I have called them every day and they always say the same thing, "It will be there today". We are now down to zero percent. We had to buy heaters and I had to go shower at a friends house because of no hot water. We have been without gas for 9 days. Its been below freezing every day. We have called everyday begging for it. We have family over for the holidays. I am beyond amazed of the lack of service provided. They said 300$ to expedite delivery. We held out until our delivery window which was Dec 23-27! We ordered gas on the Dec 10! Got a text message on Dec 22 saying our gas will be delivered Dec 23. Still no gas. Worst company around. 2 -3 times the price of every other company. Customer service is awful. I was a customer for 17 years, Their prices just went up and up. Most recently wanted $4.98/gallon to fill my 500 gallon tank. I asked if they had any discounts as I was a long-standing customer and I knew that if I were a new customer, it would cost half that. They offered nothing. Besides the fact I couldn't even talk to anyone local or in this country for that matter. I called another company who was here in 2 weeks with a new tank and $2.16/gallon. Amazingly poor customer service. We bought our house just over a year ago and took over the propane tank lease. The tank itself is a rust bucket. Not much paint left on the tank and it is dated on the tank as 1971. A 53 year old tank. It looks bad and is questionably safe. Some serious rust in a few places. All I want is for it to be cleaned, painted, and maintained per lease agreement. I have been calling for the past 10 months or so and each time, they state someone should call me in the next 72 hours. No one has ever gotten in contact with us over ten months and about 5 calls. Per the Amerigas account notes, Amerigas stated they called me once after 6 months of calling, but they apparently never left a message and we are frequently out of cell range due to our remote location. After several more calls over the last 5 months, I was amazed I got an appointment scheduled for someone to come out today and look at the tank. They missed their appoint from this morning (now 3:21pm). I called again and they said the tech was still going to come out and they reiterated the appointment time to me, which they were already past due to arrive. I try to be reasonable, I try to be patient, I understand we are a little more rural here, but we aren't in the boonies. Ten months with no call back and missed appointment...this is uncalled for. I apy my bills and stand up to my side of the lease agreement, why can't they. Unfortunately, I have no other options being this rural. All I ask is that people follow thru and do what they say they are going to do. Call me back in a reasonable amount of time, not 10 months later, and show up for appointment. Miserable company. I have spent more than 40 years in the service industry and fully understand that most customers write reviews when they are UNHAPPY. As such, I have a personal rule to ALWAYS review when I have a good experience; and only write a bad review when it really matters. This is one of those times. We fired AmeriGas this month for 2 reasons - 1) for delivering the most horrific service we've ever experienced from a utility company. 2) for price gouging (currently more than $7.00 a gal). So the price speaks for itself. The service issues we've had over the past year: - They missed auto-delivery and we ran out of propane in February. - They blamed us because they had 2 accounts in their system. (We had nothing to do with the account set-up). - They took 2 weeks to deliver propane, re-hook us up and confirm no leaks. - Their "minimum" is 100 gallon vs. 50 like most competitors. "Minimum" charge is outrageous ($250+ in addition to propane pruchase). - Each call to the call center was met with broken promises and eventually, the need for escalation to a supervisor. - When we finally had enough and cancelled their service, they repeatedly missed the pick-up of the existing tank (causing us to have to reschedule the new company multiple times). - When they finally showed up, they SHUT OFF THE SERVICE BUT LEFT THE TANK due to a "inaccessibility" issue. The structure that covered the tank was easily moved by me, myself (a 120-lb. 5'5" woman). - It took another week to get them back out and they missed the promised day/timeline 3 times. Thankfully the new company removed their tank and did their work for us. - We found that Amerigas missed an outside leak (that evidently was there for years) as evidenced by the damage to a valve. We do not recommend AmeriGas for residential customers as we are clearly not a priority or taken seriously. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE. read more

This is the absolute worst company that I have ever dealt. They advertise a new and improved phone system that keeps you on hold for more than an hour and then it frequently cuts you off. I tried a chat and they said that they do not have personnel to chat with me. I requested propane delivery on December 2nd and they said they would deliver by December 14th. On the 15th I called and asked when they would deliver and they told me that they had not even scheduled a delivery even though the request showed on their computer (I had to wait an hour and 23 minutes to speak to someone.) Two days and 3 calls later I was promised 3 times that a delivery was coming. I now have no propane, no heat, no response from Amerigas! As far as I'm concerned they have breached are contract and I will be pursuing arbitration. read more

I have been waiting 11 days for a propane delivery. Today is Christmas Eve, so I'm pretty sure I won't be getting it today or tomorrow. I wish I could give no stars. I am appalled at how bad their service is. They missed our auto delivery. We ran out of gas. Now it is 5 days since the expedited our delivery AND WE HAVE NO GAS. Each day they tell me I am scheduled for the next day. This morning at 8 am they told me their ETA was 2 hours. When I called at noon to find out what was going on, they told me I was scheduled for tomorrow. I am on my way to Home Depot to buy space heaters and I am dropping the bills off to my local office. I hope my pipes don't freeze, but have every intention of suing them if they do. They OWN the tank in the ground at my house so I have no option whatsoever to get this filled by anyone else. My family is out of fuel, it's cold and Amerigas said it would be $300 for an emergency delivery. I can't pay that so I'm still waiting for a delivery. Over the summer, I'll have them pick up their tank and get a local company to do business with. I pay my bills promptly so I don't know what the problem is. On December 2, I requested to have my residential tank filled and received a delivery window of 12/3 - 12/14.   No delivery came. On 12/15 and every subsequent day up to and including today, 12/21, we have called customer support twice per day and have been told each time that we were on the next day's schedule and could possibly get delivery same day.  And that if anything changed we would get a call back (communicated by supervisors in customer support department).  Every time, no call, nor delivery, and when we followed up the next day we were told we were not on any schedule.  We now have less than 5% (critical) in the tank, we've purchased electric heaters, shut off the water and my wife and kids have gone to our in-laws.  I just got off the phone (after trying a failed chat support, site crashed) and was told I couldn't speak with a manager and there was nothing else that could be done aside from "we're sorry you're frustrated with our services". Over 6 hours in total of being in hold, frustrated is an understatement. read more

We added supplemental propane heat hence we gave Amerigas a chance about 2 years ago because their "teaser rate" was competitive & they could install a large tank faster than anyone else. Their local office reps were super friendly when inking the deal. We had no idea that they would be difficult to deal with after the lock in price expired. Their propane prices spiked & were NOT competitive after the fist year. No one explained their prices would be determined based on "heating season usage" & terms of service changed every time we visited the Amerigas website. Although we haven't incurred other fees yet, there are MANY HIGH FEES one could incur if not careful. Their corporate legal ease is just too much for us. I wanted to replace them but they would not give us a credit for a considerable amount of unused propane (which I believe is common) & their high pick up fees varied based on the amount of propane in the tank. I finally negotiated a somewhat decent propane price with a rep outside my local area for the 2020-2021 heating season. The 10/1 order was not delivered by their stated online promise date so I tried to contact them by phone and email to alert them I couldnt read guage due to condensation. I finally spoke with a rep on Fri eve 10/16 who placed me on hold twice for about 5 minutes each time and then I finally hung up after another 18 minutes hold & their hold music changed thinking I was redirected in their system. I never received a call back or an email from him or the other emails I made since in the last week. over a week ago via email and never heard back from them. Im aware its busy now & I can deal with delivery delays AS LONG AS THERE's COMMUNICATION. Avoid Amerigas. Shop your prices. Chances are you'll find a small friendly local supplier with better rates. Update - i finally received the delivery mid afternoon on 10/22/20. Delivery guys were great. I give them 1 star because the office & central customer service are the worst since the 1st year lock in price expired. read more

After numerous calls I finally got a date of May 11th. Well that day comes and goes and they never showed up nor called!!!! No surprise on their incompetence. So I called them and they said I was back in the queue. I requested a call back with a new date and nothing again. Called again today and still claiming the same thing. No managers to talk to and they can't do anything besides make notes in a system and have the scheduling team call to schedule something. I've been with Amerigas since 2007. They have been great up until February 2021 where I had a small gas leak in one of the tank. They quickly came out and shut the gas tank line and was told they would switch tank out. I use gas to cook, dry clothes and heat my lower level part of my home. I have children to feed and eating out everyday has been very expensive!! I've called multiple times to ask when will they come and swap the tank. I have expressed that I have children to feed and eating out is very very expensive!! It's been 5 weeks!!!! I've called every other day!! They just don't care!! They state in website they are like your family! Family don't treat family this way!!! I'm currently looking for another propane company. read more

I've been promised a delivery for over a month, here it is the day before Thanksgiving, still no delivery and I'm afraid we will run out and can't cook or heat our home. It has been more than a year the tank is still on my property and they are sending me collection notices for a tank rental that I do NOT want. My recommendation is switch to Warner's propane!!! I had been a customer of Amerigas for over 14years and have had problem after problem!!! I finally decided to change companies this past December. We never knew how much we were being overcharged until we switched. I was paying over $600 to fill up my 180 gallon tanks, with Warner's I'm only paying $120. I also paid them extra for amerilock to lock in a rate so they could rip us off even more!!! It's disgusting and totally ridiculous. I will be contacting the BBB. This company is AWFUL.....I work in real estate and constantly am meeting various types of professionals for scheduled turn ons such as water, natural gas and oil deliveries. This company called me the day prior to my scheduled appointment requesting I be there at 8:00 AM the next day. Upon my arrival I waited the first 30 minutes thinking the technician may be running a few minutes late as this understandable and happens from time to time. After waiting nearly 2 hours and 3 seperate phone calls the company is still unable to locate their technician (keep in mind they called me and asked me to be here at 8:00!) As a professional I would strongly recommend any other provider aside from this company! Hope this helps someone! read more

Youch! What a painful experience with AmeriGas. Number one, expensive. EXPENSIVE! Yes, the auto delivery is good, and punctual. Have had several billing problems. This is where the process is unacceptable. We recently relocated, so we called and were offered a price for 3.59 a 'gallon' for our move, we've been customers of AmeriGas since 2002, so this point was odd, I'm currently paying, on budget, 2.37 a gallon. We decided to go with another vendor, so we cancelled our service with AmeriGas. Well, you'd think closing your account, and being told a credit is due, this would end it. Well, no. I should have known that the AutoPay set up would remain until I terminated it. This point was NEVER uttered to us. We assumed that once you close your account, we were done, nope. Just lost my auto pay, and called to get it rectified to have that gem give to me. It turns out, that the billing system, and the local office don't communicate. I would have had to call Corporate to get that done. WHY not TELL me that? So. I call corporate, and get the same "Oh sorry about that." They can not credit my account, which they already drew from, but I have to wait a WEEK for a check to be cut. What year are we in? You can steal my money electrically, but can't return it? My account is over drawn, and they owe me over 600 bucks! AmeriGas is the WORST at customer service, and worse still, billing and accounting. Bye AmeriGas, give me my money! read more

She was quick to offer me a supervisor CANDY (which im sure is her friend) and when speaking to Candy she too was like "yeah ok, uh huh i will talk to her about it". Damn all someone wants is gas. I have had a truly awful experience with AmeriGas. I am a patient and mild-mannered person, but this company's gross incompetence left me no choice but to write this review. It took me forever to simply get to talk to someone who could help me begin the installation process. Several calls by me and probably close to three hours spent on hold. Once I finally was helped, a site visit was set up. I was told that no time window could be given, so that I would need to be at the property from 8am to 4:30pm. As this is not my primary residence, I had to make a special trip to be there by 8am in the morning. If the installation process had gone smoothly, all would have been forgiven, but.... As I sat and waited, no one came and I was given no courtesy call to let me know when they would be arriving. I called at 1pm to check on the status. After another half hour on hold, I was told that I was next on the schedule. And I waited some more. And no one came.... Finally, at 4:30 I called once again to check on the status. No one could tell me why they hadn't showed up and they told me, unbelievably, that the only way they could contact their delivery people in the field was by email! Simply bizarre. I felt sorry for some of the employees I talked to on the phone over my many hours. They told me the company was being reorganized and some people had been falling through the cracks. Honesty is always appreciated. But it's hard to overstate just how awful my experience was. There are many other choices for propane and there's absolutely no reason to choose this company! read more

Amerigas management has treated me dishonestly. The employees are outstanding and forward leaning in all respects. Amerigas management quoted a price in mid-2019 at which they would sell me the buried tank that was on the property I purchased in Dec 2016. The 2019 depreciated tank sell price appeared acceptable, but when I went to actually purchase the tank in Jan 2020, I was informed that there had been an Amerigas change of management and that no one could locate the email or the appended price quote for the tank which I had received from the then Amerigas manager in late summer/early fall of 2019. Amerigas then proceeded to continue to charge their normal excessive price per gallon. I had no choice but to continue to order from them twice last winter as I didn't own the tank and they wouldn't sell it to me. I was only able to afford one tank and a partial fill due to being presently unemployed and a disabled Veteran. I had also suffered a heart attack in Jan 2019 and have a stent, and was last winter on blood thinners so I was even more cold than I would normally have been. Amerigas then saw fit to inform members of my HOA community that they could dig up their own Amerigas tanks if they no longer wanted Amerigas service. The last time I checked the common sense and human decency meter, when you purchase property and some entity owns something they buried on your property and you didn't order it and you don't want it, they do have to exhume such item and at their own expense. I have therefore begun to dig up the Amerigas tank in my yard with a mattocks and a long handle shovel. It's uncertain how long this will take. I called the Amerigas California Call Center yesterday and let them know. read more

I had a contract with Amerigas for my home in Stroudsburg. Multiple years in a row, I have had to call numerous times over multiple weeks to get them to deliver during the winter. We get numerous promises to promptly deliver and they don't deliver. I have run out twice in 2 years because they have not delivered- when the temperatures were below 10 degrees. Their customer service answer : "Just don't use your heater much until the truck shows up"...when the temperatures are 10-15 degrees outside. Horrible company. read more
