She was working in the Worthington/Westerville area at the time and after a quick search on Yelp, I found this place. She called them right away, was able to see them right away, and was blown away by the experience. Flash forward to about a month ago when I ended up having to find a new dentist. My sister reminded me of Westerville Dental so I gave them a ring and had a very similar experience. I was able to get scheduled that same week and the staff was incredibly friendly. Along with my bi-annual cleaning, I opted for the Zoom whitening. I can definitely say that it was worth the money. If you need a new dentist, look no further.

I have to question things I hear them saying to one another as if you're (the patient) isn't right there in the room or if the hygienist tells me something very specific about a potential concern, the dentist doesn't speak to it unless I actually raise the question myself. From the very beginning, everything was unprofessional and disorganized. I arrived early for my appointment and still waited an entire hour in the lobby. I had already told them ahead of time that I had a referral from another dentist and that tooth #3 needed a root canal. When I finally got called back, I waited another 20 minutes. Then the dentist came in and told me they were going to do a couple fillings and a tooth extraction. That confused me because I specifically called and confirmed that I was coming in for a root canal. Then suddenly, they tell me they don't have time to do the root canal that day. Mind you, I had already been sitting there for over an hour and a half. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain my jaw was locking, I could barely swallow, and I was genuinely concerned about my health. Despite that, I agreed to move forward with the extraction and fillings just to get some relief. They numbed my mouth and were about to begin when I realized no one had gone over the cost with me. I had to stop them myself and ask. The assistant then said, "Oh you're right, we forgot," and brought me a breakdown showing I owed $500 out of pocket and that my insurance covered $0. I knew that wasn't right because I had already checked my insurance beforehand. Sure enough, they "forgot" to add my insurance and had to redo it. At that point, I lost trust and decided to only do the extraction. Here's what really shocked me: my mouth was already NUMB, and they told me to go up front to pay before they continued. I asked them, "Is it normal practice to numb a patient and then send them up front to pay?" I was honestly disgusted by how that was handled. A few days later, I was still in extreme pain after the extraction. I had a root canal scheduled for Wednesday, but by Saturday I knew I couldn't wait. I called and begged them to get me in sooner or do anything to help. They told me no because of some "policy" where insurance has to be verified weekly, and the manager who does that only comes in on Wednesdays. I called my insurance company, and they told me Comfort Dental should be able to give me a referral to an endodontist. When I called back to request a referral, they told me they don't give referrals because they do root canals there, but I insisted that they give me a referral because I couldn't wait and then the lady says well I can get a referral if I come in for another appointment which made zero sense because the dentist had literally just seen me and confirmed I needed a root canal. The information I was getting was inconsistent and honestly felt uneducated. So I drove up there in person, in pain, just to try to get help. When I got there, they told me I had to pay $30 out of pocket just to go to the back and speak to the dentist for a referral because they "couldn't verify my insurance." At that point, I was furious. I was standing there thinking, are you serious right now? Thankfully, a dental assistant came out and helped me and gave me a referral but that should NOT have been that difficult. The front desk staff were extremely unempathetic and made no effort to help resolve my situation. One of them honestly seemed like they were not fully present, and I felt completely dismissed and unsupported the entire time. If you need serious dental work, DO NOT come here. This was the most disorganized, unprofessional, and frustrating experience I've ever had in a healthcare setting. I don't know about other Comfort Dental locations, but this specific one was absolutely terrible.

I'm not rushed through the appointment, and not pressed to do procedures I can't afford. I've been coming here for several years, after my previous dentist's office said "Nobody will take that insurance!", meaning my Medicare Advantage plan. But Northside Family does, and while I have been to dentists all over the country over many years of my life, it seems to me that this is the best dental care I have experienced. The office is a downer here. They are hard to get a hold of, and I get routed to a central office where the staff have zero idea about what's going on. Then there are times that I do reach the office, but they ask if they can call me back...and they usually don't. My biggest gripe is how they don't work with my insurance very well. I'm on a DMO/HMO. You figure that since it's a dental "maintenance" type of plan, and the fact that they are one of the few offices that support this plan, they would know what is covered. But they don't. They just run whatever they consider normal treatments under their guidelines, so I'm left with covering extra fluoride treatments out of pocket. Kind of annoying, but it's also what I get for trusting that they know how stuff works (if I were more cynical, I'd say it's extra profit for them).

A few simple questions at the time of booking could have saved us both time and money. I was unaware that not all periodontists offer sedation, and this lack of communication made the experience feel misleading. To add to my disappointment, I was told--without any real concern--that I was still responsible for the estimated consultation fee, despite the fact that the office was unable to provide the necessary treatment. This entire process was a waste of time and money, and now I have start over with a different provider.

I came to her with an emergency...She discovered extensive root decay where…read morean older molar crown had popped off after the second time it was cemented (by a previous dentist.) It was a difficult case. She was surprised I had not felt more discomfort from the infection before coming in. She worked for quite a while to remove all of the decay, as it was a hot mess. She kept the area pain-free for me during the procedure. (And...bonus...I had more energy once my body was not fighting that infection.) Afterwards, she presented me with options about what I could do next. I opted for a dental implant. Her wonderful, efficient staff presented me with an accurate estimate, explaining how and why any treatment charges were slightly more than my dental coverage. (It's nice to know this information in advance.) Again, each subsequent procedure was painless. In my case, there was minimal swelling and bleeding. I'm sure each patient's gum condition and healing outcome is different, but I would trust Dr. Hamal to be able to navigate those differences. She is practical, empathetic, forthcoming...an experienced, skillful professional. I highly recommend her.
