Another job well done they are very tender and just the way I like it.

I ordered a small tip. The tips were cut perfectly as I always ask the guy behind the counter to do. I got home and ate my tips and found they were super tender and delicious. I love hickeys tips.

Hecky's was a phenomenal place to choose for our Black History Month celebration! From beginning to end Cheryl was a gem to work with! She was able to provide recommendations and help me with a menu! The food arrived timely, it's was enough for the staff and they all wanted seconds! Thank you Heckys for providing such a great experience! Look forward to working with Cheryl in the future! Brandi - Encompass Health

I was greeted by a really nice person behind the counter. They quickly took my order of small rib tips and small fries. They have a super small patio for 2 people. There isn't a dining area so once, I received my order and I took it home. (15 minutes drive). It was plenty warm when I got home. As I sat down to eat the small is actual filling. The tips were meaty and tender, I asked for the hot bbq sauce, even though it not super spicy, it has some nice heat. The fries were good dipped in the bbq sauce. I wish the bbq sauce was spicier.

I love the idea of a place like this that's been in business so long and it's an institution. But there were a few glaring things that irked me. The brisket was very nicely crusted. The fatty side was much better than the underside but without adding sauce, it was quite dry. The sauce was delicious. Both regular and spicy versions were excellent. Slaw was good. Didn't taste homemade but worth it. No pickles available. The corn muffins- OMG- DON'T order these! Dry and like powder. These were beyond disappointing and we threw them away after one bite. I almost couldn't swallow the small piece even with butter on it. Sad. Chicken hot link- mostly hot, not flavorful. Very dry. I'd take a pass. I've had the pork ones and they are good. I wanted beef ribs but not available today. Pork ribs must be the thing here but my wife doesn't eat them so we had other things. Next time I'll eat pork ribs in the car. Although this is an icon in the Chicago area, I really think it's my last visit.

    Any gluten free options?

Things like the cole slaw and greens would obviously be gluten free, but I would recommend you calling the restaurant and asking. They are very friendly and will be happy to answer any questions you have.

This is the flagship location which is being converted into a full restaurant. On this occasion there was inside dining and some outside dining available. We ordered inside and then our food was brought outside. We got the meat sample and the side samplers. Both were tasty. My favorites were the brisket, cornbread, apple slaw with the pulled pork and even the Mac and Cheese was hitting. The spice on the gumbo was good but I needed the temperature to be hotter. I will say that was only negative feedback, I felt the food was not warm enough. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the service. We were pleasantly surprised by the craft cocktails and wine available for purchase. The craft cocktails are really delicious and couldn't believe that you get a little bit bang for your buck. Again, I would highlight the flavor on the meat. The brisket didn't need anything to be added to it. I also enjoyed the smoked jalapeño sausage. A special bonus is that they sold Brown Sugar bakery cake. We got the caramel cake and it was good. Next time I'm getting my own slice of cake and I am not sharing half with my husband because I only ended up getting one/fourth of the cake.

I also ordered a side of cole slaw and red beans and rice. The guy behind the counter said they don't have mild sauce for the chicken. Then he told me the sauces that they had, so I said no sauce. I guess he was also relating the sauces for the rib tips when I already said no sauce. They cook the chicken fresh and may take a little time. When I got home, I was ready to dig in but I found out the sauce discussion left my rib tips with no bbq sauce. I called them and a nice lady told me I would be taken care of the next time, I visit. Thank goodness, I had bbq sauce. But I tried the tips without sauce and they were seasoned well. I put on some Sweet Baby Rays on them and dang it was good. The tips were tender and a lot of meat. The chicken was so good that I wish I would have gotten more. It was seasoned and crunchy. The Cole slaw was okay and the red beans and rice was good, just which it had a little more pot liquor. I would definitely go back. Also the prices that they have online is really outdated.

I ordered the jerk chicken quesadillas which came with a standard red salsa, an attempt at crema (which seemed more like watered down sour cream) and a more spicy hot green salsa. I paid $8.99 and it was well worth it regardless of the cream. The quesadillas were a nice mix of chicken, beans, roasted corn and rice. I did not see lettuce and tomato as the menu stated. As an experienced diner I look for appropriate portions and this was perfect. The building is owned and ran by the City of Evanston. There is plenty of seating and rotating art exhibits to enjoy with the option to rent event space. I imagine such great things for this building...I hope they come to fruition. Why 3 stars? Simply put cleanliness, the front door was greasy when I opened it and the counter had some type of fluid smeared on it (soda perhaps). I'm not too picky tho cuz I still ate there and I'm glad I did.

Stacked unapologetically high, this burger is everything you want and more: juicy, perfectly seared patties layered with melty cheese, crispy bacon, and those golden, crunchy fried onions that take it completely over the top. Every bite is rich, savory, and just messy enough to remind you you're eating something seriously good. The toasted bun somehow holds it all together (barely), soaking up every bit of flavor without getting lost in the chaos. And then... the shoestring fries. Thin, crispy, golden perfection--light but addictive, with that ideal crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one (or ten). They're the kind of fries you keep reaching for without even realizing it, especially dipped in that creamy, tangy sauce on the side. And let's not forget the drinks--just as good as the food. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the kind you sip slow while taking it all in (but somehow they disappear way too fast). It's not just a burger--it's one of Chicago's most iconic bites for a reason. Bold, indulgent, and absolutely worth every single napkin you'll need after. The ambiance inside is GORGEOUS!

Loved the 90s female R&B playlist they had going! Little Bad Wolf has been on my list FOR YEARS to try the burger! My husband got the burger with fried onions and I got some Bao because those also looked delicious and were a popular menu item. Honestly the 3 stars are only that high because of the service. Our server was friendly and attentive + the food came out hot and quick. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The burger was swimming in a puddle of grease and just picking it up made your hands greasy + was dripping grease. The fries that came with it were floppy, soggy, and sad...but at least warm? I personally wouldn't order this again. The Bao were better, but small for the price and honestly were just okay? It was nice they gave you sauces you could add, but I found the Bao's to already have enough sauce so I didn't need them. Overall I left feeling confused and disappointed. I don't feel the need to come back here - Little Bad Will was a one and done experience for me.
