At first I rented tanks from Hellers until they charged me $4.95 a gallon for propane. I purchased my own tanks and was quickly contacted by Hellers asking why I purchased my own tanks. When advised it was due to the outrageous price, they advised that they could have adjusted the price. They then quoted a rate of $1.93 a gallon so I agreed to be filled up them. I agreed to a credit for the amount of propane I had left in my tanks at the $4.95 a gallon rate. Later that month, after Hellers removed their tanks, I contacted them because there was no credit on my account. They advised that I had a 120 gallon credit. I advised that I agreed to the credit at $4.95 a gallon, not the straight gallon credit, which would be drastically less. They advised that no monetary amount could be attached to a credit but I could receive a refund. They advised that if I request a refund, a termination fee would apply. They advised a termination fee is anywhere between $150-200. I just received a refund from Hellers that subtracted a $362 fee. DO NOT USE HELLERS CORUPT BUSINESS PRATICES read more

I stopped using hellers 2 years ago best switch I ever did They were constantly $0.50-$1/gallon more than every one else they had a million excuses as to why, I didn't use enough for reduced rate, other companies offer low rates to lure you in everytime I got a fill up had to argue and manager would finally issue a credit had enough and switched to another company, no problems with rates since rate I get charged is fair market same as my neighbors and everyone else have not been overcharged since switching read more

We switched to Hellers after a salesmen came to our door he made them sound so good.It should have been a red flag that they had to go door to door selling. They never once came to deliver with out having to call when we were getting low.We were to be put on a budget plan after 1 year that never happened Then this morning I called them and told them we switched to another company to please come get your bottles they asked me why.I gave them 2 resons she put me on hold a man came on the line I told him we were switching he asked why I told him what I told her and then he continued to want to know why 2 reasons wasn't enough then he asked who we switched to I don't feel that I need to do anything but let you know to come get the bottles they will find out who when they pick them up read more

It's been almost 4 years since I've had one, just one tank at the trailer I use to own. When it was sold I had called and told them to go get their tank, that I never used any gas out of it and no longer owned the trailer. Now today I'm served with papers for a hearing they want money for the one tank....they were told to pick it up, so how is this my fault when they were told and either obviously didn't go pick it up or actually did go, but trying to scam more money from people since I've asked around and my case isn't the first this has happened...and already charging more then most in the area. Greedy is what comes to mind. Wouldn't recommend to anyone read more

Do NOT do business with this company. There service is the absolute worst.... Get this... They leased me a 200 gallon tank. It was installed ... I paid for the Gas.... and they sent an employee to take the tank away. Basically, they stole the gas back AFTER I paid for it. No explanation.. no phone call ... just came and stole the gas back. And Wait... Get this... is was during a deep freeze... left me without heat. read more

I recently changed propane companies to Hellers gas company because of the price. No one could touch their prices. They did a leak check, which was not easy for the nice tech guys, and they were in and out promptly. I would like to mention that they were very nice to deal with. read more

Absolutely, positively the most horrendous service. We had 2 100 gallon tanks on our property with Heller's when we moved here. Thinking we were stuck with the supplier, we used Heller's for 3 years, dealing with abysmal "customer service" (they hate answering the phone and getting a delivery to you) and extortionate pricing. It would cost easily over $400 to fill both tanks. You absolutely MUST have a $0 balance before you get them re-filled. After paying off one such balance of $463, we scheduled a delivery. A few days after, we got a flyer for a competitor. After speaking to them on the phone, and asking about their pricing, we realized we can pay $100 or LESS for a top off - no waiting until the tank is low! Imagine that! So after we called Heller's, explained that we are going to switch to someone else, they verbally (BIG MISTAKE on our end) said that they would remove the tanks, measure the difference, and pro-rate us. Ha! That never happened! We were then served a court order to pay them or lose our stuff. We lost the court case (since we had no proof of the agreement), and sure enough the sheriff came and took an inventory of stuff in our home to settle the $700+ bill. Heller's couldn't be bothered to call us (or answer their own phones) and settle this. They are a bunch of rude, crass, shallow, and unscrupulous business owners. Buyer beware! Cheaper alternatives are out there with companies that WANT to keep you in their good graces. read more

Worst service ever! The staff has a terrible attitude. They just shut your off and lock up your gas tank without any notice what so ever! I got home to find they locked up my tank with no notice and the best is I have a tank with 25% full. They can pick up their tank. They're not the only ones in town. Their prices are not the best either. read more

We went to the Effort store on November 23rd to purchase a fireplace gas log set for our vacation home. The very nice and professional sales lady handled the purchase and set up an install date for December 12th. After we came back up here from Delaware County on the 12th, we found out that the set didn't come in, they had to reschedule for December 28th. Fine, we were up here for the holidays that week anyhow. So, the installers didn't get here until 4:15 pm on the 28th, and then couldn't complete the install because they didn't have the right drill bit to run the propane line. This morning, December 31st, I had to go to the Effort store because they weren't returning my phone calls. They apologized for the problems on the 28th, and gave me an appointment for January 18th to, allegedly, finish the install. Now, the log set is in the fireplace, the propane tank is in the yard, and the invoice has been paid in full. Just a shame that the stupid thing won't work without the propane line. Suffice it to say, not a fan of Hellers Gas. I shudder to think what will happen if I need service for the thing. I wonder if anyone from Hellers reads this stuff? read more

These people almost killed my entire family with their bad propane. After checking out my fireplace and stating it was operable, slowly over a month of two my entire family was sick and the house became filled with soot. A professional cleaning service and painters had to come and paint my ENITRE house. Don't walk, run away from these people. I complained several times about the high gas consumption and now I know why, it was leaking in my home. I was told by the FD we were lucky we all did not die. read more

Heller's gas is the most corrupt company on the planet. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I am disabled and I had to have gas on a Saturday. They brought me gas but, they charged me almost $400.00 for the delivery charge. I had no other heat source and I had to have heat. I am disabled from a car accident and had to do something. I didn't know they were going to charge that kind of delivery fee. Then they sued me and the judge gave them the judgement. Today a sheriff came to take my personal belongings to sell to pay them. I own nothing. I am disabled and only make $900.00 a month in disability and they want to take my clothes and other furniture and sell it. This is completely uncalled for. There has to be something done to this company for this kind of behavior. DO NOT USE THEM AT ALL!!!! read more

If I could score this company lower than a 1 I would. The office is the most unprofessionally run place I've ever seen. I switched to another gas company because they offered a much more affordable rate to lock into for the winter season. When I called Heller's they told me that they would give me a rate that was almost $1.00 a gallon higher, when you consume over a thousand gallons of propane in a year's time, that's substantial money. They sent a technician out on Tuesday to remove our tanks (since we switched to another company, the tanks were not ours), after talking to the office they decided to let us use up the propane that was in the tanks and then they would come and remove them. Low and behold that same technician showed up again with an order to immediately remove the tanks, so here we sit, no propane tanks, no heat, and it's freezing outside, and they have stolen $200 worth of propane that I had already paid for. If I could call the police I would. Do yourselves a favor, don't deal with this vindictive and malicious company, not one of them is honest nor are they trustworthy, their word means crap. Sincerely, Palmerton Pissed Patron! read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. No accountability. Got shouted down when I was trying to explain my situation. Reluctant to give me the name and number of direct supervisor. Nothing but LIES from these people. HORRIBLE. read more

After dealing with service from Heller's Gas I would never recommend them to anyone. The female manager at the Effort location is just plain out rude and nasty. She is the most un-professional manager I have ever met in my entire life. She wouldn't let me explain my complaint without cutting me off, or listen to what I have to say. Somebody needs to remind her that if it wasn't for us customers, she would not have a job. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HELLER'S GAS IN EFFORT!! read more

had hellers come pick up my tank last month, they told me they don't refund for the gas that is left in the tank. I had almost a full tank when they came and got it. what a rip off this company is. Now they can sell that tank to someone else. Will never do business with heller"s again. they are way overpriced and seem to enjoy ripping off there customers. read more

Heller's gas company is one of the most unprofessional, horribly run companies I have ever dealt with. Sold our house and called to transfer the service to new owners. Heller gas doesn't do that. After the sale they leave a note on the door. Really?? And no compensation for the 80+ gallons of propane left in the tank. Last gas company we dealt with (suburban), transferred the service and credited us with the remaining propane. Do yourself a favor and find another propane supplier. read more

We had Hellers for a little over a year. After being unhappy and shopping around we realized we were paying over a dollar more per gallon than every other company we looked at. There were times when they would fill the tank and then send us a bill even if we didn't order. Customer service was lacking, especially when dealing with them on the phone. I wish there was lower than one star. read more

We always have a problem with Heller's Gas. They wont set up auto delivery for us. When we call for gas we always get the same nasty response. If they aren't nasty they always say, oh yeah I don't know when we can come maybe in 2 or 3 days. HELLO ITS COLD AND WE PAY FOR YOUR CRAP GAS!!! They need to learn good business practices and train their employees. read more

If you are looking for a propane supplier steer clear of Hellers Gas. I was a loyal customer for over a year and a half despite paying top rate prices for propane and was unable to set up a level payment plan until the summer. I payed my bill monthly without missing any payments( which averaged about $350-$400 a month). Once I decided to install my own tanks and had the ability to shop around for propane suppliers did the story change. They called me to offer me a "special price" if I continued to stay with them. I declined and they came onto my property without notifying me and took the tanks!! I realize they own the tanks and I was just leasing them, but I paid top dollar for the propane still in them. I have tried to receive a credit for the propane they took back but was only told it was written somewhere in the fine print they had the right to take the tanks. To make matters worse I had to pay an additional $80 for the regulator they installed on the house or a tech would come out and take it off my home! Please do your homework before doing business with this company. Don't make the same mistake I did and trust Hellers Gas to care about the customer or customer service...it's only about how much money they can take you for and leave you in the cold when there's no more money to take. read more

no matter what you have read, and the price is right, good service, up to date, people in the field, clean, and don t wast time, and a company that has been around this area a long time,. i have worked with others for propane, and there out of line with there cost, and services i could tell you stories but why, you will find out your self, but if you want honesty then , call hellers,,, Loreen dougherty read more

I agree with all the reviews. They were way over priced. Would recommend everyone to stay away from them

Excellent service - They actually have a person answer the phone. They also are courteous, polite and professional. I was recommended by a friend and would recommend them to others. I had a tank with a competitor of theirs for 19 years and Heller's easily exceeded their service and had a significantly lower price. I expected less service with the lower cost but was pleasantly surprised. read more

What an absolute joke this company is. I kept this company when I bought the house and apparently it was set up as automatic refill. After they filled it the first time and I paid for it I asked that they take me off of automatic refill. This past January I had my house on the market for sale and was not currently living in the home and they came out and filled my tank in the spring. I called and told them that I am not even living at the home and they did not contact me to fill it. They told me there was nothing they could do because it was on automatic fill. I wasn't going to pay for it but then they charged me a late fee so I just paid for it. So I figured whatever now the new owners will have a full tank. I contacted Heller's a week before closing and gave them the new sellers information. I had also contacted them prior to this and gave them the sellers information but they never called them so I gave it to them again. Not even a week after closing and it was the sellers first weekend in the house and they woke up to make breakfast and the stove wasn't working. They went outside and the full tank was gone. They called the office but it was closed on a Sunday. So they called this morning (Monday morning) and asked why they took the tank. The office employee Jason told them that they didn't have any of their contact information and they had to take it?? But they may be able to squeeze them in tomorrow to install a new tank and of course charge them for the full tank. I called Heller's today as well and they told me that they left a note for the sellers but they never contacted them so they had to take it. I told them that I called twice and provided them with the new owners information both times. They said well they did contact them with a door tag. They told me that there was nothing that they can do and its the national law. After I talked to the new owners and told them what Jason from Heller Gas said... she said they never told her that they left a tag on the door. They just said that they didn't have any of their contact information so they couldn't contact them. Now there are trying to charge the new owners for a full tank but a free install?!?!?!?! So I just paid for a full tank of propane that I did not order because apparently I was on automatic refill again!? And then they just come and take it? I handled this as politely as I could and the gentleman, Jason, was not very friendly and just kept saying these are the national laws. UNREAL! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

If you're thinking of using Heller's Gas Company as your propane supplier and are concerned about customer service and on time delivery think again! We recently hired Heller's to supply propane to heat our home after becoming dissatisfied with our old gas company. Our experience has been aggravating to say the least. After installing our tanks I believed that the connection was leaking because of abnormally high gas consumption. When I brought my concerns to their attention I was told "Well sir, it's been a cold winter". REALLY?? I'm sorry but I've spent the entire winter under a rock and didn't notice! Then she said if I wanted them to check the connection they would send a service man out at $150.00! REALLY?? They're your tanks and you installed them just a short month or two ago! Then, at the last billing cycle they gave me an invoice with their wrong mailing address which they admitted was their fault but refused to deliver gas because I hadn't paid in full. REALLY?? So they allowed me to run out of gas and could not care less even though I was able to prove my payment went through via my bank. Now I'm about to run out again and they have missed two promised delivery dates. I know it's intentional and I know they are playing games but any calls to their office gets a condescending attitude. When you ask to speak to the manager you suddenly learn where his team learned to be so condescending to customers. They have learned from the Master! Their boss! I can't wait to tell them to get their f'in tanks out of my yard! read more

I have been a customer of Heller Gas for MANY years. They usually just automatically fill our tank. I never had to call. Last year, around the holidays, I prepared a meal to cook. When I tried to start the oven, it wouldn't start. My propane tank was empty. I called them, and they apologized, and sent someone immediately to fill the tank. This afternoon....yet ANOTHER HOLIDAY, I was preparing a meal for a big party that I'm having tomorrow. I went to start the oven, and there was no gas....I called Heller. Of course, it's now a weekend, so I was put through to an answering service. The person I spoke with said that he was "looking at my account" and that I am on a "call for service" basis. REALLY? I have NEVER had to call to have my tanks filled (other than the last holiday when my tank was empty). For YEARS, they would just automatically fill the tank. I told this guy that if this were true, then they were charging my American Express card illegally for propane that I didn't call for!!!!! I asked him to have someone (other than their answering service) call me back. I needed to speak with someone from HELLER's directly. He told me that he couldn't do that. I told him to send someone to pick up their tank and get it off of my property IMMEDIATELY. No one has come. I own a sign company and plan on putting a sign up on my property telling the public what a disaster this company is. I also own a residential community. There are three new homes being built here, and I am not going to recommend HELLER GAS to ANYONE in this community. read more
