamy sauce with the seafood that is placed on top of California rolls. You can probably do with just one of these rolls whichever appeals to you. Of course, it is not exactly the same, but we didn't really care to figure out which was which as we were eating it. 2/5 - Flying Dragon - Was not particularly impressed with this dish. There was a lot of rice served for a thin slice of eel and white fish. The sliced onion was OK, and it did not seem to complement the dish significantly. It seemed more like a separate item placed on top of the roll. 3/5 - Cajun Tuna Nigiri - Decent tuna nigiri. I thought the slices were very thin, so the sear actually went through the whole fish rather than just at the surface which would have made a two-texture profile bite. However, it just seemed dry due to the seared thin slice. 3/5 - Cajun Salmon Nigiri - Same issue with the cajun tuna nigiri. It was seasoned well with the cajun, but the thin slice of the salmon made the sear more of a "cook" rather than a seared surface. 4/5 - Regular Salmon Nigiri - Typical salmon nigiri flavor with regular portion of rice. I think it is beaten out my other AYCE sushi restaurants that are generous with their fish portion and provide minimal rice. 1/5 - Shrimp Boat - This dish was very disappointing. While it is advertised as shrimp with crab meat, our whole group found that it was an overwhelming amount of crab meat and could barely pick out the shrimp. Difficult to finish especially in the 2nd half of our meal. Granted due to being a tempura roll, it was served later. 1/5 - Lobster Ball - This dish was also disappointing. While it is advertised as lobster with crab meat, we barely found a difference between this and the shrimp boat aside from shape. Even with the pictures, the size was larger than we expected. Difficult to finish especially in the 2nd half of our meal. Granted due to being a tempura roll, it was served later. 3/5 - Calamari - Huge portions but could have been salted more. Good crunch but I would hesitate on finishing this portion because you might get full! 3/5 - Shrimp Tempura - We ordered 4 orders of this and only received one order (2 pieces). Decent fry and could also be salted a bit more.
