Matt and his 'crew' helped renovate a neglected (inherited) home - as I lived in California and not on site. As a former real estate broker, I have never enjoyed such integrity from a construction vendor. His fairness, his rapid response, his problem solving and genuine decency surprised me for four months. I cannot recommend this man and his tream more! Absolutely the best. Deep experience. I wish he were in the Bay Area where I live - but the Seattle area is the lucky place. Seek his work with confidence. read more

Didn't even show up for the initial assessment. Why would we even consider your business for our project if you refuse to show up on time, at all or even respond when we reach out asking if you are coming? Very poorly handled business. Don't waste your time . read more

We needed some painting done on our house to prep it for listing. Matt's team did a great job and there was excellent communication on any issues or clarifications needed to the SOW. We really appreciate their professionalism and the high quality of work that was performed. read more

It's really tough to pay a lot of money for a project I could have done better myself. Here's how it went down for us: - The bidding process was great. Matt came out and assessed the space and wrote up a great professional bid. - The start of the day was shaky. They said they'd be at our place at 7am. No dice. I called the company. They gave me the number for the painter, and he said "you didn't answer your door, so we went to go get coffee." (Note: It is possible we didn't hear the doorbell, but they did not take the initiative to ring the bell again or call us!) By the time they returned it was nearly 8am. - They dinked around while doing the prep. I came down to check at 10 and 11 and they hadn't really done anything. - Then they took a really long lunch break. - And suddenly they were "done" at 2pm. I could see that the light blue we had before was keeping our white from being crisp. They painted over holes that they weren't supposed to. (They told us to keep the hardware in on anything we wanted to keep, but they painted over those anyway.) Their lines weren't crisp and we can see blue lines around everything. Matt wasn't on our job; it was his team. I wonder if he needs to be there for the job to be more diligent and go well. In our case, it was just bad. read more

This is for an exterior paint job on our house. First thing, they did an excellent job. The owner and admin: Matt and Sequoia were great and easy to work with. Matt came to give us the quote and talked about what they do and why. He was very patient with any questions we had. We felt his quote was fair and in market range based on the 3 other bids we were considering. Ultimately our decision to go with Heck Painting was based on working with Matt, the high Yelp reviews, and the knowledge that a good company stays around long enough to back their work.. Pre-painting: We had initially scheduled this job for the end of last summer but the weather made for unfavorable painting conditions. They only had time to complete the pressure washing and priming. Our window trim was in really bad shape so during the pressure washing a lot of it flaked off, more than I think they expected and so there was a lot of flakes on the ground. We checked in with them and they promptly took care of the matter. They moved us to the top of the list for this Spring and then COVID hit so they communicated with us the revised schedule based on the recovery phases. Once they were able to start they did another pressure wash, a little lighter this time to get any winter grime/pollen. This was good as it assured the paint has a clean surface to adhere to. The paint crew: Jason and Aliazar communicated when they would arrive at the job site and were prompt if not early. They worked together as a team and made great progress, touching base about the schedule and what was going to be worked on next. They did an excellent job of masking surfaces to avoid over spray and would lay down tarps where needed. They clearly knew what they were doing and very knowledgeable about painting. Once they started they were able to complete the work in the allotted time. We decided to replace our front porch awning versus painting it so they had no problems with adjusting the quote. We really love the new look of the house and are confident that this is a look we will last a long time. You won't go wrong with Heck Painting and they do more than just painting so they are now at the top of my list for any home improvement projects. read more

Matt and his team were tops. They came and did a walk through last summer to do a complete external paint job on our 1930's craftsman. He actually told us that we could wait another year, even though we were prepared to go through with it that summer. He worked with us to clean up the house and do a few emergency repairs, which turned out well, with a few issues (door that needed to be rehung was hung incorrectly, and some paint was showing some sort of pigment seepage. We didn't have them fix it though since they were coming back to do a complete paint job this summer. They were really flexible with a last minute reschedule from us, and when they started the paint job, were ready to fix the areas of concern from last summer. Omar & his crew were great...very respectful of the house, and extreme professionals. They were there when they said they'd be there, and finished when they said they would. They contacted us about a few minor tweaks to the job, and fixed a few sections of rotted out wood beautifully. All in all, house is better than new. I'd recommend Matt & his team to anyone. We did not get any other quotes, but felt very comfortable that the amount quoted & charged were very competitive and fair. read more

Heck Painting does a great job painting homes. Interior, exterior, it doesn't matter. They are the type of outfit you call when you want the job done right the first time. If you want to try to save money doing it yourself, or hiring the guys at Home Depot, you are probably best going that route. If you want a professional job, at a fair price, by someone who stands behind the work of his crew, give Matt Heck at Heck painting a call. read more

We were moving to our next space and this time, I decided we needed a stellar paint job. Money was an object, but I was more interested in a beautiful final product than in saving a few pesos. We found Heck Painting on Yelp, were impressed with the reviews and decided to get a quote. No, it wasn't cheap but Matthew Heck really made me feel confident that the final result would be worth it. Matthew managed the project and to end, and made sure I was thrilled with the results. And thrilled I am. The color is smooth, the edges are razor sharp and the extras Matt gave us (caulk for the baseboards, a wall flaws repaired) are greatly appreciated. Heck, yeah! Exquisite results from this small, local company. read more

Matt Heck and his team are consummate professionals. Not only did they did the job appropriately but they were able to complete the job in a timely fashion and to my exacting perfectionist standards. In addition there was quite a good deal of siding and wood that needed to be replaced and Matt's carpentry skills were far more than adequate. They painted my entire roof and stained my deck and painted my shed. I could not have asked for a better group of guys. They were friendly and respectful and totally trustworthy. I will definitely hire them again. If you are thinking about having your house painted you cannot go wrong. My only advice is that you get on their schedule early because guys like this get busy because they are awesome. read more

Excellent service with High Quality work I couldn't be more pleased with Heck painting. Matt, the owner, was professional, organized and honest. I initially hired them to paint our interior but went ahead and hired them to paint the exterior because I didn't want to work with anyone else. The team was conscientious and my neighbors even commented on their friendliness and cleanliness. I'll recommend them to all my friends! read more

These guys are amazing! From start to finish they were professional, prompt and super detail oriented. I had a quick turn interior painting job to get done before moving into a new home, and Matt was able to work with me to squeeze it into their calendar. Matt came over to provide an initial assessment, and took the time to walk through every room and closet and provide a really detailed estimate on time needed. I had a paint selected that he thought might show up too dark, and recommended I go at a 50% lighter tint. I followed his advice and am so glad I did - the place looks amazing and feels light and spacious. Jason helped to paint the space, and he was in constant phone/text communication to provide status updates, and ask me questions on how I wanted certain things done. I'd also had the carpet pulled up in the bedrooms and the floors underneath redone, which left the trim in bad shape. Jason was able to replace and paint the trim as well, which I appreciated greatly. Now that I'm in my home, I'm catching all of these crazy details they didn't miss, like removing all of the light switch/outlet plates and painting behind them, and pulling out the stove and fridge to paint behind the appliances. I would recommend Matt and his team in a heartbeat, and will be coming back to them in the summer next year when I paint the exterior of my house. read more

I called Heck, because of the great reviews, and it seemed that they would be a reasonably priced company. I can not comment on the quality of their work, which must be great, according to the other reviews. However, for the price that you pay, it must be nothing short of impeccable. Very expensively priced, and the estimator that came to my house tried to fool me into taking more services, which I may have, if I wasn't an art student, and was unfamiliar with paint. I had less than one room worth of painting to be done, the estimator told me it would be an all-day job and $800. Umm, No. I'll rent a ladder from Aurora rents, and finish the job myself, for 30 bucks. Are they serious? The job 4 hrs max, would have worked out to $200 an hour? Who in the heck deserves to make that? Oh wait.... read more

Used Heck Painting for a large interior paint job. Beautiful work and good integrity.

I'm writing this review 3 years after we used Matt's company for popcorn ceiling removal, painting interior of our home and a few years later, treatment and painting of our exterior. They also did all he fencing and outdoor trellising. I can't say enough about Matt's professionalism, honesty, price and workmanship. We are amazed at the quality of the Heck Painting work, specially the millwork upstairs, what a difference it makes! Thank you for taking such great care. Our home looks amazing, and we really really appreciate the whole team working so hard to meet the deadline, and yet still doing the work so well! Matt is really nice to work with, and goes the extra 10 miles to make us happy! read more

We hired this company to paint all the walls, trim and ceilings on the first floor of our house. There was a slight mix up regarding which white was used for our trim but Heck painting went out of their way to make it right with us. Heck Painting is our go to painting company. We have worked with them several times because we know they will do a great job. Matt is very professional and responsive to all of our requests. They do have a higher price point, but it's because they do high quality work. They have painted the interior and exterior of our personal house and done the interior of a couple of our rentals. They also built our fence. Highly recommend! read more

This is my affirmation to Heck Painting about the job they just completed for us. Our house needed exterior painting. They did a wonderful job and the new look is beautiful. This is the second time we hired them to paint our home. The painters had to deal with some rainy days but they persevered and painted on days they could. Each evening they cleaned up and left things well organized for their work to begin the next morning. The fresh, new paint has made our home look beautiful again! These painters do a skillful job. We are very satisfied with the quality of their work. Heck Painting will get the job again the next time it's needed. Thank you from both of us. read more

Well I see I reviewed Heck painting in 2014 when they did my house. This year 2018 they painted the inside of my office building. I have to say the quality of work from this company is extremely good. The attention to detail is refreshing. Matt comes out and gives the bids, very professional, then he starts the job with his crew. On my particular job he was there to prep everything and then after the painters finished put everything back. I am very happy with Heck painting and I would definitely recommend them on any job. read more

We just had Heck Painting in to do several rooms in our home on Mercer Island. They were fantastic! I originally found Matt and team on Yelp and called him to come out and take a look at what needed doing. Matt gave me a very thorough estimate that was competitive and down to the penny. He was very easy to work with on setting up a time, and gave extremely detailed notes to Jason on his team, who did the actual work. Jason was very talented and a real pleasure to have in our home and get to know. So professional. We look forward to a deck re-surfacing with them next summer. I would recommend Heck Painting to anyone and everyone. We moved into a home that had not been painted or treated in at least 20 years and so the exterior paint was in very poor condition. Matt gave me a bid that came in at half, at the most, of what other painting contractors wanted. Even though he and his crew put in many more hours and materials than they had bid due to the condition of the house, Matt never wavered from his original bid or negotiated for more money. His employees even helped us bring in luggage when we returned from a vacation. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE QUALITY OF HECK PAINTING'S WORK IS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! Matt kept us informed and updated through the whole process. He is a great guy. HIRE HIM! read more

We called for an estimate to paint the interior of our house and got a call back the next day to schedule an appointment. Even though it's a painter's busiest time of year, Matt managed to work us in for the estimate five days later. He took his time walking through our house and asked perceptive questions about the unusual aspects of our painting project. What really amazed us was the quick turnaround time on the estimate: he e-mailed it to us later that same evening. The estimate was detailed and clearly laid out. It was also within $500 of the lowest estimate we received. We would have selected him for the job except for the fact that he said that he personally is booked-up for the rest of the summer and would be delegating our project to a subcontractor. We wanted Heck Painting because of the positive things our fellow Yelpers related about Matt Heck's professionalism. But we don't know anything about the job performance of whomever he's going to subcontract to, and ultimately we decided not to risk it. But when it comes time to paint the exterior of our house, we will definitely consider him. read more

My three story town home interior is beautiful and fresh thanks to Matt Heck and his team. Matt came out to my place and did a thorough estimate. The painting prep was done so well and it was easy to see the progress over several days. Matt was responsive, helpful, and honest every step of the way. The painters who helped were awesome and I was comfortable leaving them to paint in my home while I was away working. They cleaned up everything and Matt attended to every last detail to put my place back together. The final walk-through was important to him. He checked out everything to make sure my place looked great. Heck Painting is at the top of my list. I recommend Matt and his crew without reservation. Heck Painting painted two floors of my house. While they were not the least expensive bid I received, they were very competitive. I chose to go with Heck because of the strong comfort level I had in the walk through during the bidding process with Matt. Most of the job was completed while my family and I were out of town, which we had never done before. But from the beginning, I could tell Matt and his crew were accustomed to going above and beyond. They offered to move heavy furniture like beds and dressers for us and to reposition our washer/dryer to make the space more useable, several other companies were not willing to do this. The crew leader, Jason, was particularly exceptional. He gave us some good tips which we ended up using when making a few changes to some of our decisions. His experience painting showed with some of these suggestions. Jason and the rest took great care to tape edges, cover areas in plastic and make sure every detail was exactly as we expected and hoped it would be. When we returned home the house looked fantastic. Jason was quick to come back out and walk through with us to make sure everything was perfect. I would give HeckPainting six stars if I could. read more

Matt was called in as a sub-contractor to repair interior basement walls with sheetrock and insulation, then texture and paint (studs were in place). Did a great job on about 30' linear with a corner, floor to ceiling with special sheetrocking around duct work. Did some sheet metal reinforcement I asked for, took pix for documentation before closing the walls up. Saw the work in progress, did a nice job with taping and mudding, texturing and priming. Found that he had to go match the paint and trim, but found the perfect colors. Punctual and neat, very good daily and final clean up. Did a great job communicating, came as early as 0630 so I could get to work, also uses email which I find useful. So he not only does painting, but some construction / carpentry / handyman stuff too. We will use him again when the need arises. read more
