The Coach House at Felt Manor was... perfection. After 2 months stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my fiancée and I were itching for a little getaway for my birthday weekend, and we were so happy that the Felt Manor opened up their doors to The Coach House. With abiding by social distancing and public health guidelines to the fullest extent, the innkeepers, Alex and Geoff, provided us with a truly memorable experience. Alex and Geoff were very warm and welcoming and did everything they could do make our stay enjoyable. All the small little details were all graciously appreciated! Nestled on top a hill in historic Galena, Illinois, The Felt Manor and its Coach House are absolutely stunning buildings with impressive views. They truly take you back in time to the 1800s while providing you with current time comfort. The rooms are very beautiful and comfortable. And with only being a short walk away from the downtown area where all the wonderful stores and restaurants are, the Felt Manor is very conveniently located. Last but not least... the breakfasts are AMAZING. Literally the best you will ever have. Freshly-made baked goods, fresh fruit, and so much more. You know that they really craft the food with a lot of heart. Amazing flavors and beautifully presented. Oh, and they provided a delicious cheese and charcuterie board for happy hour. We would return in a heartbeat, no questions asked. HIGHLY recommend.

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. Alex and Geoff were THE BEST hosts!! Breakfast was amazing each and every day! Happy hour was always a nice surprise! Walking distance to downtown.

Quaint, clean, lovely! Dan was very hospitable. The house is so historical and interesting . The views are breathtaking. I had fresh coffee on huge front porch overlooking Galena. Afternoon wine and fresh cookies. The breakfast was insane! They welcomed my tiny Yorkie!

My friend and I stayed here for a ladies getaway night, and we could not have been happier. I dislike modernization of old homes (white painted wood, contemporary fixtures, etc), so I chose Felt Manor for the second time. It still has the original woodwork and feel of the 1800's, which is what makes these homes so spectacular, while still having every convenience. The Lucius Felt room was large and comfortable (the bed was fantastic), the wine and cookies set out were delicious, and the owner is friendly and easy going. And breakfast? Holy crap. So unbelievably tasty. He prepared an apple souffle that I would travel back to Galena solely for. Overall wonderful experience, highly recommended.

The lobby area, as well as the pool, hot tub and exercise area are great, especially the lobby. Yeah, I know, who gives a crap about the lobby, right? But this one is great. It's very Irish, and very comfy. Go hang out and have a coffee or tea and pull a book off the extensive bookshelves, settle into a plush chair, and chill out. Or stay for afternoon tea. Or in the summer, take your drink on the beautiful outdoor deck. It's a great combination of public areas to meet new friends, and private areas to have a chat. As for the rooms, I obviously can;t comment on them all, but ours was beautiful. We had ample room, plenty of entertainment, a fridge and all the amenities. Add to all that the really great restaurant (with live entertainment and a great Irish whiskey selection), and this is a wonderful place to stay. Next time I'm in Galena, this is absolutely where I will stay.

The rooms were clean and the bed was clean and comfortable!! They didn't skimp on the pillows there had to be 6 on the bed! There were so many towels! I mention this because normally I have to call down for more pillows and towels, this has to be the first time I haven't! We had a whirlpool room and it was perfect! Across the moon with him the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area so they helped us navigate what we should see first! We will definitely be back! I didn't take pictures I wish I had!

We loved the lush fresh flower arrangements in our room and throughout the entire inn. The common areas (breakfast area/living on main floor and the outdoor patio) are similarly beautiful, with comfortable seating and beautiful vistas. The food - from the afternoon appetizer/cheese/wine tray to the incredible breakfast - was really delicious. And I could go on. If you're at all contemplating a stay in Galena, this is the place to go! It is romantic, quiet, nurturing, luxurious.

For instance, the carpeting was what you would find in a mansion. The linens and towels were luxurious. We were provided with a bottle of wine and appetizers in the evening. There was a nice variety and a more than ample amount. Breakfast in the morning was out of this world! 3 Courses!!! Entrees were expertly prepared and delicious -- and healthy! Probably our favorite was the steel-cut oats with fruit and a banana foster sauce -- YUM! Again, these portions were very generous. Our host, Matthew, was very kind and attentive. I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe our experience!

This hotel seemed to have touches much classier than many of the hotels that are now part of the Wyndham family. There was a nice bar/ lounge where they also serve breakfast and a very large indoor pool. They also have a big deck outside (it was too stinking hot to use but it looked nice). Even a gift shop/ salon. The room was nice and obviously recently updated (the whole hotel appears to have been refreshed). The decor is nice and the extra sink outside the bathroom was nice. The major downside was the horrible water pressure in the shower. Is there a water shortage in northwest Illinois? This was worse than many hotels in California. Other than this issue the room was good especially at the price we paid. The breakfast was on par with other chains of this caliber though they did have real plates and silverware and the pancake machine! Would stay here again when in the area.

I had an interesting chat with the bartender and had an overall great experience here. It's just high on the hill above the town. Easy parking and check in.
