Visited Heera recently while visiting Akron. When I arrived, the establishment was empty. I was told to sit wherever I wanted and then I was given a menu. I noticed they had a curried chicken wrap, which is something I've never had, but I felt would be delicious. So I requested it. I also requested somosas. A short time later, the somosas were delivered along with two sauces, one sweet and one bitter. I enjoyed the sweet red sauce. A few minutes later, the wrap was delivered along with some waffle fries. The wrap was warm and delicious. One would think other restaurants would steal this simple curried chicken wrap recipe. A curried chicken wrap wouldn't be that hard to make, but it was absolutely delicious. The fries were crispy and delicious. An excellent meal and I will return. read more

This place is still the best for Indian food. Consistent 100/10 service here. Came for a Saturday late lunch, and the place was pretty busy! Had a few take out orders come through while we waited for our food. I always get the same thing but the chef gave us a complimentary Kadi Pakoda sauce (dairy/yogurt dip with spices). Super tasty! We will have to order it next time. It tasted exceptional with the garlic naan, like the perfect pairing. Place is always clean, and has a warm and cozy home feeling. Excellent local Indian restaurant in downtown Akron! Very nice and helpful staff. They were able to answer our menu questions. The food is freshly prepared with very fresh ingredients. I noticed that the restaurant was also doing a very good job of keeping up with take out orders while taking care of guests dining in. The meat was very tender and seasoned perfectly. Quiet, calm, and clean but could use a bit of updating. The service was fast and the server was polite and friendly. A bit of a language barrier but we were able to overcome this. The food...AMAZING!!! I wish I lived closer so I could try more items. The menu was quite large, so surely anyone could find something. While in the area I scoped out an Indian restaurant to try, not quite knowing what to expect for Northeast Ohio. Heera was our pick and I enjoyed the food quite a bit. We started with the vegetable bhajji which was crispy and offered a nice variety of vegetables including deliciously sweet bites of onion that were great with the cool green chutney. For my entree I ordered the chicken kadhai. The gravy had long-simmered flavor and I liked the bursts of flavor that the more coarsely ground spices imparted. The white meat chicken itself was a bit overcooked and stringy sadly. The lachha paratha were a treat to accompany the dish. They seemed to be in a Northern style- not particularly buttery and some flavor of the atta came through in them. Very tasty! I ordered the chicken kadhai with medium spice and found the heat pleasant though more on the mild side of medium compared to other Indian spots. read more

We got take out from here. I loved walking in and seeing the Indian movie (my boyfriend was insistent it was a music video) on the tv. Why are Masala fries my new favorite thing?! Around 845pm on a Thursday night I had a taste for something different. Heading home at the light from the corner of my eye I seen a restaurant sign it was a Indian restaurant. I had to make a quick right then another right through a parking lot (E.Market St stay busy) There's literally no parking I guess in the back but it's all boarded up and lighting isn't the greatest.... So I had my daughter go in to look at menu. (I stayed in car with her 3 month old daughter) The waiter was extremely nice and knowledgeable. I already knew I wanted the samosas but undecided on meal how he described the food I felt fearless I tried something new And let me tell you it was sooooo good!! Don't let the simple storefront fool you into thinking that the food is nondescript. It's a delight. We dine here once a month after visiting the Akron Art Museum, trying something different each time. Today I had tofu dosas, which was served with a light lentil soup. Sooo delicious. My kids took me here for Mothers Day. We ordered our entrees, apps, and three kinds of naan. Everything we had was amazing. Not at all fancy and service on styrofoam but the food just was perfection. We all had leftovers to take home. We loved everything and will be back. The server was so nice and at the end the cook came out and talked with us. I highly recommend you stop in or order to go. This was our first time and overall the food was a wonderful experience. I had aloo gobi. The cauliflower and potatoes were cooked nicely! The spice level was just right. We ordered saag daal and it was slightly spicy for mild, but it was cooked well. No hard or mushy daal. I am a vegetable biryani fan, so I always order it from Indian restaurants. We ordered from here on a Monday evening after having some difficulty finding other Indian restaurants open. We ordered the chicken tikka masala spice level 2 and the chicken vindaloo spice level 3 with garlic naan. Parking is available behind the building, as the entrance is right off the main road and there is no parking there. The inside has a few tables and is not a fancy restaurant - it appears to be more designed for take out, but what is lacks in ambiance it makes up for in taste. The smells coming out of that kitchen - wow! Our order was ready on time and sent home with TONS of rice. I appreciated that they sent the sauces is plastic containers with lids so they did not leak in my car. The naan was soft and delicious and a large portion. My husband enjoyed the vindaloo but didn't think the spice level was a true medium. We both agreed the chicken tikka masala was the star of the show. So comforting, creamy, and delicious - maybe the best tikka sauce I have ever tasted. We are already talking about going back. It's going to be hard to try other dishes since I enjoyed this one so much. For locals who work in the area, this would be an excellent lunch option. We relished the food we had ordered from the recently opened restaurant. The crew's exceptional service and prompt delivery of mouth-watering dishes made us happy. We had to wait for our drinks but it's because their (only) server had to multitask quite a bit. We devoured all the delectable items we had ordered, leaving little to no leftovers. Among all the dishes, my personal favorites were the Samosa Chaat and Indo-Chinese Gobi Manchurian with cauliflower. Oh, and their Chicken Tika Masala sauce was scrumptious. You are going to have to drive past a couple of times to find it, then park in back, plenty of space, then figure out the entrance is inside behind a doorway, but it's worth it. You then need to overlook the overall shabby,(BUT CLEAN) appearance. The owner is polite and charming and a wonderful host. The chef came out during our meal to see if we were enjoying it, ask the spice was right. THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC!!! The rice is done to perfection with I believe the wonderful scent of cardamom. The chicken appetizer was to die for. We had the eggplant Bahrani with peas, and a vegetable korma. We ordered both the plain/butter naan, and the Rosemary naan. The best Indian food that I have had in a long time! Very pleased to have such tasty fare so near. We had the malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, and paneer kadhai. First time eating here so started with two mild dishes and one medium so we could gauge the heat. One of the milds was a little more spicy than "American mild". So something to consider as you gauge it yourself. All were amazing. The naan was well prepared. As were the samosas. We got two desserts as well, including the kheer, which was amazing. My meal if Tandoori Chicken was very good. However, the interior of this establishment needs to be cleaned. I have never understood why a food establishment doesn't think that cleaning the dirt from the doors, walls, and windows isn't and important part of the patron's experience.
