He's always so encouraging and if you don't know the correct answer to something, he'll really try to help you out and help you learn a lot at the same time. I've never had such a fun experience with a tutor until I had Morgan. After all of his help, I ended up doing better with writing at school and all of his tips helped me with the annual district writing prompt I used to have a hard time on. I appreciate how much Morgan cared about me getting better at writing and his cool, friendly personality that made me look forward to tutoring on the weekends. The tutors are top notch - both experienced, professional. Reza is awesome, he has paired me with tutors and is flexible and totally receptive to our needs and schedule changes. He gives you bios of tutors and you get to select your tutor and for any reason if it doesn't work out, you can change to another tutor. So far, I have only received the best tutors and never had any issue except for some minor scheduling issues that came up on my end and Reza resolved right away. It is nice to have a tutoring company that truly cares about each student and not just about collecting your money. The payment policy is also great because you get a discount for prepaid packages and if for any reason you need to cancel, you get your money back for the unused credits. I went to a bunch of other tutoring centers that charged much more and they had strict policies of buying prepaid and non refundable packages. I felt uncomfortable taking the risk of buying a huge package and not knowing if I liked the place. Also, with tutor genius the tutors come to your home which saves me the drive. I've never considered myself anywhere near strong at altitude tests until Young's ACT tutoring! In…read moremy initial ACT diagnostic test, I received a 23 composite, nothing unusual from my previous preACT and PSAT scores in school. At the beginning, I lacked confidence, but I was open to improvement. Young's ACT classes were well-paced, making it easy to manage with my busy soccer schedule and 5 AP classes during junior year. They were also surprisingly enjoyable, and I looked forward to classes in the positive, motivating environment. Young is such a genuine and caring person, acting as a continuous cheerleader, even when progress seems to plateau. We focused on each section individually, gaining exposure and explanations to all possible question types based on past ACTs that Young reviewed. Each section came with a summarized packet of question types, rules, formulas, and approach methods, which I found extremely useful when reviewing for my test.  Before starting classes, I filled out the information sheet and wrote a score of 32 for my realistic ACT goal. In the end, I surpassed my goal with a 34, my most significant improvement being in the English section from a 21 to 35! I highly recommend Young's classes for comprehensive preparation, frequent practice tests, and an encouraging environment.

We chose Powerful Prep because it seemed like the best fit for my daughter. The weekly tutoring combined with self-paced recommended practice was what she needed. She met weekly with her tutor Gloria. Gloria was a great fit for my daughter. She identified my daughter's weaknesses, built her confidence, and gave her the tools she needed to get better and improve in those areas of need. Despite test cancellations and a break in her practice, my daughter was able to raise her ACT score 6 points. It was easy to set up appointments and when I had a question it was answered promptly. That personal touch is something that I value in a company.

There are a million places that it is almost overwhelming. I've come to realize that many "hagwans" (learning centers) outright lie about what they can deliver and are totally shady. I liked Modus because Esther and Josephine were down to earth and very realistic. I really liked their approach and genuineness. I realize that not all 9th graders are prepared to take the ACT, but since his math is already advanced, I wanted him to get exposure to the test so he could see what he was in for. I had him go in a take the diagnostic test, which he scored well enough to make it into the spring bootcamp. My son REALLY enjoyed it. He liked learning the strategies and tips that he learned. I registered him for the upcoming summer bootcamp because HE wanted to go. Regarding college counseling with Esther. Again, I realize he is a bit young, but I wanted him to get an idea of what he needs to do. Esther spent time with him one-on-one and was able to pull so much out of him (I'm still amazed at how she was able to do it). She put together an amazing plan for him with some really excellent ideas. They seem to really relate well with students - my son thinks they are pretty cool, which is saying a lot. He went to other places and hated it, so I'm glad he has had a great experience. If you are looking to give your child an academic advantage, but with caring and genuine people, then I highly recommend Modus. UPDATE: My son's test scores improved DRAMATICALLY by attending the Summer ACT Bootcamp. I am extremely pleased with his scores and he really enjoys it, which is important.

His expertise goes beyond what you can get out of any prep book. And I don't think I could've scored as well without his help. I learned to portion my time and he gives special techniques and hints which he developed himself. Also, he was very open to questions and he was very kind and approachable. So don't be afraid to ask questions and I guarantee, he will give you a very personalized experience. Also, my college counselor, Esther really found extracurricular activities for me that I really enjoyed and pertained to my major. She also helped me brainstorm ideas for my essays and personally, my common app essay turned out to be really unique and my personality shined through. And it was very out of the box which colleges really loved. She helped me get into so many great schools like Boston College, Carnegie Mellon University, UCLA, and Georgetown University. Overall, my experience with all of the staff at Modus (it was called Edugroup before) has made my college application process much more enjoyable and less stressful and I think I learned more about myself through this process.
