Deciding to do a last minute trip to Galena, my boyfriend discovered Abbey's. considering we were…read morebooking the room say day, they were very nice. we arrived around 10:30 pm, and were greeted promptly by kat. she showed us around and then took us to our room. told us breakfast was at 9, and showed us how to get back in when we would leave. we were then introduced to her husband, and we set off into the night for some fun. the room itself was nice in a quaint way. there was a jacuzzi tub in the corner, a 4 post bed, fireplace, desk, and tv. the bathroom was a bit small, and the water-pressure a bit lacking, but it was cute place. probably the biggest downside for us was how loud the bed was! you would sit down and it would creak like it was going to break. i was definitely woken up a few times by my boyfriend rolling over in the middle of the night. breakfast itself was good. there were a few things we didn't care for on the menu, but nothing to complain about overall. the barely saw the owners, which works well for me. i don't want to feel like i'm at my parents house and be checked in on all the time. nice place to stay. i would recommend coming here if you stay in galena. the gardens here a gorgeous and the view is wonderful.

Matthew, the Innkeeper, seems to have thought of everything when it comes to comfort and relaxation. Our brunch each morning was healthy, fresh, and gourmet prepared. There was complimentary wine and finger foods in the downstairs shared sitting area each late afternoon and evening. Matthew was always attentive, warm, and welcoming with any requests. We loved that we were steps away from the main shopping street of the town, and walking distance from historical sites to tour and the charming businesses of the town. We plan on returning to The Jail Hill Inn and becoming "repeat offenders" as we loved staying in our room so much this past weekend we still have so much of Galena to see.

I chose Brierwreath because we were looking for a room that could accommodate three in a room. The Heirloom Suite has a queen bed and a day bed so that fit the bill. The decor is so charming in the house. It's like stepping into an antique shop. Joe, the owner, was extremely nice. He gave us a little history of the house and was kind enough to give us recommendations of where to dine in Galena. The breakfast he served was so yummy! I definitely was a member of the Clean Plate Club. The 24 hour refreshment hutch and fridge on the guest floor is great. And the fresh cookies were a treat! I was pleased that each room had a separate sitting room and it's own bathroom/ shower. We went in the fall/summer so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the bedroom fireplace but it looked so nice! The owner (who took it over in April from his parents) was very friendly and helpful- not overbearing at all! Breakfast was good- we were able to pick between a couple options when he asked us upon checkin. Coffee was good & several juices on the table. On the bedroom level here was a mini fridge, coffee machine, and water machine for use. Also the bedrooms are more separate and since there are only 3guest rooms it was a nice private feel. The only two negatives that I found was I wished they had a surge protector next to the bed because I had to unplug the clock/radio since I prefer to keep my cell phone on the nightstand charging while I sleep (my husband had an extra outlet on his side to use); the other part is they put a lot of effort decorating... There was lots of vases and stuffed teddy bears on the ground which upon leaving I could not simply scan the floor that nothing was left. However the Best part of this place was the location! Excellent perfect location! We were able to walk to everything! When we drove to Iowa (15mins away) we passed a lot of b&b that were not so close which made us really appreciate this place!! And the price was reasonable!

Dear YELP Readers,…read more This is what I wrote to Ramona of Le Fevre Inn and Resort in Galena IL after the 4 Sista Girls Spent a wonderful Weekend retreat there !!!! The Sista Girl Club Can't Wait to Go BACK to LeFevre Inn & Resort and Galena given it's awesome scenic, quaint, friendly, and culturally diverse surroundings. It started about 6 months out when the owner Ramona responded to my many inquiries quickly and with great suggestions and discounts. We actually spent Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8th, 2017 there which was in the middle of the County Fair which was an unexpected added bonus. The ~ 3 hour drive was priceless as we drove up to paradise. The photos don't give it justice; the Gazebo, Pavilion, outdoor fire pit, indoor fire place, and our all equipped cozy inn with the cute balcony and "BAR" : that's another story for another time ;) and private parking was more than accommodating. Even the cloudy, misty, partly sunny, 60 to 70 degree weather didn't deter the four of us from having a great time. The quick easy 2 x a day drive into Galena downtown was full of wonderful surprises starting with Denise and our highly recommended Tri-State Trolley one hour tour back into Historical time and our driver/tour guide Johnny was full of character, fun facts, and great stories. Shopping at Poopsies for sum thin sum thin you never thought you would want; you'll get IT when you get there;was hilarious and the sales people jumped in to make us feel HAPPY and the discounts were priceless. Brunch at tasty Las Aztecas and Dinner at the Famous Fried Green Tomatoes was fabulous with quick friendly, service, cozy welcoming ambience, plenty of food, and huge variety of drinks. Twice we just had to stop and return to Galena's River Wine and Cheese where owners Bryon and Julie and the gang treated us special; great free tasting of wine, cheese, olive oils, dips...specially made. We did leave a lil sum thin sum thin behind for y'all to purchase. We will be back and I'm preparing my Sista Girl Scrapbook to share our experience with our family and friends. However it has a lot of charm that isn't present in a chain hotel. There are rumors of ghostly visitations, but we only found a TV on that we thought we had turned off when we went out to dinner.
