I'm a major craft beer enthusiast and being in Oklahoma City, I'm not familiar with Tulsa's brewery scene, outside those that have wide distribution. I stumbled on Heirloom's "Bronze Age", a Saison, in a store here in OKC and it is amazing. Since we had a short trip to Tulsa already scheduled, we stopped by the brewery to check it out. First, unlike many (most) breweries located where most breweries seem to be, in older areas of large cities, Heirloom has their own parking lot and plenty of parking. As others have mentioned, there was a BBQ food trailer out front, but we had just eaten, so we didn't try that. Upon entering the taproom, the first thing that hit us was the amazing smell of coffee, quickly followed by a friendly greeting from the staff. We sat at the bar and I ordered a flight (Saison, English Mild, Gose & French Ale) and my wife ordered a latte. All four beers were excellent and I tried two more, an American Pale Ale and an IPA, which were also excellent. I finished my wife's latte and it was amazing! Fully equal in quality to the beer. The beer server was very attentive, without being overbearing, and was very helpful in answering all of my questions. I highly recommend Heirloom Rustic Ales to anyone who loves beer. I've tried a lot of craft beer and Heirloom's is truly exceptional in quality. read more

This was our first visit of the day last Saturday on our brewery crawl. The brewery had a nice vibe to it and the staff was super friendly. We didn't get any but there was a BBQ food truck outside and the bbq sure did smell good. Maybe next time I'll try it. read more

This is as local as it gets. Before I went sober, I wasn't big on beer. The only time I'd be quick to try some is if it was local. With that being said, I've tried more than a handful from here & all have been good. Fast forward from then to now, there have been changes such as the addition of coffee being served. That's been major because vendors like Super Secret Donuts, Killer Wail Barbecue, etc have been hosting their services on a consistent basis. Outside of that, to all pizza lovers, Dante's Woodfire pizza is stationed on location & is a MUST have. There are tons of events happening throughout the week as well. Live music, spelling bees, artist markets... you name it. All of the bartenders are friendly & have always been attentive. I always have a great time coming here. read more

This is a review for their coffee concept (Coffee @ Heirloom). Another good coffee option to add to the Tulsa rotation! Quick caveat that they specialize in single origin drip here. I haven't had that yet, but hope to soon which could bump my rating up. So far I've only had iced lattes and matcha lattes here. I like that they have good quality matcha which can be hard to find in Tulsa. They appear to properly strain or at least thoroughly whisk their matcha because mine was not clumpy or grainy at all. Matcha can be an afterthought at a lot of coffee shops- leading to underwhelming quality or preparation, but Heirloom avoids these pitfalls making it one of the top places to get matcha in Tulsa imo. The espresso is fine. It is smooth and not acrid so it hits the mark for me, and tastes somewhat similar to coffee shops like cirque or foolish things. They have some fun rotating seasonal syrups to add to lattes. I haven't been blown away by any of these flavors, but they aren't overly sweet. I tried the apple cinnamon and orange spice in regular lattes and both had the seasonal spiced flavor I was looking for. This summer, I had a sage peach syrup in my matcha. I wish this was more sage forward because I was hoping for a stronger herbal kick. Coffee @ heirloom reminds me a lot of early days Cirque. The branding/illustration on the cups is fun and eye catching. The service is always personable and warm (& you'll be jealous of their outfits which are always amazing). The one downside of coffee @ heirloom for me is in the ambience. I love heirloom's interior for a brewery, in the evening. But, during the day, the building has really large windows that let in almost too much light. For reference, I've seen people pin up jackets along the windows to try to create shade so the sun doesn't beat down on them while they're sitting. To me, the ideal way to use this coffee shop is to grab a coffee to go, maybe grab something from one of the food trucks outside, quickly check out some of the vendors they often have inside the building on weekends, and then head out to explore other neighborhood shops. I don't think the vibe is ideal if you want to have a longer sit down hangout or do work. This not being the ideal "sit down and savor" ambience is probably why I haven't gotten their speciality drips because I tend to choose single origin drip when I can sit down and really enjoy the flavor. That's not to say there's anything directly wrong about the set up they have, just that the vibe here is a little different than a traditional coffee shop. As the name suggests this is more of a coffee pop up at a brewery than a coffee shop. To take advantage of the set up- I recommend taking your coffee to go and enjoying the neighborhood. This is located on admiral in the Kendall Whittier neighborhood, which makes the coffee a great first stop before hitting the many small businesses in the area. (I recommend any of the small vintage clothing shops & Addis ceramics). This place certainly has its own niche and well earned following in the Tulsa coffee scene. We have been going to this brewery this year and loving it. They are a smaller brewery than Cabin Boy or Solera but they offer some pretty good beer and have both in and outdoor seating. Service is stellar. It has an Austin vibe to it. Our favorite is called Morning Devotion, it is a Milk Stout brewed with Cirque Cold Brew and Supermarket Cinnamon. I actually than it has a decent Asian flair profile (sesame) to it. It makes your BBQ taste better but also enjoyable by itself. Another dark beer called Nightjar is also pretty tasty. It's brewed with specialty dark malts and Czech Saaz hops. If you a coconut lover, you will like Coconut Telegraph, it's a Blonde Ale conditioned on nicely toasted coconut. What can I say....I still love this place. Service has always been great and the bar staff are always knowledgeable and friendly. The last time we were there we did NOT want to leave. The food truck out front, Doctor Kustom, smelled delicious and there was a great looking band setting up. Unfortunately, we had dinner reservations elsewhere. I love everything about Heirloom! The space itself is super cool. The murals outside are a great spot to take pics. Love the plants outside and there's plenty of street parking around the area. Inside, it is very spacious and it is great for big groups or even events. The decoration is minimal and industrial. Whoever is responsible for it has a great eye for design. My favorite wall has a bunch of hanging plants and the lights on the ceiling on top of the bar are super cool. I absolutely love that it is dog-friendly too! On any given day you can find cute puppies hanging out. Also, they just got done putting the final details on their patio right behind the building and it is AMAZING! Once the weather improves it will be a great hang out spot. As far as beer goes, they have an amazing selection! My favorite is their winter kolsch. They have yummy goodies from the BakeShop too in case you want to munch on something. They have 32 ounce cans you can take home. Beer options for cans change weekly. They offer event space rental as well for any occasion or meeting ranging from $1000 to $2000 depending on the day, space (taproom or brewery), and the time you want (up to 4 hours). The fees include cost of onsite beer consumption. Finally, I absolutely have to mention the Think & Drink events they host with the STEMcell Science Shop. I have attended three of them and they're brilliant. They bring experts on a specific topic (fossils, marihuana, clilmate change, etc.) and you get to listen to them while you enjoy a drink. That's what school should be like...Hope they do them again this year! read more

Really, really liked the decor and feel of this place. Felt super local, very authentic, and quite dog-friendly--almost everyone who came in while we were there had a dog with them. A few of the pups even trotted over to our corner to say hi. Our kinda place for sure! Oh and the beers, can't forget the beers. All solid, well-made stuff. You can tell they care about what they're putting out for people to sip on. Started with a Beach IPA and then had a Sumac Saison. Enjoyed how flavorful each one was and that they were also super drinkable. Their other flavors all sounded good too and we would've stayed for more if it wasn't the third brewery stop of the day. And like most of the breweries we visited in Tulsa, I could definitely see myself coming here on a regular basis if we lived in the area. read more

I would give 5 stars but the smell is so overwhelming! I know all breweries may have a stinch to them due to the ingredients and the brewing process, but dang! This one is bad. Absolutely beyond impressed with what they've done with this place. The decor is perfect, and the beers were all excellent. Plains and Caves were probably my favorites. High Violet had a gorgeous color with just subtle hints of a sour, also very good. Mr Nice Guys food truck (one of my favorites) was onsite, and they provided the perfect mac n cheese snack to go with my beer. I noticed the garage door on the south side of the building, which will be great when the season is right. I think there are rules about outdoor seating at breweries, but I'm hoping that's in the works for the future! read more

Some of the primary flavors from beer comes for the yeast a brewer uses. Heirloom is known for using some funkier types of yeast, which leads to some interesting flavored beers. We got a flight of beers and for super craft beer enthusiasts, these were a bit hard to finish. The Beach IPA had a weird tang along with the hops that made it difficult to drink more than an ounce. The British lager with coffee was like drinking a sour cold brew. The best one we ordered was the stout with Oreos. Not the best stout, but still decent. This wasn't the style of beers for us, but still a cool taproom and glad we went out to try. read more

I really like this place. It's the first brewery in town so far that has made a concerted effort to be on the higher end of things, at least in terms of decor. The inside of this place is very nice, very comfortable, welcoming. It obviosly has a major female influence which quite frankly I find refreshing. Haven't done a tour yet so I can't speak to their brewery layout. I've had a number of their offerings so far and a couple of them do leave an impression. Black Cauldron and Subgenre are two that I def get when I am there. A flight of 5 costs $16 and considering how much you get it is not a bad deal. Love their bison logo and I hope they get more merchandise with the bison on it. I'm looking forward to their future offerings and I love the fact you can get crowlers there. read more

Great beers! The space is awesome and outside seating is a plus when the weather is nice. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. If they were only open past 9p on the weekends, I'd be there even more regularly. The only negative I can think of is the name (rustic ales? really? are they distressed? does the brewing process feature reclaimed barn wood?) but, the beer is good so it doesn't really matter what it's called. I mean, I drink Moose Drool, so... **EDIT- Thankfully they rotate food trucks during the weekends so one has a better than 0% chance of being able to get a vegan thing. Do check first though.** The food truck they have on the weekends, T0asty Pr0s, is not so helpful or willing to engage vegans, even in conversation. Their attitude is that one can accept a pile of warm veggies or move along. They weren't really clear about veganism as they assured me their goat cheese and pesto were vegan. So, I dunno if even their bread is or not. I stopped talking with them as they were clearly agitated by my inquiries. I am not a Beer Drinker so this review is probably not going to be worth much LOL. I do have to say I was kind of bummed because they didn't really have a sour. Sours and fairly trendy so I had hoped that they would. They may have one now and I would love to go back and try it. Again I say this as a non Beer Drinker but I just wasn't inspired by anything I tried. It all kind of tasted the same. I am trying to open up my palate to new things so I will definitely go back to this place and I'm hoping that I will find something there that I love. With a great atmosphere and great beer, Heirloom is one of my favorite places in Tulsa. This place is unlike any other brewery that I have ever been to. There is plenty of room to come and hang with friends, and with a wall full of beers on tap, you are sure to find something for everyone. I really love the way that Heirloom looks aesthetically, and on nice days, the doors will be open to let a nice breeze in. I came with a group of friends and we really enjoyed our time at Heirloom. The atmosphere alone is worth a trip. Laid back, spacious area with optional garage doors that will be amazing in summer. It's a great mix of modern and rustic and the plant wall is beautiful. They sell 14 and 5 oz pours and offer some 32 oz cans for takeout. A variety of 12 beers on tap. The Sticky Bottles was delicious. Had a local food truck outside and some baked goods at the counter. Great decor! Can't believe the woodwork. Nice bathrooms. The descriptions of the beers are good for a night's entertainment by themselves: "possible moments of nostalgia to expect while consuming might include: waffle cones as respirator masks." We really loved the Under His Eye and Barking Water. Great beers. Didn't fill our growler, though: the prices were a little more steep than we would like. We went about 7:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy but it wasn't awkwardly empty like you might expect at such a parents-night-out-gotta-be-back-at-the-church-by-9-but-it's-the-only-chance-we'll-get-to-get-out-and-pretend-we're-hip-...AtABarBefore8pm kind of hour. It was getting more crowded as we left & seemed to attract clientele who appreciate "words" such as "kefir," "beard conditioner," "adulting," "postmodern AF," "rustic midcentury," "turnt," "icymi," & "totes adorbs" but there were also family groups there introducing ol' mom and pops to the hip beer scene. Went during their grand opening and of course it was packed. Had many of their beers on tap and they were all very solid beers. It's not in the best area of town but glad to have another option in Tulsa. We aren't ones to typically let location stop us from getting to good beers. Looking forward to trying more. They offer crowlers & tasters. Even when they were slammed, service was good. read more

On a recent trip to Tulsa on a Monday I found this was one of the few breweries open on Monday. The other thing that was wonderful was it is less than 1/2 mile from El Rio Verde Restaurant where we always eat when in Tulsa. We ordered a flight of 5 and loved them all and ordered full pours of a couple of others. While at the bar I overheard the bartender mention Zack. I knew Zack when he was in OKC and participated in a couple of early Coop Ale Works anniversary parties sampling his really good sour ales. Talk about luck, I had heard he had opened a brewery in Tulsa but to stumble on to it and so close to my favorite restaurant. These are right off the highway so be sure to stop if your lucky enough to be in the area, you want be disappointed. read more
