I contacted Heller's gas to request going rate for propane and to ask if allowed to shop around for different suppliers. I told them that due to Covid my income was reduced and I needed to look into other options to lower bills. They were willing to work with me and made me help better with the plan we worked out. Do yourself a favor and don't get a tank that Heller can monitor. They have not delivered to me in over a week cuz they can see how much gas that I have. Keep hearing that they're taking care of customers who are almost out of gas. I told them that I have a standby generator that could be damaged or not work if the power goes out. How many customers are calling and lying about how much gas they have left? I watched the Heller truck go by our place twice yesterday. No delivery. read more

See i wanted to see what would happen so I asked for a delivery and yet they trying to scam me. No driver ever showed up. I have security cameras and when you don't ask for a delivery they show up and give you a bill over $200. This is truly an unlawful situation I am certain. Been a customer with Hellers since 2018. No issues. We make our payments on time before the due date on the invoice. No issues. All of a sudden, we received an email to contact them before they deliver our next propane fill. They alert my husband that we have to pay upfront for the propane before they deliver it. We were making payments as an established customer, and have a budget. Now with this new so called "policy change" we are now forced into paying the propane upfront. This is some shady business practices because they also won't provide much information about this "policy change." Then they contradicted themselves by stating it was to establish credit. Why would I have to establish credit? Ive been a customer for years. Never any issues! Hellers, I hope you realize you just lost us as a customer. I refuse to play these games with you. read more

Heller's Gas - A Very Disappointed Customer... - Propane Near Me - Effort, Pennsylvania

CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! Heller Gas is a scam artist. We had been customers for about 10 years. Recently cancelled service due to moving and selling the house the service was for. Well, apparently if they "gave" you 50 gallons free at startup and you had fuel remaining in the tank, at cancellation, you WILL NOT get your refund! We are trying to get a refund for the remaining amount left over the 50 gallons and the "Upper management" denied the request. I asked if they plan to resell that fuel and the remaining fuel was already paid in full back in January. I was told "no" to reselling- haha. I threatened an attorney due to them stealing my fuel/money and reselling (double dipping) and now they are asking upper management AGAIN if we can get any refund. Good riddance Heller Gas, so glad I went with another company at the new house. read more

If I could give them a zero star I would we were customers for 6 years never skipped a payment always paid in full. Last month I got sick called up they assured me I could pay their extreme high price bill monthly. This month when it was time for another fill up they told me I had to pay in full the bill I had scheduled for monthly payments before they could give us another delivery. Unreal they made me feel like so bad as if I was not going to pay them. They refused to fill my tank unless I paid in full which I had always done anyways. I was going to pay the balance and the new fill as soon as they came. Because they refused I paid them in full and went with a better company that not only cares about the consumer but were a lot cheaper Shame on Hellers gas all they care about is the bottom line money money money read more

Over price.... Took a day off work for them to tap into existing line to add another fireplace. They didn't come all day. I called around 5 and said they would be there. Showed up 7pm to look and say didn't have the correct tool. I told them what I needed done when scheduled. Had to take another day off. They didn't come. Next day I phoned and they said and no one answered/ was home. I have a picture window...... they never came. They talked to tech an said no one answered. So I took off work, then they lied about no one there, told me they couldn't give hours of when during day so I would have to take another day off. I am not happy with them at all. Oh. One more thing. Billed 4.78 a gallon 3/2025. Average in PA is 2.78.... diff of over 100.00. Need less to say I'm not happy and do NOT recommend. Hellers's gas delivery guy don't remember his name one day delivering gas and my house is filled with the scent of gas. Come to find out this idiot is getting stoned on the gas so as he's filling it, he's also releasing it into the air so he can get stoned on it I witnessed this first hand. At first, I thought he was bleeding the tanks because as it was explained to me, he needed to let the air out there is no fucking air in the tanks. It's propane. Fumes be also aware of the amount of gas you have existing in the tanks before they make a delivery, the delivery guy has a tendency to empty the tank, even though it may have a few pounds left and then fill it as if the tanks were completely empty to begin with read more

I was with them for over 10 years with problems here and there, but lately they've gotten better. Until they decided they wanted to charge me over $500 for a minimum use fee. I have a generator with two hundred gallon tanks, it's known from the start I'm not going to use a lot of propane with those two tanks unless there's a power outage, obviously.. I have another tank That's used for a propane fireplace for heat. And I spent over $1,000 for the year. I've had the generator for 3 years and they never charged me a minimum usage, fee and I've actually paid more for propane this year than I've had the previous three. To make a long story short I decided to go with another propane company. So, Heller's set up a time to come pick up their tanks, they picked up three propane tanks, 100 gallon each. Two of them were full. They refunded me $92 and charged me $168 to remove their tanks from my property. They stole over $500 from me, I paid for that propane and it cost me over $500. Only a thief would do something like that. I've had propane companies before, and switched companies before, this never happened to me before hellers. They are a crooked, underhanded company. I filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania state attorney general. But hellers wouldn't even respond to them. Unethical, unprofessional crooked, greedy company. Why wouldn't they respond to the state attorney general unless they knew they did something unethical and sleazy. They are crooked, do not trust them. read more

As a new homeowner I have been guilty of just paying bills as they come without giving much review. Was being charged $3.79/gal for my last delivery. Thanks to a facebook group I called back and got them to change their price but first only to $2.99/gal. Since I needed to book a new provider before I really told them to get lost I accepted this and asked for the invoice to be sent to my house. Called back not even 24 hours later after securing with modern gas (union booked too far out to wait) and now they can go down to $2.19/gal. Paid that bill and cancelled my service. What irks me the most was their initial response saying they can always work to negotiate pricing for their customers. WHY NOT OFFER THAT FROM DAY 1?!?! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Should we all start going into the gas station before filling up our cars to ask what's it's REAAAALLY going for today? Glad I caught this before end of this winter as they already got me all last winter and I never thought anything of it. Keep looking out for one another! I now feel compelled to follow the heller trucks when I see them and drop a kind note in the homeowners mailbox making sure they are aware of what this company is doing. Can only imagine how many people are being taken advantage of. Run as far away from these thieves as possible! read more

The hands down worst service, and customer service ever. Worse than car warranty telemarketers. After being charged 200 dollars more than our next door neighbor for the same propane. Only difference is we dont use propane to cook. When cancelled service manager WENDY was very arrogant. Seemed like she was angry we cancelled. Oh well when u charge 1 dollar more than the average price or even different customer pricing for the SAME product and delivery schedule people will see that. And leys not forget a surchase for delivery And good luck getting a customer service rep to handle any issue you get put on hold for a "manager". One time waited 20 minutes. Sometimes even even longer. If you need home propane services. RUN dint walk away or fall for their marketing schemes read more

Would leave a 0 star if possible. Absolutely horrible company. Robbed us for years. When we canceled service they informed us they're taking our tank that until they slapped a tank monitor on it read CUSTOMER OWNED. Once they put the monitor on "to insure the correct amount of gas being read" it changed to "leased". I have screenshots of before they put the monitor on and they will not honor it even though the tank itself doesn't say Hellers on it! It's clearly NOT THEIR TANK. When I asked them for ownership of the tank they could not provide it. IDK how they're still operating. read more

Hellers Gas has BAD business practices To make a long story short, I purchased a local food establishment. The previous owner owed one invoice for $500. I explained I purchased the business/changed names and needed a new account. Fine- no problem- all I asked is they split the balance into the next few deliveries. They assured me they would notify me when I'm approaching 10-15% so I know I need a fill in the next week or so. Not only did they not stick to the payment arrangement of the previous owners balance built into the next 4 deliveries, they demanded I pay half as well as the upcoming delivery in full. But that's not even the problem, they waited until my gas was a few percent to text me and ask if my fryer was still working and it wasn't. So they waited until I was out of gas and changed the payment arrangement and also demanded I prepay for a delivery (normally they bill you for the delivery after it's done.) So I was forced to come up with almost a grand when things are tight to begin with when it was so low I had no other options. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. The previous balance technically was not my responsibility and I was paying it because I want to do the right thing with another small local business. Mafia style business practices. Already called to switch to someone else. Wish I could've switched before forcing me to come up with almost a grand with not even a days notice. And unfortunately that's a lot of money with no notice for myself and mt business. I would never do something like that. But it explains why they have a 1 star rating on YELP after almost 100 reviews. read more

I purchased a home that had a Heller propane tank. I called them to notify them of ownership of the new home. They told me I needed to top off the tank which would cost me over $300. I did. Within days, I realized I want to sell this house. I called Heller propane, notifying them of my settlement date. I never used the propane. It was summer and and sole use was for the fireplace. She told me I would be receiving $230 back. When I wasn't receiving my refund, I called an spoke with Autumn. Autumn lied to me several times. She told me the check was sent out and it takes the post office 2 weeks to deliver it. When I called her on this misinformation and told her that I know first hand that I should have received it in 3 days, she said she needed to speak with accounting. She comes back telling me that they will expedite a check to me. She had to admit it was never sent out. I called a week and a half later to learn that there was never a check sent out. This woman told me the refund would be deposited in my credit card account. I have found that $140 has been returned to me. When I called to find out why I did not receive my $230, the woman said I should not have been quoted $230. There was a charge of $75 for removal of the tank. This is something I was not made aware of. This is a company I will never do business with again. They are liars. I would not trust them ever again. read more

TOTAL rip-off. They delivered a tank in June (when my fireplace was built). I used fireplace for about 10 minutes to see if propane gas worked in fireplace. Then didn't use it until November. Used 5 occasions until early December, when I left for Florida. Came back up to home in March and tank was empty. I told them it had to have a leak, since I only used it 5 times. They REFUSED to reimburse or credit towards a new tank. Led me on to keep calling back to fix the issue. I called LITERALLY every day, sometimes 2-3x, leaving messages. I ended up losing the money and not getting another tank from them. Terrible customer service, terrible attitudes, crappy service, crappy product. read more

I have been a customer for years. They delivered 78 gallons of propane to my house this Friday and charged me $515. I called them and lost my mind because they are charging me over $6 a gallon and they said the price was reflective of market rates. I disagreed and disputed their rates and they lowered my price down to $4.79 a gallon. I still felt like this price was double what I should be paying. Soo, I looked up EIP Pricing (US Energy Information Administration) The pricing was $2.94 a gallon in Pa week ending 10/24. So, I got to thinking.... I decided to call Heller gas from an UNFAMILIAR phone number and acted like I was a new customer. They quoted me $1.88 a gallon for propane. This is all within a matter of ONE HOUR. After another 20 minutes of telling them to pick up their equipment and unused gas they locked my price in at $2.99 a gallon and adjusted my bill to what it should be. I would like to say to the consumers. DONT let these companies take advantage of you. Tell them to take their tanks and their gas and stick it where the sun dont shine. read more

Gave them $680 dollars to fill up.tank as when I moved in itvwas at 17%. Then added $460. I thought that would hold me until at least April. I've used it twice since November. She called my landlord and said I was using my gas stove to heat up the house and was in danger of burning down the house. 1st I'm paying the bill his name isn't on the account anymore. My mother is 81- years- old and has continued concerns about the flame on her propane stove being yellow. It has been a concern since Heller's filled her tank on 1/5/22. She has called the emergency number for 2 days. The first day they told her they would get back with her and they have NOT. The second day she called they did not answer at all. Last year I received a very high bill. I questioned how it was so high and was given the response that I didn't understand the price of propane. I tried canceling my service and was told I'd get my price reduced if I stayed. I decided to leave my line shut off so that no gas would be used. While I was at work this year, a gas truck showed up. Days later, I got a bill for nearly $100. I used absolutely no gas. read more

Unauthorized removal of tank from property Twice in a row, Heller's Gas removed the tank on our property without prior permission from us. The first time I called them, they told me that I had to pay for them to bring it back and for the refill (it had only recently been filled), and eventually, they waived that. When our house was sold, I gave Heller's Gas the names of the buyers and the realtor so they could transfer the account. Guess what, shortly afterwards, the tank was removed again, with a note that it was still 80% full. Plus the fact, that the gas tank did not have a gauge, so we were always charged a flat fee when they filled it. I do not RECOMMEND this company! read more

We had a new stove delivered when they went to install the valve wouldn't shut off. So in a panic we called Heller's and went outside to shut the tanks off. The lady on the phone was nice but said if we wanted them to come out it would be 150 and hour service fee.. Okay. I realize that people need paid but what are we supposed to do.. fix it ourselves? So the guys came out and they checked for leaks and we explained to them what happened. They were very nice but I could tell the didnt believe me about the shut off valve until they actually smelled the propane.. and he ran outside to shut it off...again. So after explaining yes there was something wrong with the shut off valve he didn't have the correct tools in his loaner truck to fix the problem... Sure understandable. Since it was already after 6 and it would take a 90 minute round trip to go get the tool and come back. We agreed that it would be okay to finish it the next day and leave the propane off. So the next morning they came back and finished the job and set up our stove which was very nice, and they did not have to. My Mother paid them the 220ish dollars for parts and labor. We then get a bill for an additional hour because they were here the previous night, even though they couldn't finish the job. The man on the phone said that they didn't care that it was an emergency and that was the price regardless and they did 'install' stoves. Techs are great, office people are kinda jerks. read more
