Basically the gist I'm getting from their website through my translate app, is that there has been a Wurst stand here since 1916. Maybe not this exact wurst stand, but they are respecting the tradition of this location by serving some of the best wurst in Vienna. Truthfully it was the best I had, including quite a few sit down locations, so I can highly recommend this unassuming sausage stand.
Kasekrainer - cheese sausage, was outstanding and I came back to get a 2nd one a couple of days later. The cheese was nice and melted without oozing all over the place. Their website says something about using a truffle cheese from Kaseland at the Naschmarkt, but I didn't really pick up a truffle flavor, perhaps that's a different specialty sausage. However whatever cheese they used was very tasty.
Burenwurst - I found this sausage a little smokey and full of flavor. My wife preferred this one, and I preferred the cheese sausage. Can't go wrong either way.
Sausages are cut in pieces and served with bread on the side, which is great for sharing and if you are going to be snacking around the Naschmarkt. I never really figured out what the shredded topping was. It was a little crunchy, didn't have that much flavor to it. Maybe shredded radish, but it provided more of a texture than flavor with the sausage.
Anyway this little sausage stand makes a nice 1 2 stop along with Urbanek just around the corner to get your Naschmarket food tour going. Don't miss out, and make sure you stop by for one of the best Kasekrainer in town. read more
