Decorated so cute inside for Christmas

I give this a 4.5 rating. Our rooms were very clean, and it was a great spot to stay last minute. The rooms need a bit of updating, but again; it was very nice. We were on the lower level. My reason for deducting a half star is that it was very very chilly, and there's not a thermostat to be found/heat control in the rooms. They might want to consider putting in some kind of additional heating for during the winter. Other than that, we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again!

Our sweet living room area

We loved our stay at the 305 North Inn, Suite 3! My mom and I stayed on a busy weekend in December when their shopping was at its peak! Because parking was so packed (literally not a spot to be found) we were fortunate to have our own reserved spot in the parking lot behind the Inn. The Inn is conveniently located right off Main Street so we walked everywhere. Big Bill's Sandwich Shop is right next door and has the best breakfast, coffee, and lunch! The exposed brick and beams in our room made for such a warm and cozy stay. The fireplace in our Suite warmed up the space quickly so you there's no need to worry about the historic old building being drafty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our host was very accommodating!

We had the pleasure of staying here while in Galena for a wedding. The proximity to the downtown is unmatched! As soon as you step out you are right on the main strip of downtown Galena. The owners have done an incredible job keeping the inn true to the time period. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the true to time period details that were preserved. We had the chance to chat with the owners and they were so kind and helpful. They gave us great recommendations for enjoying all galena has to offer. Highly recommend to any and all wanting to explore Galena! We cannot wait to go back!

This is now 305N. Changed names a few years ago. I have never stayed in a B&B before...and to be honest, I dont really think its my style but we decided to give it a whirl. Now, I also dont think this is a traditional B&B... PROS Great location. Right on main, walk to everything you would want to in Galena. Parking in the back Hot tub, fireplace, bathroom and TV in rooms...well in #4. But most have these features Continental breakfast included Desk person, David is really nice. CONS Old, like dirty old...not cute, vintage old. It seemed very run down and like no love has went into it for awhile. I accidentally found someone's black mismatched socks sticking out of the love seat while we were sitting on it...definitely grossed me out. They clearly didnt clean well. I wasnt digging in the couch...they were just sitting there. On top of that, there was a bottle cap on the floor in the bedroom and hair all over the bathroom floor. I felt gross... Definitely can hear people above you. We were on the main floor...and could hear the people above us in the hot tub and in the bedroom... The bedding wasnt plush or nice. It was like old stuff at your grandmas. Pillows were deflated and old. Carpeting was DIRTY and hardwood floors looked like they were water damaged or even moldy, eekk. Overall, I dont think I would do a B&B again...we like nice, modern hotels. You can check out my pics of the place...its run down. Needs a little face lift...just looks like no one really cares about it. We contemplated getting in our car and driving home because we just felt meh...alas, it was late and a long drive so we closed our eyes and hoped to get some sleep...popping up first thing in the AM and driving home.

Original ceiling tiles from the 1800's. Awesome!

Location is why we chose this place. Parking in the back, cute back porches off the rooms. Really big in room jacuzzi tubs. Fits 2 comfortably. This place is clean and still embraces the "old charm" with the tin ceilings. The owner is friendly and accommodating. One thing I can appreciate is that they have good towels/linens. They are NOT those thin crappy white ones that barely dry you off. And they give you extra towels for the jacuzzi!! Good job 305!! Don't expect a full b&b style breakfast, he puts out some good items, bottle oj, fresh fruit, yogurt, mini muffins. He also told us about the diner a block over that was good. I would definitely stay here again!!

A perfect romantic getaway…read more The entire weekend my wife and I could not stop talking about how charming and relaxing our room was. Matthew, the Innkeeper, seems to have thought of everything when it comes to comfort and relaxation. Our brunch each morning was healthy, fresh, and gourmet prepared. There was complimentary wine and finger foods in the downstairs shared sitting area each late afternoon and evening. Matthew was always attentive, warm, and welcoming with any requests. We loved that we were steps away from the main shopping street of the town, and walking distance from historical sites to tour and the charming businesses of the town. We plan on returning to The Jail Hill Inn and becoming "repeat offenders" as we loved staying in our room so much this past weekend we still have so much of Galena to see.

We loved the lush fresh flower arrangements in our room and throughout the entire inn. The common areas (breakfast area/living on main floor and the outdoor patio) are similarly beautiful, with comfortable seating and beautiful vistas. The food - from the afternoon appetizer/cheese/wine tray to the incredible breakfast - was really delicious. And I could go on. If you're at all contemplating a stay in Galena, this is the place to go! It is romantic, quiet, nurturing, luxurious.

Cloran mansión My…read morehusband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and so we decided to stay at the Cloran Mansion for a few days. We booked the massage and dinner package as well as renewed our vows in front of the mansion. I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had during our time here. Paul was an amazing host! He puts in a lot of details into making the experience one to remember. We have never stayed at a bed-and-breakfast so we were completely surprised by how wonderful and elegant the mansion was. On Thursday when we arrived, we had our scheduled massage, followed by our ceremony, and a private dinner in the dining room. Paul even took some pictures of us and gifted us with a beautiful framed picture of me and my husband. On Friday morning, we met some wonderful guest during our breakfast, and headed out to downtown Galena. Our breakfast was an excellent and tasty homemade breakfast, so much so, that we were so excited about breakfast the next day. Although Paul is basically the face of a mansion, his wife and employee work just as hard to make it an overall beautiful experience. We will definitely be back! We know that we have other options, but we cannot say enough about this place and want to continue to support Paul like he supports and tends to his customers. Paul and family, thank you so very much for making our 10th anniversary as memorable as you did.

The largest is called the Master Suite, and the others are named after the original owners daughters. We stayed in the "Eleanor" room, which is the smallest of the rooms. We came on Christmas Day and were the only people there. Rita, the innkeeper, was extremely pleasant, accommodating and helpful. She told us the history of the house, how she became the ninth owner and also helped us find the only restaurant open on Christmas within a 30 mile radius. She then gave us a gift of local wine and a tiny Christmas ornament. So great! Another thing I appreciated about this B&B is when I was looking up places in Galena, I noticed a rather disturbing trend of a lot of places having beautiful buildings, but then were either ridiculously expensive or else inside things got really hokey. Like with in room jacuzzi tubs or everything Super Girly with pink and lace exploding everywhere. Thanks for keeping it simple & elegant, Hellman, we are excited to come back again.

Mission accomplished. I've stayed in many hotels and after a while they pretty much all seem the same. This place is truly like staying with a family member (one that you like). The rooms are old fashioned but very cozy with comfortable beds and most importantly, CLEAN! Complimentary snacks if you get the late night munchies and awesome pastries and coffee in the morning. From the second we walked in it was if she had known us for years. No forced conversations about the weather and other lame meet and greet categories. Outstanding moment: We got hugs when we left! If you don't like to be touched you're probably weird and this might make you feel awkward but I love hugs. Again it's like visiting a family member who is looking forward to your return. We'll back back.

As noted on the website, the rooms are on the second floor and the stairs are steep -- no elevator. So just be prepared. It's an old building, so there are some creaks and groans when you walk the hall or rooms, but it is so quaint! The antique furniture is lovely. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is roomy and the water pressure worked well (always a plus for my husband). The HUGE cinnamon roll awaiting us when we arrived was wonderful!!! And we thought the price per night was affordable (under $200). Being at the end of Main St makes it more quiet than uptown further. Just an enjoyable place to stay.
