Mediocre food at best and service lacked. Went here for lunch on a Monday with a group of 3, only 4 tables occupied so not crowded at all. 2 of us ordered lazy schnitzel and the other a Cesar wrap. Lazy schnitzel plates came out very reasonably timed and hot foods were hot but the wrap didn't arrive for another 10 minutes at least. Schnitzel was ok, sauce was meh. Salad actually had the most flavor of the plate. Edible but I won't be revisiting. read more

I've seen a couple of these places around Adelaide, and fortunately one does happen to be next to the cinema up in Elizabeth, so when I decided to go to that particular cinema to see a movie, I thought that it would be a great opportunity to check this place out as well. I have to say that the schnitzels are pretty big. In fact the servings are pretty big all around. In fact, my order came out with two schnitzels, which I have to say was pretty impressive. Actually, it is more than that because this place turned out to be pretty good. Mind you, it is pricey, but that is probably because the servings are quite large as well. Fortunately they to have doggie bags so that you can take your uneaten portions home, which I do quite appreciate. read more

I love it when new restaurants open in Elizabeth, as Elizabeth isn't exactly a dining district - so yay! A new option! The food is great, the tables are crowded together making it hard to navigate without knocking into other tables, but the it's busy and full of life so cudo's to them. Being so new the staff are still working things out (difficulties using the Eftpos facilities - they weren't sure how they worked, problems locating ordered items on their computer and even locating drink flavourings) - but we'll give them time on this one. The staff weren't unfriendly, but they were definitely more fixated on concentrating on what gang were doing and how to do it over providing customer service. The food however was really full of flavour and thoroughly enjoyable. I had the beef Schnit with the Kilpatrick sauce. (Yummo) while my husband had the 12inch Hotdog, the only complaint here is that the Hotdog itself is not actually 12inch's, it's a Kransky cut down the middle and half at each end of a long roll, which is more than enough to fill you - but not a 12 inch dog. Again the flavours were really good (even if the roll was slightly burnt). We shared the dip Schnit (we ordered way too much food) but we got a good sample of what they had to offer and the fact is it was really good!!! The dipping sauces were all creamy so a non creamy option wouldn't go astray but the important factor is it tastes really good and the serving sizes are generous. Great food great service. First visit here. We booked online for 645pm on a sat night. The restaurant called to tell us that they were full at that time. They should suggested 8pm. Glad we did. It was still busy at 8pm but the service was still quick. Only complaint is that we needed to ask for more cutlery. You won't leave hungry. Prices are reasonable and with the entertainment book you get a bonus 25% off your bill. read more

When the Schnithouse opened on Rundle Street, I was excited by the concept of a schnitzel house where you are only pained by the choices on offer. As a fan of this humble dish, I relished on the crazy variations this place would come up with. Unfortunately, my experience was not the best. Food was expensive and extremely salty. So, I have not ventured back till now. Perhaps the Elizabeth store might be different? We both had the lazy schnit. I chose the deep sea with trio of mushroom sauce, while my sister had the chicken with peppercorn sauce. They might seat you when you come in, but ordering food and drinks is at the counter and bar. While we waited for our meals, we took the opportunity to admire the fitout. It was cosy with lots of warm tones. The lighting created a nice ambiance for families. The place was massive with an upstairs seating area as well. Our food arrived within 15 minutes. That is very timely. Big tick for promptness. My barramundi schnitzel was well cooked, sauce was nice, could do with more mushroom and less cream. Chips was yummy, but over salted. Tried my sister's chicken schnitzel and thought it was good. Her peppercorn sauce was a little weak in flavour and a tad runny. It was nice, but not spectacular. There is room for improvement, but glad the whole dish wasn't salty. Nothing worse than skulling water all night just to make it through your meal. Pricepoint, a tad on the dear side, but at least you are getting a decent feed and the ingredients is of a better quality than your average pub schnitzel. Staff are very friendly here, so for that alone, I would return. read more

The Schnithouse is a place off excess. You dont come here for a light snack, although they do offer light meals, you'd really be wasting your time. Light meals can be found anywhere in the Elizabeth center. Here they have come up with the, possibly unique idea, of serving a meal, on top of another meal. I had the bangers and mash, which in its self is pretty standard pub fare, and the quality of the mash and pork sausages found here at the Schnithouse suggested they knew what they were doing when adding this very British item to the menu. Unlike a pub however, the meal was served on a chicken schnitzel. This is where the schnithouse departs from the common crowd. If you are fussy like I can be at times (or if you are like Pete from The Show, who doesn't like his food touching) you might want to ask for the schnitty to be 'on the side' so as to preserve the golden crumbed coating from the dense rich gravy that covers the bangers and mash. Something I'll remember for next time. The next time however, I'll also remember not to have eaten breakfast.....or lunch The Schnithouse, for when one meal on your plate simply isn't enough. read more

Absolutely hated my trip here. We came with my grandparents who had come from England and booked a table for 14 3 weeks in advance. When we arrived we were pointed upstairs with no other direction and found our table (which was short 2 seats) We added seats onto the table so everyone was cramped and it was SO loud i could barely talk to hubby let alone the grandparents I was supposed to be catching up with. Ordering food was a task being vegetarian. There was a veggie burger for me and a veggie schnitzel option but no vegetarian kids meal option. I saw there was a mini chicken schnitzel on the kids menu, and i also saw a mini vegetarian schnitzel on a platter so I asked if they could swap the chicken for veggie only to be told roughly "there is no option on a kids meal". I asked what she could have and they suggested the ham and cheese pizza with no ham. Great. Ordered that and it came out a good 20 minutes before the rest of the food. By the time our food came Boo was tired and full and ready to leave. My vegetarian burger was cold in the middle and ridiculously salty but at least it was edible. The chips that came with it were inedible - 4 of us left our chips because they were so salty. What a waste of money. I truly feel so bad for the waitresses here having to go up and down the long steps holding meals and taking orders. They need a dumb waiter because I am sure they arent paid enough for the trips up and down and up and down. Not to mention the issue when you meet a waitress holding 100 dishes halfway down the stairs you can't get out of the way enough. Not impressed. I will try again one day on a less busy day when maybe I will be able to hear myself and ask management if they can put the veggie schnitzel on the kids meal. read more

Sen-bloody-sational. I'm a big eater and it even got me worrying towards the end. The food was awesome. The beef schnitzel was a bit tough in a few places, but that is why we have teeth and that's what we chew with. The flavour and presentation was above what I expected, ever. Been twice with relatives. Both times I had the bourban cowboy chicken schnit. One of my favourite meals to eat and huge fan of the waffle fries. It can be pretty loud on a busy night and service can be a bit of a hit or miss but highly recommend this joint. I understand that they are a new restaurant, but the service and atmosphere was less than average. There were far too many tables, so much so that we had to pass plates down to people as the servers could not get between the tables. It was extremely difficult if one needed to get up to go somewhere. I had a blue-rare 400g steak with pepper sauce. The sauce had no flavour whatsoever, tasted like home brand gravy mix with no herbs, salt or even pepper. The steak was rare, but completely dry, as if it was an old steak. The number of chips that was served with it was abysmal. The salad was the typical half lettuce with a couple pieces of tomato, cucumber and some onion. We requested help from the staff regarding the highchair and had to ask 3 different people over about half an hour before we were told they had no highchairs with straps, which I feel is quite unsafe. read more

Rude staff. They took over 20 minutes to cook a medium rare steak which came out raw. The outside of the steak tasted burnt and it seemed like they had just cooked it for 30 seconds entirely. I requested to send the steak back to which took another 25-30 minutes to come out. By this time, I had already lost my appetite as the others I was with had already finished their meals. I requested for a refund and the staff at the counter gave me back my money in cash and chucked it at me. Never coming back here again, no care for their customers and was never apologetic about their so-called-steak. read more
