These guys have cracked on with a great alternative to the usual easy quick lunches available and kept it healthy and interesting. I dropped in on the very first day, so unsurprisingly it was busy. but even on the first day the awesome crew at Poké me knocked out the line in 20 minutes. my friends just visited today and said even after three business days only they got through much quicker. The lineup gave me time to consider what I was gonna buy. I've seen fancy Insta pics of amazing tuna so I honed in on the tuna. I think if they'd run out of tuna i' d have had a heart attack. but alas, they had the tuna. you get options of base: green tea soba noodles, pink rice or greens. I got greens. then you get the choice of some uber pimp salad choices like kimchi, julienne beetroot, cucumber, smashed avo, edamame beans, and plenty more. then when you get your choice of tuna, salmon, chicken or tofu you get to choose a sauce and sprinkles of spice. All worth it and all totally filling :-) they don't do cash so bring your card. drink choices are epic - I personally can't go past the UTonic. You want....UTonic. so tasty. Get in and grab a feed. I don't think you'll regret it!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, for shame! Act like you know and then read this to get up to speed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bánh_mì In short, it's a Vietnamese sandwich that is all kinds of addictive and delicious - not to mention also pretty healthy. I've been getting my banh mi fix from Zen House, the Central Markets, Hanson Road or Southern Cross food arcade, so I was stoked to hear there would be somewhere a little more local to get my hands on the goods. The verdict? It was good: fresh and tasty with just the right amount of chili. Yet, I won't be going back to Saba for my banh mi fix anytime soon, and here's why: at $7.50 for a combination roll, I paid almost double what I pay elsewhere for the same quality of product. A bottle of sparkling water also set me back $3.80. Service was also disappointing. Despite being the only customer in the café, the rolls took a really long time to arrive. When I went to pay on EFTPOS, the staff member told me he didn't know how to operate the machine, so I needed to wait another 10 minutes for another staff member to return. I wouldn't normally be so pedantic but I was in a bit of rush that day so was really aware of how long it was taking. Hopefully this was a just a first week road bump and will improve as they go along. While I have only tried the banh mi so far, the rest of the menu is a haphazard combination of Asian and café food, with a sandwich bar, coffee machine, cakes, curries and roasts on offer as well as Vietnamese dishes. Personally I think the all-things-to-all-people approach is generally not as successful as doing one thing really well. The location in a plaza at 47 The Parade is a little hidden, you probably wouldn't find the place unless you knew to go there. The plaza itself is very pleasant though, green and airy with lots of seating.

This restaurant is one to bookmark and is really worth going out of your way to check out. Especially to try Japanese Modern takes on breakfast all day. And then there is the Ramen menu..... wow! I can not wait to return to get my hands on a bowl. They have a menu that is pretty much build your own Ramen. After being handed the menu for breakfast, I had a real hard time trying to choose between the Matcha Pancakes and The Classic (with salmon). Although I adore pancakes, I had to go with something a little more traditional for my first time. Classic it was! This dish features Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Aji-Tama (Salted Soft Boiled Egg), sweet potato salad, with Yuzu Vinaigrette Pickled Veg, rice & miso. The dish itself looked really pretty, just check out the photos. Presentation is well thought out and planned. The salmon was cooked through with a salty and sweet sauce. It tasted similar to teriyaki sauce. The sweet potato salad was mixed in with other vegetables and a kewpie mayo style sauce. Worked so well with the salmon and rice. I really loved the egg as well, it was slightly salty and really gives depth to the dish. Wash this all down with miso & tofu and you have a really perfect breakfast. I was so impressed, I am really looking for any excuse to return. Keep on the look out for my updated review when I get my hands on some Ramen! OH YES!

The lovely Jun allowed us to utilise the entire space for our photography purpose. The warm and cosy contemporary interior provided a lovely backdrop for our morning lesson. Once coffee orders was placed and received, we got down to selecting our breakfast. I opted for the classic which had grilled salmon, served with sweet potato salad, miso and rice. Other dishes ordered include the tradition breakfast, salmon bagel and ramen pizza. My breakast was delicious! Nothing to fault here. I believe everyone else enjoyed theirs too from the positive feedback making its rounds. They have ramen noodles from 10am, which wasn't yet available to us being early birds. It just means I will have to come back! I highly recommend this place because you can see the quality and love put in to this place where the food including the sweets made in-house is equally tasty. The owners are clearly dog-lovers hence the name. A small picture frame can be seen of their black pooch on top of the sweets cabinet. This place is not very big, so come early, as it can fill up quickly.
