We do like this restaurant when it first opened in the basement location. Glad it open this location with more convenient parking space and more different food options. I think this is the most authentic Taiwanese restaurant in town. I'm from Taiwan so you can count on me lol The food we ordered today are all very impressive, kinda brought me back to Taiwan. Hello Jasmine is my No.1 favorite bubble tea shop in Chicago, period. All of their drinks are of great quality, and consistently so. Not overly sweet even with the 100% sugar option. I bring my friends who are new to the concept of bubble tea here to have their first taste, and in most cases they become hooked on Hello Jasmine. I've only tried their food twice, it was pretty good but IMO not as worth raving about as their drinks. One of my new favorite places in Chinatown for Taiwanese food! We ordered the Popcorn chicken, Scallion pancake with egg, Cold noodles, Taiwanese sausages and Roasted oolong tea without bubbles. The Cold noodles were delicious and it was something I was craving for a long time. You don't find a lot of places selling Taiwanese sesame noodles. Their oolong tea was probably one of the best brewed teas I've had. The Popcorn chicken was well seasoned- however I just wished it had more basil in it. We only found one and we love eating the crunchy fried basil. The Scallion pancake was good, but I was expecting it to be more crispy and savory than soft and sweet (still good though). Went here yesterday 5/7 and ordered the black sesame milk tea with boba and popcorn chicken to go. The boba was soft which was good, because some places do not boil them enough and they can be hard. I felt like my drink tasted like peanut butter for than black sesame. Still pretty good, but I was expecting a black sesame taste. I also ordered the popcorn chicken which is really good. I know you can't compare boba tea to popcorn chicken, but I would say I scarfed the chicken down before the drink. Hello Jasmine inside the Richland center is my usual go to spot. Since they opened a new location behind the red line station. After dinner with friends we headed over to this location expecting the same quality as the other location. However, as time went on our expectations were not meet. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks, the place was not packed and there were four workers at the time. The ordering system was also very confusing. When you walk in there are 3 different areas where you can order, through the grub hub kiosk, their main kiosk, or with the cashier. The menus on all 3 systems were not the same and some had more options then the others. When we went up to the cashier multiple times to ask how much longer for our drinks, we were very rudely told to just wait as they had a lot of togo orders. There was no priority for those who were already there waiting for their drinks. I got the Passion fruit lime green tea, it was way too sweet for my taste and you cannot adjust the sweetness. My drink was not mixed well and there was syrup at the bottom of the cup that was not mixed well. My friend's order did not fit the description at all. It came out slushy, where the description did not say anything about it being a slushy. When asked for a refund the cashier asked if she'd like another drink. However she did not want another drink and just wanted a refund, she just wanted a refund as we did not want to wait another 30 mins for them to make another drink. When we left one of the workers came running after us trying to push another drink on us. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, the cashiers and workers need to be better trained in quality control and customer service. In the end, I don't think I will be coming back to this location. As the workers were rude and seemed untrained. read more

If you like mediocrity this is where it starts. Service is slow. Quality of milk tea went down. I went with a group of 4 people and the server brought 3/4 people their drink but made ONE SPECIFIC person walk to the counter to pick up their drink. Not best experience. I would have given this place 5 stars but it is incredibly pricey, even by expensive boba place standards. That being said, this is also one of my favorite places to get boba in Chinatown. Situated between 2 other bubble tea establishments, Hello Jasmine holds its own with amazing drinks. The brown sugar boba is an absolute favorite of mine. It is probably the only brown sugar boba I've had that is incredibly flavorful without feeling like it's weighing you down with tons of sugar. The one minor downside of Hello Jasmine is how expensive the food is. For $8.25, I expected the popcorn chicken to be much bigger, but sadly, the bowl displayed in my pictures is what you get for the price. With that amount of money you could get a meal at some places in Chinatown! Nonetheless, this place is always packed, and I can see why. I highly recommend you come down here if you get the chance.
