We went to go get some houseplant supplies, they had a ton of options in stock. Prices seemed reasonable to me.

Watson's Greenhouse and Nursery

Watson's has just opened up, and still has a little construction going on, they are woking hard…read more The people working there are really nice and offer good educational tips. I'm told that they will be having a Grand opening soon and will offer workshops and classes. They have a good selection, especially of "bare root" trees ( which they potted in big peat pots that can go right on the ground). When I looked at the fruit trees and figured the cost of pots, trees, and soil, it's a really good buy.

This is a tough one to review. The Puyallup location is the flagship and the focus of the…read moremanagement's attention - it is beautiful. Overall, the prices are very high, with large markups. But if you can hit their sales, then you get a semi-fair price. The thing that gets me is how they treat their employees and the community around them. Watsons does NOT support the Olympia community. Sure, they want your money and the sales (who wouldn't?). However, they not only churn through staff like a barbaric meat-grinder (they are horrible to work for!), but they do NOT support LGBTQ+ whatsoever - which is something Olympia cannot back. For those reasons, I can never support Watson's (especially the current CEO, Maidee, and her curated inner circle) or ever encourage anyone to purchase from them. After all, they purchase from the same growers that the other nurseries purchase from (and just mark up the prices higher!). The exception is the houseplants they truck in by the truckloads from FL a few times a year. The big box stores get better deals from better growers in a lot of things as well -- because they have buying power. But all the competition in the area purchases from the very same growers and sales reps. Watch out for bugs on the plants - especially houseplants. They do not do a great job checking for infestations when bringing plants in from FL(it's doubtful they even check at all...). All in all, because of the lack of integrity and values from the leads/owners, I cannot support this company. I had hoped they would be a brilliant addition to Oly -- sadly, I do not believe they are. Too bad - Oly would have flocked to a place that was safe for ALL Olympia to gather, celebrate and spend money.

I've always liked this place. I think the no-nonsense name of the place is pretty on brand with…read morethe whole experience. It's very no frills, all outdoors, all about the plants, all super fair prices. If you want five sales people to be all in your face, or a sales person to "check on you" as if you are a child, this is not the place for you. It's like a plant lover introvert's heaven. You can just walk through outdoor greenhouse after greenhouse, and you are surrounded by all the plants. There is just SO much. There's maybe 20-40 of every plant, all on one grouping, so you can really peruse and get a good sense of the vibe of a given type of plant, if you are woo-woo like that, which I am. :-) There are signs to give you the essential facts of each plant, plus of course you can hop on the internet w/your cell phone and research more as you wish. There are sales people but they are few and far between which is just the way I want it. If I want help I can find someone, but mostly I want to peruse and make up my own mind. Once you know what you want you put it onto a dolly and bring it to the main building by the parking and entrance & you pay. Easy peasy. I'm sure if what you're getting was too big for you to get onto a dolly yourself they'd help. They have lots of trees and bigger things too. I heard ever since the pandemic this giant location has been open to both wholesale and retail customers, so you can disregard that ancient review saying this location was only wholesale. Now this giant location is their only location. (The photos from a yelper from 2019 are of the smaller location they no longer have.) The prices shown are wholesale but you just add 35% or whatever in your mind. The prices even with the retail markup are way cheaper than I've found in any other area nursery, which is probably he biggest reason I keep coming back. Also you can look up plant availability online on their website. Their list is not perfectly accurate or guaranteed, like they could have fewer of a plant than the list says, but it's a definite plus since I like to sit at home and research different plant varieties and plan. I don't know of any other area nursery that offers an online plant inventory list.

How is it that I didn't know of this amazing nursery in Tumwater?! They not only had multiple of the specific plant my friend had been searching for, they have a massive selection! So many greenhouses...so many plants, trees, and bushes! We were helped by Erica who impressively knew where to find every plant in that massive place and had extensive knowledge. And now I have a new favorite nursery to introduce my friends to. Thank you Erica for your help! We both spent more than we had planned and we had a blast doing so!

We were very happy to discover Puget Sound Plants. They have an exceptional selection of plants,…read moreflowers and trees spread throughout dozens of greenhouses and grounds. All of their plants are very healthy & robust. They transplanted well and are thriving in our garden. Note that this is a wholesale nursery, so don't expect the same service you get in a retail nursery, where often they will escort you around and help with selections. At a Puget Sound Plants you get a map and they will tell you where to find the plants you're seeking. You go gather them and bring to the office (or a worker will bring them for you), where they are tallied up and you get the total bill. My only frustration is not knowing owing how much the plants cost until you go to pay. It would be nice to have a price list or a QR code to find prices. However, we got a great selection of plants for our new garden and all were so nice we are happy. The most expensive was a small Japanese Maple that was $175. I suggest you bring a list of what you want and ask the office for the location and prices before you go. If you then spot other items you want, you'll have a decent idea of the cost.
