The place really should be a historical landmark because of how much it has improved the culture of Gloucester. The owner is known for these incredibly imaginative fashion shows that over the years have raised money for good causes like the restoration of city hall downtown. A long time ago this shop was just another generic hippie new age incense rock shop that sold ugly hippie clothing..and those are a dime a dozen. If that's a kind of shop you prefer, then unfortunately there's a store just like that across from this one. Now this store.. it's magical.. and dazzling..! They still have cool rocks and fossils, but girls behind the counter are so knowledgeable about the origins, meanings, and uses for each stone. They still sell clothes, but it's stylish clothes that are fair trade! Pretty clothes that don't make you look like you fell off a gypsy caravan haha. The back of the store they turned into a wonderful gallery space, with handmade watercolors and oil paintings. They're even creating amazing wire wrapped jewelry! There was a store in Rockport with the flirty seashell captain, but he closed. One of these young ladies worked for him and decided to bring in the same quality shells he had. He told me the gold was not pure…read moreas it was overweight, then said he had it melted down and he would give me a much lower price than the market spot price. There was no paperwork regarding what he said the weight was nor a print report from the smelter, which I asked for. I expected to get the gold back in some form, but he said no and paid me the price I initially paid for it ten years ago. The ounce price is double as of today. My income is way below average, I could have used the spot price for my gold. Many times I've considered if he cheated me and I'm a fool, he did.

When It came time to pick up the rings, the owner had taken my great-grandmother's ring and actually RE-SIZED it and polished it (totally destroying the ring for me and leaving me heart-broken.) He insisted that he only polished it but it was 2 sizes larger! The ring he produced for my husband looked like a cheap store-bought gold band that could have been bought anywhere. I demanded my $500 back for the gold I brought in, which he begrudgingly refunded. I left the store in tears and in an extreme state of anguish.
