Upon entering here I felt like I was in Japan. I had never been here before, yet somehow I was immediately noticed and warmly welcome by the waitresses in a split second. The wooden tan chairs, the Japanese theme decor and books, an easy-to-select-from menu...
And as soon as they laid down my teriyaki chicken dish with rice on my table, it was the largest serve ever and I knew instantly this was gonna be great tasting. I was surrounded by pretty Japanese waitresses. I overhead then all speak super fluent Japanese to each other! Yea! I feel like I'm in Japan! Yes - I could see them chefs in the back cooking my order of food and soon one of them walked out to lay on my table.
However while Katsumoto was priced around $19, it was worth it because they got rid of my hunger, and I found that Katsumoto was so much better than the rest of the Japanese restaurants in Adelaide.
No doubt the food was fresh, delicious, and prepared meticulously. It was so well presented in the end. And for an Asian restaurant lover like myself, this was an instant 5-stars! The menu was definitely simple to choose from - think 10 of the most popular Japanese dishes, sushi, and a wide range of drinks to choose from, including drinks from Japan (I remember my sweet strawberry drink was called 'RAMUNE ICHIGO' or something like that - just ask them for a sweet drink from Japan and they'll know what you're talking about). It was one-of-a-kind because you had to smack it down with your strong hand to open the drink. No complaints whatsoever here, the most delicious Japanese dish I've ever tasted, and I'm not joking.
I felt something with this restaurant, because for under $20, I seriously felt like marrying someone here! If I came home to this cooking every night after work, I'd be in "Nihongo" heaven.
Granted, this restaurant is hidden in one of the more pricey Arcades of Rundle Mall, Adelaide. Er...Katsumoto...you're the BEST Japanese restaurant I've ever tasted in Adelaide! I've got Drake's song in my head now, "You're the best I've ever had....best I've ever haaddd...." Hands down! Don't believe me? Sounds like a really big and bold statement, hey? But seriously, have a try of lunch here yourself. I'm not lying. You'll thank me after. read more
