An extra star for being the cheapest room near Galena on the Saturday night we stayed there. If price is your top priority then maybe this is your place. It's a quick drive into town. The front desk staff was polite enough. The room was terrible, it smelled strongly of urine, mildew, and probably dog. There were dogs barking in nearby rooms, and the sink and shower did not drain. The beds and bedding were of poor quality. Trucks on the highway outside the room were loud and sometimes made the bed shake. In the future, unless it was once again the last room available in town, we would never stay here.

The place is close to everything and it's a good deal and it's very clean. I'm thankful that they take being clean seriously. Has everything we needed. Open free parking. Uhaul is right here too. They have a grill in the backyard, a laundry room, a full kitchen for the community of motel residents. Many amenities for a motel and nicer than normal motel. I would return especially bc they made the room very clean which means the most.

This is probably the cheapest to stay in the Galena area. The beds are ok. One big thing for me is the price was right and they allow dogs.

Quiet, clean, affordable, pet-friendly. The staff are kind to boot. Best place to stay in Galena if you travel with a pet.

A perfect romantic getaway…read more The entire weekend my wife and I could not stop talking about how charming and relaxing our room was. Matthew, the Innkeeper, seems to have thought of everything when it comes to comfort and relaxation. Our brunch each morning was healthy, fresh, and gourmet prepared. There was complimentary wine and finger foods in the downstairs shared sitting area each late afternoon and evening. Matthew was always attentive, warm, and welcoming with any requests. We loved that we were steps away from the main shopping street of the town, and walking distance from historical sites to tour and the charming businesses of the town. We plan on returning to The Jail Hill Inn and becoming "repeat offenders" as we loved staying in our room so much this past weekend we still have so much of Galena to see.

One of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Where to begin? The inn is impeccably restored. We loved the lush fresh flower arrangements in our room and throughout the entire inn. The common areas (breakfast area/living on main floor and the outdoor patio) are similarly beautiful, with comfortable seating and beautiful vistas. The food - from the afternoon appetizer/cheese/wine tray to the incredible breakfast - was really delicious. And I could go on. If you're at all contemplating a stay in Galena, this is the place to go! It is romantic, quiet, nurturing, luxurious.

Genuine hospitality, no training course required, no gold stars to obtain, no watching eye to make…read moresure the job gets done, just a down to earth inn keeper who wants to make you feel right at home. Mission accomplished. I've stayed in many hotels and after a while they pretty much all seem the same. This place is truly like staying with a family member (one that you like). The rooms are old fashioned but very cozy with comfortable beds and most importantly, CLEAN! Complimentary snacks if you get the late night munchies and awesome pastries and coffee in the morning. From the second we walked in it was if she had known us for years. No forced conversations about the weather and other lame meet and greet categories. Outstanding moment: We got hugs when we left! If you don't like to be touched you're probably weird and this might make you feel awkward but I love hugs. Again it's like visiting a family member who is looking forward to your return. We'll back back.

As noted on the website, the rooms are on the second floor and the stairs are steep -- no elevator. So just be prepared. It's an old building, so there are some creaks and groans when you walk the hall or rooms, but it is so quaint! The antique furniture is lovely. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is roomy and the water pressure worked well (always a plus for my husband). The HUGE cinnamon roll awaiting us when we arrived was wonderful!!! And we thought the price per night was affordable (under $200). Being at the end of Main St makes it more quiet than uptown further. Just an enjoyable place to stay.

Dear YELP Readers,…read more This is what I wrote to Ramona of Le Fevre Inn and Resort in Galena IL after the 4 Sista Girls Spent a wonderful Weekend retreat there !!!! The Sista Girl Club Can't Wait to Go BACK to LeFevre Inn & Resort and Galena given it's awesome scenic, quaint, friendly, and culturally diverse surroundings. It started about 6 months out when the owner Ramona responded to my many inquiries quickly and with great suggestions and discounts. We actually spent Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8th, 2017 there which was in the middle of the County Fair which was an unexpected added bonus. The ~ 3 hour drive was priceless as we drove up to paradise. The photos don't give it justice; the Gazebo, Pavilion, outdoor fire pit, indoor fire place, and our all equipped cozy inn with the cute balcony and "BAR" : that's another story for another time ;) and private parking was more than accommodating. Even the cloudy, misty, partly sunny, 60 to 70 degree weather didn't deter the four of us from having a great time. The quick easy 2 x a day drive into Galena downtown was full of wonderful surprises starting with Denise and our highly recommended Tri-State Trolley one hour tour back into Historical time and our driver/tour guide Johnny was full of character, fun facts, and great stories. Shopping at Poopsies for sum thin sum thin you never thought you would want; you'll get IT when you get there;was hilarious and the sales people jumped in to make us feel HAPPY and the discounts were priceless. Brunch at tasty Las Aztecas and Dinner at the Famous Fried Green Tomatoes was fabulous with quick friendly, service, cozy welcoming ambience, plenty of food, and huge variety of drinks. Twice we just had to stop and return to Galena's River Wine and Cheese where owners Bryon and Julie and the gang treated us special; great free tasting of wine, cheese, olive oils, dips...specially made. We did leave a lil sum thin sum thin behind for y'all to purchase. We will be back and I'm preparing my Sista Girl Scrapbook to share our experience with our family and friends. Love and Hugs, Sistas Belinda/Heart, Sheila/Free, Darlene/Sunshine, and me, Linda "Too Tall"/Happy I would love to try and take advantage of your very generous offer...I will pass this along to the other Sista Girls to see if they can afford it. I may need to pass since I have to pay for a destination wedding in 6 months...for a friend :) Love and Many Hugs, Sista Linda Too Tall Happy PS: Have also shared the Good/G-D news on Trip Advisor too.

CONS: The room is not worth almost $300 a night because we spent the weekend killing hundreds of lady bugs. They we're on the walls, ceiling, on the TV and in our bed in the morning. You can see light around the entire door. The deadbolt also did not work. We checked in, turned on the AC unit and left for a wedding. By the time we got back the room smelled strongly of old cigarette smoke. It was almost unbearable. Be warned that if you use the jetted tub, you will have to fill it up over a long period of time, taking breaks, due to the water heater not having enough hot water to fill it. It also loses water quickly while plugged. Overall, I can't see us staying there again. For that price it just wasn't worth it
